VT at Duke on a six day hold

The headline says that the ACC announced the game times and networks for November 5, but it's misleading. Only the UVA/WF game was announced, banished to RSN at 3 PM. All of the other six ACC games are TBA.

I checked out the master schedule at FBschedules.com, in an attempt to narrow down the time and/or channel. However, that task is impossible. In addition to the six ACC games, there are 3 Pac-12 games TBA, plus the majority of the games slotted for ABC/ESPN/ESPN2/ESPNU have a lot of variables.

Here's what I've figured out:
-ESPNU at noon is spoken for: Georgia Southern at Ole Miss.
-ABC primetime is spoken for: Nebraska at Ohio State
-ESPNU at 3:30 and 7 PM are completely open.
-There are only three games listed for the 3:30 ABC/ESPN/ESPN2 or 7 ESPN/ESPN2. That leaves 2 open slots there.
-There is still one open slot for noon ABC/ESPN/ESPN2.
-I'm guessing that one of the Pac-12 games is going to Fox primetime, and one to the ESPN nightcap. That still leaves one more floating around, so I don't know if that will land on an ESPN or on the Pac-12 network.

ACC Network also hasn't selected a game, and they very well could do one of their occasional split broadcasts, where they have two games. Most of the ACC games on that weekend are either teams that are relatively close together in the middle of the standings, or are teams on opposite ends. I could legitimately see any of the six remaining games being prime candidates for an ACC Network broadcast. Pitt at Miami seems like the most likely game to end up on an ESPN channel, and even that is dependent on Thursday's outcome.

I would bet that we end up on ACC Network or the 3:30 ESPNU.

I need to know. My family is planning on being in attendance.

No, I *don't* want to go to the SEC. Why do you ask?

We don't love dem Hoos.

Best I can figure out is that we're playing on a Saturday. :)

I think we can at least narrow it down to a specific Saturday if we roll up our sleeves.

You're not showing up at 8 AM and drinking all day? I think you're tailgating wrong.

I don't drink at all. I must have been tailgating wrong all these years.

Same. The timeline is maddening.

Really hoping we end up with a 3:30 time, going to a beer festival at noon that day.

"That move was slicker than a peeled onion in a bowl of snot." -Mike Burnop

You could always have your own beer festival before a nooner.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

That's why DVR was created. I had the same thing occur during the ECU game and it worked out well.

FWIW, Durham is an awesome beer town and has a lot of good bars serving up great NC brews! If you miss the BEERFEST you can always hit up DT DURM after the game.

Go Hokies

I missed the UNC game because I was at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver. It was worth it. I figured if we lost I wouldn't be sorry I missed the game, and if we won I could watch it later. Also beer.

Deposit whiskey, receive wisdom.

My dad and I are driving to Duke that morning so please let the game be later than noon

They ask you how you are and you just have to say that you're fine when you're not really fine.

Exactly the case for me.

That's pretty much gonna guarantee us the 12:30 ACCN game.

just kill me now

Me too, waking up really early either way.

Duke already has had a billboard in Newport News, VA since a couple weeks ago for our game.

I suppose they've given up on their own fans buying tickets ever.

Seriously, are they going to have to make football attendance mandatory for basketball season tickets for them to get a double digit turnout?

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

I'll be up in Columbus for the Neb @ OSU game so I'm hoping for a nooner. Knowing my luck that means it will be at 7 PM on the U.

I'll be at a wedding that day so let's hope it isn't at 3:30 or I won't see any of it.

Again with the fall weddings...

At least it's not on the afternoon of the ND game... *sigh*

The irony here is that a wedding is supposed to be a choice of who will be making Thanksgiving dinners for the rest of your life.

Actually this one was my roommate for three of four years at VT, so at least he chose the Duke game.

Plus, San Diego isn't a bad place to escape Central PA weather in the fall.

Side note, anyone have a recommendation for a good Mexican restaurant in Del Mar? I hear that SoCal is the place to get Mexican food, so I want to see if it lives up to its billing.

Wait another Hokie chose to get married on a game day? #stopfallweddings

Yep. He isn't as hardcore about football as the rest of us, though. I've tried to get him to sign up for this site on more than one occasion but he's resisted. He gets all his info from me anyway.

you could stop at Bahia Don Bravo in Bird Rock on your way up to Del Mar. It's a hole in the wall but damn their fish tacos were awesome

Try Roberto's Mexican Food on the south end of Del Mar on Carmel Valley Road-nothing fancy but very popular so they must be doing something right-shouldn't be too far from where you're at

However if you're so inclined you might want to drive about 20 minutes south to Bub's in Pacific Beach-it's the official alumni bar for VT games and is owned by a former Hokiebird. It's on Garnet about 4 blocks from the pier.

Nice pulls, thank you both

Reminder that the Triangle Alumni Chapter will be hosting a tailgate that will start 3 or 4 hours prior to kickoff. Whit has already confirmed he will be in attendance, and we're expecting a fairly decent crowd. You can buy your game ticket through us, or just get a ticket for the tailgate alone if you already took advantage of one of the ridiculously cheap tickets on StubHub (seriously, $10 per ticket or less... c'mon, Duke). Food, drink, and beer will be provided for everyone who arrives.

Maaaaaan, if I was within a 10 hour drive, I'd be all over this. Sounds like it'll be a blast.

Also sounds like it has the potential to be a de facto home game. As usual, we will be represented well. Hokie Nation, baby.

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

Just announced, 3:30 on ESPNU.

Wohoo!

Not a nooner

The 3:30 time slot is making me contemplate making the trip from Bristol... I've been to many neutral site games, but this would be my first away game.

EDIT: Where are the visiting team seats? I would want to purchase tickets for seats where other Hokies would be

Go. Please do it. We live like 2 hours away and I was planning on going but will be traveling for work. I need people to take up the slack. Besides, if enough Hokies go, it will hardly feel like an away game.

"Visitor section"

You mean Visitor's half of the stadium.

Just purchased tickets from Stub Hub! Sideline 3, Row 2. Can't wait to experience my first away game!

Ah yeah. 3:30 game time on my birthday. Daddy's got his birthday wish.

Looking at driving up with the 3 year old and the 5 year old. Looking at the cheapest tickets since I don't know if they will make it through entire game. Anyone have suggestions on what section of stadium will be cheapest? Good places to look for cheap tickets?

$20 seats on the VT side.

Think I read somewhere if you bring three cans per person for the hungry you can buy tickets for $15 each.

3:30?! That's a half hour before the wedding...

WAIT!

3:30 Eastern is like noon thirty Pacific! I TOTALLY FORGOT ABOUT TIME ZONES! I GET TO SEE THE GAME WITHOUT INTERRUPTING THE CEREMONY!

Just occurred to me - this will be our 4th week as a ranked team this season. The last time we were ranked for 4 weeks was in 2011 when we were ranked the entire season. Since then we have been ranked a total of 5 weeks (I think) over 4 seasons.

2011 was also the last time UVA was ranked, for one week in which they played VT in a game that ended 38-0, bro.

I'm excited for the future!

Beat Duke, LETS GO!
