Evans was a better college football QB this year than Trubisky. That should count for everything.
Does Evans not count as a rookie in the ACC due to transferring? Otherwise, I'm not sure how he wouldn't be in the running for Rookie of the year!

I actually don't have too many problems with the list. It is, in fact, a good showing. My issues were Ford on second team and Jerod not at least third team.
I know we aren't Bama. I don't think it's fair to say that anyone who disagrees with the list automatically assumes every player should be on it. That's a bit of an extreme jump to conclusions.
I just hoped we'd have at least one first team offensive player, especially considering how much we dominated time of possession this season. Definitely a key to our renewed success.

This is an award to recognize individual success. UVA had some very talented performers on their overall dysfunctional team this season. Sometimes shitty teams have great players, literally examples of that in every sports league on the planet.

They are going on his total tackle stats. When your opponents are always getting past the front 7, it makes it easy for him to get lots of tackles.
Since Woody Baron isn't first-team, this list is immediately irrelevant to me.

My biggest knock here is Ford being second team to Switzer. More yards, More yards per catch, More touchdowns. Hell, he even had more rushing yards. North Carolina bias rides again in the ACC. No issue with Williams or Etta Tawo, both were beasts. Tight end was essentially pick'em in terms of stats, so the higher ranked, higher profile guys get the votes. Defensively, I will be honest, I dont know much about many other defenders in the ACC so tough for me to criticize.

Agreed. Switzer is a system wide receiver. Put Cam or Carroll in his position and they would have similar if not better stats. But if you put Switzer in a role like Isaiah's, he wouldn't put up anywhere near the same numbers. I'm probably reaching a little with that argument, but I've always thought he was wildly overvalued.
You're not reaching at all. Sure, Switzer has skills, but he immensely benefits from being the check down option for Trubinsky in terms of statistics. If the game is on the line, I'd rather have Ford on the receiving end of my passes.

How does everyone feel about a TKP based vote for who we think VT's players of the year are? I could set up a survey and we could vote on offensive, defensive, most improved on both sides of the ball, special teams, etc? I just think it'd be neat to see how the community feels about such things. Someone on staff may have been planning to do such a thing as well, so I wanted to ask.

How are you the top player nationally, if you can't even win the award for best player at your own position? Likewise, how can you be the top player at your position if the overall best player in the country also plays your position?

That's... a little different, at least. The participants of the B1GCG are determined by a certain set of criteria. The CFP participants are selected by a different process that allows for a certain amount of subjectivity, and emphasizes a different set of criteria.
However, if an award that goes to the "Best Player" is given to a QB, you'd think he would be the best QB in the country. But even then, the awards in question are all handed down by different groups of people, probably with different things that they look for in a player, so it's not terribly surprising that the awards could get split. I mean, look at how many "split national championships" we've had (even once during the BCS era), just because the coaches and media can't ever agree on anything.

There are several names that don't make much sense:
Bret Bielema, Butch Jones (or is he on here for winning the Life Championship?), Gus Malzahn (yay, you didn't get fired), and Kevin Sumlin also don't make a ton of sense.
EDIT: Just realized the common denominator here and I can't believe I missed it. Of course, there's SEC bias for the Bear Bryant Coach of the year. 6 of the nominees are in the SEC.
