Kendall Fuller, finally fully healthy from his knee injury has gotten a chance to solidify his hold on the Redskins Nickel corner position with the injury to Dashaun Phillips. He has obviously made a great impression on his Defensive Coordinator in the larger role he has been playing.
Joe Barry had this to say about Fuller and Virginia Tech:
"You know, I'm going to give Virginia Tech a little plug right here because I said the same thing about Kyshoen Jarrett last year. He was just very mature, very football savvy, and Kendall is absolutely in the same mold," Barry said. "He is a rookie. He's obviously young, that's obvious. But he's very mature for his age, football mature I'm talking about. Very detailed, asks great questions.
Usually young guys say, 'Oh, I get the call, I've got to play the call.' You know, 'I've got to play my leverage, I've got to do my job.' But you learn as you're in this league, you've got to approach every single wide receiver different. And it's cool that Kendall already understands that.
Fuller, alongside Duke Ihenacho at Safety has also been getting plenty of mention by analysts and the sports radio guys here in DC as the Redskins defensive performances have improved dramatically the last couple of weeks. One of the big keys they are being credited with is improving the tackling, especially on running backs that reach the second level. Good to see him doing well.
Only sad note about this is Joe Barry's mention of Kyshoen Jarrett, who has yet to come back from the nerve damage in his shoulder that happened in the last game of last year. Jarrett was coming off an awesome rookie year, which makes it all the worse.

#DBU!!!!
That's the next shirt I will procure.
Defensive Back Recruits. Pease take note:
I love seeing VT players succeeding in the NFL. I really do think it helps with recruiting especially for the 5* and 4* recruits as that is eventually where they want to end up in the league...succeeding!
BTW anyone see Kendall Fuller make a text book solo tackle on Gary Barnidge of the Browns in week 4? A nickle corner taking down a veteran TE almost twice his size and didn't let him gain an extra yard.
#DBU!!!
A former gm or something said the other day that Fuller is already a better corner than Breeland (this is no shock to anyone who watched Breeland at Clemson compared to Fuller at VT).
Also still very sad about Kyshoen. If he can never play again, I hope he made enough money to take care of himself and his family and that his nerve damage/pain is alleviated.
"this is no shock to anyone who watched Breeland at Clemson compared to Fuller at VT)."
This is also no shock to anyone who has watched the Redskins play at all this year unfortunately. I like Breeland but he's been weak at best so far.
No, I'm not bitter the Panthers passed on Fuller twice in the draft, and then following it up with letting Norman go for free....
Fucking brilliant moves right there
Oh Alum07
I can't lie. I'm not just a little bitter about that. I'm still fully engaged at WTF! bitter.
Oh, right, and then after the secondary gets exposed as the single biggest weakness any team has in the NFL right now (outside of maybe the Panthers OL) Gettleman finds it appropriate to cut our best remaining corner in Benwikere.... because that makes sense.
As a Redskins fan, I applaud you.
Glad to see Kendall getting a little dap in DC. Sad to say, though, that all I've heard about Kysheon is that his career is likely over.
PLEASE don't say that. It breaks my heart. It can't be over.
Really great, nice having some VT players on the local team.

All day!
So I also noticed the video board gives a "D...B...U" call after big secondary plays. Love that Whit and company are marketing that.
AND of course keeping the Horse on a Treadmill gag alive.
Agreed, but I think the timing of the "dbu" is off, should be a little faster. People don't seem to understand we are supposed to be chanting that.
Ok I'm asking here. Fill me in on the
"Bye Felicia" sign/joke.
I had that wrong. See HOAT's response below.
Ever heard of the movie Friday? Hilarious stoner movie in the hood. There's a scene in there where Ice Cube says goodbye to a crackhead named Felicia. "Bye Felicia" became a catch phrase. You know who the actress who played Felicia is? Brad Kaaya's mom. No joke.
Just confirmed via Internet. Wow.
Mind=Blown......
Best little known fact of the week... Well done HOAT. I had just finished my own little research project and I did not find that little nugget.
That also makes that little sign the best sign at a Hokie game ever.
Thanks horse. I had no idea. That is good stuff.
Woahhhhh. Was not aware of that last part
It would have been amazing to see josh Norman, Kendall fuller, D Hall and Kyshawn Jarret all playing in the secondary for my Redskins this season :( but the Redskins are finding ways to win and I am hoping it will be a special year for both VT and the Redskins.
