Just re-watched the beatdown of LOLUVA and boy was it epic, but did anyone else hear the announcers on the their lone TD say "the safety Shai McKenzie took a bad angle"? I clearly see #28 but can't really make out the name on the jersey. Looking at the roster it seems we also have #28 Curtis Williams CB who would seem more likely to be in that spot.
So did we flip him to defense or were the announcers mistaken?

Mistaken.
Thanks. Was hoping they found him a way to get on the field.
Announcers were wrong.
#28 on defense is Curtis Williams.
This is what Shai has been doing this season apparently.
Thanks. Too bad after everything he's been through.
At least he has a sense of humor about it
Very strange. If Shai is making jokes about it, it seems he's fine with the lack of playing time. Not sure if it's cool to post speculation, but my guess is he's still adjusting back to school after what happened to him last year, and just needed the season to find his footing.
Could it be a redshirt? Not sure what the rules say, but I think he was granted a medical redshirt for last season. Not sure if he hit the threshold for playing this season, but maybe a redshirt if he's in good spirits?
Not sure either, I feel like I've seen it before where a player got snaps early in the season and somehow ended up getting a redshirt. On a side not, it makes me more curious thinking about how he got snaps early on the season (and looked good doing it) only to fall off the earth.
If you've played less than half a season and you miss out due to injury AND it's your second season missed for injury, you can apply for a medical hardship waiver to get a 6th year of eligibility. So IF he's been out due to a recorded injury then he could possibly swing an extra year of playing.
Right. I mean I feel like I've seen the non-medical kind given even after having a few snaps early in the season. I could be wrong, but just remember having that "Huh? I didn't think he was eligible for that" thought before.
Likely to transfer soon
Pshah. Right. Next you'll tell me Lawson is going to transfer. I'll believe it when I see it.
it was really unfortunate that Lawson did not get more snaps this year. Who knows, maybe he'll turn his career around with VT in the ACC Championship and Orange Bowl.
worked for Cardale Jones!
I heard he's taking snaps as a TE now
Would love to see him figure back in, very well rounded talent. I believe he's had some level of nagging injuries.
I still think Shai can be a monster in this offense if he sticks around. Look, this was not an easy year for anyone to get consistent carries, much less a guy who lost practice time to rehabbing.
He has the raw talent to dominate if he can internalize this offense.
Take the offseason, work on fundamentals, work on understanding what Vice is trying to do with the O-line in terms of knowing where the seams should develop, and he will get his carries next year.
I'm hoping that he can get an extra year of eligibility, due to 2 years of medical issues.
Not sure if anyone follows Shai on Twitter but after seeing the few tweets he has put out recently, I'd imagine his lack of playing time has as much to do with his attitude as anything.

I don't blame him being upset...he came to Tech as a four star recruit and was a starter as a freshman in a run-heavy offense. He looked like he was going to have a promising career until injuries stunted his growth as a player. The offense doesn't feature the RB as much as the old offense. Now's a scout team RB playing behind younger players and former walk-ons. I'd be frustrated if I was him.
I think we should be content knowing there is a legitimate reason the coaches have for him not playing and leave it at that. Overanalyzing tweets and speculating don't accomplish anything. We should focus on our guys playing for a championship in Orlando.
Yep, they aren't all Sam Rogers.
He will be a stud somewhere else. Under the old regime McKenzie, McMillian, and Williams all 3 healthy together would have been nasty, but now especially with Ford, Phillips, and Hodges not a chance, and they seem to like Rodgers and Peoples more at RB. We have so many weapons currently and even more coming in 2017 as long as they sign the dotted line, we should have some fun times ahead!
Even just looking through his "likes" it's pretty evident that a transfer shouldn't surprise anyone at all
Fuente is a run first coach. They want to establish the run. The difference is that JF can move the ball through the air if needed.
I don't think those three are playing as much because of what JF has seen in practice of them not because he's going away from the run. I mean you would still want beast running backs either way would you not?
