Antonio Freeman talks about Isaiah Ford

Listened to The Big 920 in Milwaukee and the had Antonio Freeman on. They also brought Ford onto the call to talk about break the TF record last night. Antonio acknowledged not only how great it was to break the record but that Ford did it in 2.5 seasons and it took Freeman 4 to set it. Also called Ford a stud who understands the position better then most. Antonio also asked Isaiah about his experience playing for Beamer and Ford was complimentary of how Beamer not only built a relatio relationship with him but also his family. Good stuff!

Edit: Hokiesports will post link to the full interview once it is available.

Have a link so we can listen?

Sorry I listened live. Possible they will have it or maybe Hokie Sports later. If I come across a link I will post.

Thank you sir. That was a great listen. Pretty cool to hear that Antonio Freeman is such a fan of Ford.

I don't like all this Ford love, we are gonna loose him after this season methinks...

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
β€œI served in the United States Navy"

If you love something, let it go to the NFL. if it has a career, it was meant to be. If not, it can always come back.

See: Wilson, David and Jones, Kevin

The Dude Abides

Did David Wilson come back? All i know is he trained for the olympics. is he on staff?

Having some high performers in the NFL would definitely help our recruiting though.

Barring an injury early in the season, Ford was always likely to be gone after this year. He is probably 1st round talent.

That being said, if he does go, he will represent VT just like Freeman did (and still does.)

He is built Ford Tough.

He's talent but I think he lacks in size.

Is a WR that size going to get drafted early?

This is going to be great for the ACC.

6'2"? There aren't many WRs in the league bigger......Isiah will be drafted no later than the 2nd if he leaves. And I don't see a reason for him to stay unless he wants to try for a 'ship next year.....

Yeah, I think he'd benefit from an extra year here, cause he is a little undersized, and I think the extra year in this offense would benefit him greatly. At this point, I think he's probably a 2nd or 3rd round pick, but another year would make him a 1st round talent. He's durable, so it's probably a risk worth taking.

Records are meant to be broken. Antonio understands that. Two great professionals. Two great hokies forever.

So this means he basically has to go to my Packers, right?

I would love for him to go to the Packers and break Freeman's records there as well.

Ford certainly has a nice way to create Fusion between the ball and his gloves to score TD's.

If he does end up with the Packers, that would make them Lambeau TD's.

It isn't likely that the draft will Escape him such that he makes the Expedition back to Blacksburg for next season.

I've always thought Ford is very similar to Freeman. Not great speed but solid size and ball skills off the charts. Route running which could keep him around the NFL a long time.

Two ironic intersections of the two players this week:

1 fords catch of the tipped ball rolling around on his back is shockingly similar to Freeman's legendary catch on MNF

2 SI mocked Ford this week in the first round to Green Bay. It's the first time I've seen Ford mocked in the first round.

As I was watching Gameday this morning I saw that Ford is listed as the #4 WR prospect.
