When I was in maybe the 5th grade, I thought "Teabag Paulus" was hilarious. My friend and I proceeded to play it on his computer out loud. His little brother, who wasn't even in preschool yet, proceeded to run around the house yelling "Jeajag Jaulus."

Imma have to disagree. Only had one experience of traveling to a duke game but the fans were shockingly redneck and obnoxious. Obviously this group was not representative of all their fans but I was expecting a much classier crowd. These guys booed our team throughout the game and were the kind of folks that would cheer and root "AT YOU" rather than the teams on the field if you know what i mean. Im happy to watch the devils slowly seep back into the depths of the blue hell they were spawned in. That, or In the basement tied to the radiator given 3 square meals of pats nards is where they belong.

David Cutcliffe thinks he can make the football program successful enough to garner fan support. Duke athletic department puts free tickets in the Norfolk area valpak mailings.

Fuck Duke. I hate them almost as much as loluva. Mainly the basketball team but I can extend it to football too. This is a school that pushed hard to keep us out of the ACC because they were insistant that the ACC should remain a basketball conference and that we would be bad for the conference. Duke fans are pretty shitty too.

I hate that Dook seems to be the friendliest team in the ACC and that they are tough to hate on. I hate Coach Cut because he has class and is a great fit for their football team. I hate that this is just about all I can say that is negative about Dook.

Somehow, I out of the corner of my eye I saw just enough to know that it was Emma, and then the Halloween WAT reality of the photo hit me. I'm now trying to erase that image.
Happy Freakin' Halloween.

I get that it is hard to hate on a team that is usually the punching bag of the ACC football circuit, but their fans are some really stuck up douchey elitist pricks. The Duke/UNC rivalry is only strong because both of them think they are the most prestigious in the state. It would be like having two UVa's only 10 miles apart. The thing I can't figure out is if they are both supposed to be so elite, how do all of their co-eds look like soccer moms at the age of 19?

I meant elite not from an intelligence standpoint, but from a high society standpoint. I went through engineering school, there is not a correlation between intelligence and physical appearance. The WASPy nature of both schools does emphasize a certain look.

I mean isn't that every loss in every sport every year? If "your" team played better they wouldn't lose. VT playing like crap doesn't make my dislike of Tenn go away, or my hatred of Pitt.

For me, hatin' on a team comes from bitterness, rather than just "we lost to them." Both of those games against Duke should have been controlled by VT, and the one in 2013 was, except for our utter lack of offense. The defense statistically dominated every aspect of that game and yet we still failed. The 4OT game was defensive bust after bust. Yeah, it sucked, but it's not like there was a bad call that decided the game (UNC last year, Michigan Sugar Bowl, USC phantom PI in 2004, etc) that makes my blood boil and demand vengeance.

Better yet, "hatin' on" doesn't need to have a real reason. Its our moment to arbitrarily give our opponent a hard time among ourselves, regardless of whether or not they deserve it. With that in mind:
A quality football coach at Duke makes about as much sense as UVA having a stadium that holds more than the team bench.

Yeah, somehow this thread (and the question posed) doesn't seem to have the same flavor. "Hatin' on David Cutcliffe" probably would generate hilarious, random things that we generally find funny. Simply hating Duke or asking why we shouldn't be bitter about two previous losses just seems...different.

We're favored by 10 over Duke football, and really, it could get worse now that their leading rusher is out for the year. We'll probably have 2/3 the fans in Wallace Wade this weekend, which would pretty much mean VT doesn't have another road conference game this year.
All my anti-Duke rage goes towards basketball, a team that is propped up by the various ECU and App St alumni, and high school dropouts who couldn't bring themselves to wear UNC blue across the state. I have no ill-will towards the actual Duke alumni in the region, but unless they work for Duke hospital, they live in NY and NJ. That's a program who could afford about a 10 year period of .500 basketball play, just to knock them back to earth a little. Counting down the days until K's retirement.

David Cutcliffe has the Duke Lear fueled and ready at the Miami airport with a sideline pass for Naduzzey just in case he needs help with the ACC refs on Saturday evening.

They lost to uva...

