LSU has reportedly chosen to pursue a path that will make Houston's Tom Herman its next coach, and the Tigers may have a deal in place as soon as Saturday, according to multiple reports.
Really sad stuff, wished Herman stayed at Houston and build the program into a powerhouse.

i heard just yesterday that they "put a significant offer in for jimbo fisher" so ill believe it when i see it
Mark Schlabach said that Jimbo declined that offer and elected to stay at FSU.
I saw it scroll across ESPN that Jimbo asked for 6.5 million a year for 10 years.

I don't understand the argument that he has done such a great job with the team. Before Miles got fired, LSU lost to Wisconsin and Auburn. Two very good teams. Since he has taken over, LSU has zero signature wins (unless you count Arkansas and/or A&M), and lost at home to Florida, a team they should have beaten. That maybe ok for some schools but LSU isn't exactly some schools and can hire almost anyone they want. So why not hire anyone they want.

This. He beat teams he was expected to beat for the most part. LSU has the talent to beat anyone but their qb play has been abysmal for years. Orgeron isn't a big enough name for that program, but I do think he should get a HC'ing opportunity somewhere.

Their is no guarantee that Herman's system is going to work at LSU and if he has a torn locker room coming in, how long does Herman get to make things work at LSU? Because as you point out, LSU isnt exactly some schools. I dont see them giving him long enough to turn over the roster which is what it might take for him to get his kind of guys in the building.
He took a team which essentially didnt have a quarterback, considering their starting QB was a transfer from Purdue and led them to a 5-2 record, only losses to #1 Alabama 10-0 and then a loss at the goal line against Florida as time expired 16-10. He beat a ranked Ole Miss team, a ranked Arkansas team, and a previously ranked A&M team with the same roster that Miles couldnt get to beat a down Auburn team at the time and a strong Wisconsin team.
The sad thing is that Miles thought he had his QB of the future in Feleipe Franks, who basically was living on the LSU campus for almost a year and a half before doing an about face to commit to Florida because they essentially told him he would play right away and now he has sat out this entire year when he would have been the starter at LSU. http://www.theadvocate.com/baton_rouge/sports/lsu/article_8dfd839d-e98f-...
This essentially is what I think sealed Miles fate as well as Orgeron, because while Eitling couldnt be counted on to deliver as a QB, Fournette also failed to deliver as a Heisman Candidate running back. He even finished second on the team in rushing.
I really feel that if Orgeron was given the chance to bring in his own QB, he could deliver for LSU, but as the news appears to be going, he likely wont get that chance. Only thing that might change it is if Texas decides to get in on the Herman sweepstakes even though they havent fired Charlie Strong yet.
I think it's telling that he's been interim coach at 2 schools, and not picked for either.

they get at LSU that should be a strong team.
