Classic helmet is fine by me -- brand image. Even oregon, who changes their colors every day still has their "O" on the helmet rather than foghorn leghorn.

Yeah. W. Carolina will have no idea what they're about to go up against.
I can only imagine how they're Monday meeting went:
"Well, we are about to go up against a team that showed Alabama what it's all about...anyone want to start the game? Please?"

Mars Hill is another quaint little liberal arts college in the NC mountains. Papa Nick's Pizza right on Main Street has a nifty chicken parm sub and killer garlic rolls. I recommend it.
Other than that...yeah.

I'm actually going to this game. Its a short drive up and I need some new Hokie swag from Campus Empo. The weather looks like its going to be perfect for a game.

I know this is just Stubhub so technically they have already "sold" -- that's a lot of extra tickets though.
They should offer all of the extra tickets to students......sell out! You have about 10k that normally miss out because of the lottery. Or open it up to the residents of blacksburg....you will fill the stadium.

Does anyone know if there will be a live-streaming of this game? I have Centurylink as my provider so ESPN3 is a no-go for me. Radio isn't good enough either, I must be able to watch the game.

If StubHub is a good indicator of sales it
looks like the rest of the season has a good chance of selling out.
As of 4:50P (9/4) there are 1165 tickets remaining for WCU.
New to this - is this too high a # for any chance of selling out at this point?
I watched Hoosiers last night, so I'm all-in on the long shots today!
GO HOKIES - beat the 41 pt spread!

how bout this idea:
The University can raffle off tickets to students for $5 online. (students only)
Each student that enters will receive a randomly generated number. On gameday (or whenever the ticket office is open) Students can take printout of email with # (or barcode) to the ticket office to see if they won.
Let's say the average face value price of tickets remaining is $40 - @1000 tickets that's $40K
For example- if 5000 students enter raffle that generates $25K
(but more importantly keeps the streak alive)
thoughts?- could this work?- why or why not.

If the tickets are on stubhub they have already been bought in the first place, whether they go to the game or not doesn't help the sell out*. It's a matter of the tickets remaining with the athletic department. I read somewhere (I believe hokiesports, but I can't find it right now) but it said students can still pick up a ticket from cassell thursday and friday for free. So students wouldn't waste money for a raffle when they can get it for free.
*Kind of like how everyone is trying to sell their student ticket on FB. Looks like some kids might lose their tickets since they are trying to sell more than face value and the ticket office checks there to prevent stuff like that.

For the tickets remaining that aren't student tickets, they could sell blocks of them to local business to use/give away/etc. I'm sure 105.3 would take them in a heartbeat based on how much they advertise the tickets they give away to every home game.

Only new #Hokies injury I noticed was DE Tyrel Wilson. He was in blue (limited contact) during practice.— Hokies Journal (@HokiesJournal) September 5, 2013

Probably tweaked or bruised something against Bama enough that coaches don't want anything worse to happen during a practice for a team that's on the schedule because W&M was booked. I'm not concerned. The coaches are likely making sure he's ready to rock against Marshall.

We always put that helmet up, even if we're not wearing it.
I remember reading that in the other topics before the bama game. But they put up the classic and we wore it so here's to hoping it's a trend lol
For real we went over this last week haha.
Open up as 41 point favorites. Could be double if the WR's catch the ball.
I'll be working, hoping to catch the first quarter though, Go Hokies!

Hey now, WCU only lost to Alabama 49-0 last year. And they beat Mars Hill (who the hell is Mars Hill?).

Bring as many friends as you can, sell out streak looks like its going to end this weekend.
1,658 available from $20

I went on to Hokiesports and counted all of the unsold seats haha 1,297......about 1,000 of which were in the WCU stands
I don't think the seats in the visitors section count for our sellout streak. Those are already sold to the other school.
Not if they are returned to us I believe. Many opposing schools return a portion of tickets they were unable to sell.
Turkey leg for your avatar
I'm still waiting for French's comprehensive breakdowns of Western Carolina's defensive schemes.
My guess is it will be along the lines of:
I fully expect to see Beaker lining up at WHIP on Saturday.

Try FirstRowSports.eu I usually go there to watch any untelevised game including NFL and UFC.
DO you have to download the viewer? Norton gave me a warning so I just want to make sure that it is legit. (Obviously its a little sketchy.....)
The stadium.
I wish I could. This weekend is a no-go... :(
I just hope we impose our will in every facet of the game

just saw that about free student tickets-
http://www.thekeyplay.com/content/2013/september/4/western-carolina-sellout
so if that doesn't work - what other options are there?

great idea thanks
any way of knowing
how many tickets are left?
just read that there were 3900 unsold tickets as of 12p Wed.
(3400 were returned from WCU)
Hopefully, the students will come through for HOKIE NATION!
Go HOKIES!
Part of me wants to call the ticket office and ask them if they'll let me buy 50 tickets at $5 a pop to help us get closer to selling out.
Hope it's nothing too serious