Duke thinks this good idea was well executed

This looks like if Mega Man and a Poseidon met.....and f*cked..... and had a baby that wasn't good at football.
Fuck Pat Narduzzi.
Hopefully we will have another good week of our receivers pushing off......
Duck Fook.
Teabag Paulus!
I hate everything about Duke except David Cutcliffe.
David cutcliffe merges into the left lane a full two miles before he needs to turn left
Cutcliffe doesn't wait until the last second to merge into traffic.
Cutcliff uses his turn signals and turns them off if he changes his mind
When I was in maybe the 5th grade, I thought "Teabag Paulus" was hilarious. My friend and I proceeded to play it on his computer out loud. His little brother, who wasn't even in preschool yet, proceeded to run around the house yelling "Jeajag Jaulus."
Things are going so well in Hokie land we can't even hate properly.
I'm sorry, but Duke is just too nice to hate. The most negative football thing I can say about them is that they are, basically, a basketball school.
I was going to list Cut, Dino, Mark,
Patas examples of folks we can't hate, but decided to keep it simple.Imma have to disagree. Only had one experience of traveling to a duke game but the fans were shockingly redneck and obnoxious. David Cutcliffe has brought a perennial struggling Duke program a long way
...did I do it right?
Cutcliff thinks Narduzzi acts inappropriately.
David Cutcliffe thinks he can make the football program successful enough to garner fan support. Duke athletic department puts free tickets in the Norfolk area valpak mailings.
Duke doesn't understand why we chant "Teabag Paulus," they know Greg drinks coffee.
FTFW
I couldn't come up with an anagram for Dave Cutcliffe as good as Pizza An Turd.
Decaf Cult Five was the best I got
Is that what they call their O-line?
Only in provo
Actually that makes sense since many Mormons abstain from caffeine: Misunderstanding: Mormons and caffeine
That joke is an onion. Well done.
Certainly better than Fecal Duct Five
Evil Cuff Addict. Dook cant get enough of the fuzzy nefarious handcuffs!
David Cutcliffe thought Duke was a retirement community.
Duke's football field had a track around it till cutclifee got there, that is all.
Fuck Duke. I hate them almost as much as loluva. Mainly the basketball team but I can extend it to football too. Terrible losers. Even at soccer and wrestling matches
Did you know their basketball coach has a tattoo of a rat on his face?
I've never been a fan of full body tattoos.
And the way their players talked smack about Beamerball last year after their OT win over us, just makes me want to drop 70+ on them!
Duke thinks they are in the ACC
Duke thinks they are
inthe ACCThe Duke fanbase has a lower percentage of actual alumni than Miami's.
Duke locks the gates where the team enters the field even though it's an open horseshoe stadium
That stadium is going to look nice fully decorated in O&M
I hate that we can't hate on them as much as last week because they're run by Cutcliffe and not by Narduzzi.
David Cutcliffe drinks Ensure?!

Damn it, this is hard!
Coach K is a ratface douche
Duke is not really a North Carolina school. It's actually the University of New Jersey at Durham.
Duke is like the chickenhead that you find in your wing order from BDubs.
Duke and Wake Forest are the only Power 5 schools that North Carolina doesn't consider worthy of having "Carolina" in their names.
On the other hand, some of the few non-directional FBS schools in the Carolinas.
I hate that Dook seems to be the friendliest team in the ACC and that they are tough to hate on. I hate Coach Cut because he has class and is a great fit for their football team. I hate that this is just about all I can say that is negative about Dook.
All my wat.
That is so WRONG.
Somehow, I out of the corner of my eye I saw just enough to know that it was Emma, and then the Halloween WAT reality of the photo hit me. I'm now trying to erase that image.
Happy Freakin' Halloween.
Coach Cutclife wants to color his hair like Coach K's.
David Cutclife makes it harder to hate on him than Mark Richt does
Duke uses the wrong colors for Blue Devils.
It's supposed to be blue and gold, dammit.
Duke has world class surgeons and did a bang-up job on my Tommy John surgery...but I hear that they're not perfect. Boom roasted.
I get that it is hard to hate on a team that is usually the punching bag of the ACC football circuit, but their fans are some really stuck up douchey elitist pricks. The Cameron Crazies are more cartoonish than intimidating.
Cutcliff thinks Narduzzi is a d-bag but is too polite to say it.
David Cutcliffe has fake eyelashes on his Volkswagen Bug
I can't hate Duke in football. It feels like kicking a puppy. Now Duke basketball is a different story.....
How can y'all not hate Duke football after the 4 OT loss last year or the 2013 loss.
Because both were basically our fault?
I mean isn't that every loss in every sport every year? If "your" team played better they wouldn't lose. VT playing like crap doesn't make my dislike of Tenn go away, or my hatred of Pitt.
The difference is that losing to Duke in football is always our fault.
Our football team should ALWAYS be better than theirs.
Edit: But those in two games, VT was better than Duke and lost them anyway.

Completely agree.
David Cutcliffe is giving out raisins and toothpaste for Halloween.
As Cutcliffe would describe raisins:

Duke students whine about how privileged the upper class is...while attending a private school with $47,000/year tuition.
Life should be fair, well, except for all the advantages they have.
Now, can they have free birth control?
I hate anything related Duke because of 1.6 seconds...
I was in Cameron Indoor that night and I agree!
David Cutcliffe is a colleague of Coach K.
I doubt Coach K agrees.
Duke doesn't deserve David Cutcliffe.
Truth
We're favored by 10 over Duke football, and really, it could get worse now that their leading rusher is out for the year. We'll probably have 2/3 the fans in Wallace Wade this weekend, which would pretty much mean VT doesn't have another road conference game this year.

after the coronary inducing ordeal I was put through last week, I want a BC style thumping this week. #donuts
Wallace-Wade should be called the Library because it's quiet and filled with nerds
David Cutcliffe has the Duke Lear fueled and ready at the Miami airport with a sideline pass for Naduzzey just in case he needs help with the ACC refs on Saturday evening.
Duke is one of the 4 ACC teams (and 13 Power 5 teams) that's never hosted Gameday
Who was that kid that was mocking us about us being DBU last year, anybody remember?
That was last year, right?
