Not only does the game take its toll on the young and the brave, but the odds are heavily stacked against anyone bold enough to pursue the dream: 1.6% of college football players make it to the NFL. And once they finally make it onto an NFL roster, the average career length is a meager 3.3 years according to the NFLPA.
Making matters worse, a 2009 Sports Illustrated article indicated that "after two years of retirement, a whopping 78 percent of former NFL players went bankrupt or suffered financial stress due to joblessness or divorce".
With all that considered, James Anderson has had a tremendously successful career in the NFL.

It is a brutal and unforgiving business. Pretty much like any corp this day and time. Hope he gets one more chance if that is his desire.
I hope he gets his chance. I still remember how him knocking that Marylander quarterback out of the game back in 2004 after intercepting his pass.
