French: A favor. Could you do a quickee blurb on what plays could be built off of the Pop Pass to Sam (Senior Bowl) Rogers? I know that Fuente & co like to train defenses for a play just to show it but actually run another.

I have no doubt French has much more insight than me. But I actually think that we primarily use the little jump pass to the RB as the play being built off of an earlier one. Usually one of the plays we use to establish the QB run is the look where the QB follows the rb's lead block. The jump pass play works because we show that same play with the QB following the back on a designed run and then the running back (previously used as a blocker) slips into the middle of the field for the sudden pull-up jump pass.
We show a few variations of using the rb as a lead backer on designed runs and I believe we've shown that jump pass out of multiple of those looks as well.

It's probably called based on how they're defending the QB run. Sam needs to know whether he's blocking or looking back for the pass. I'd imagine they'd call the pass, then give Evans the option to keep if the pass isn't open.

By the end of the year Settle was becoming impossible to block one on one from what my untrained eye saw, he really came into his game the last 3 weeks or so.

Lot of production returning on the DL. Mihota 13 starts 43 tackle, 7 tfl, 2 sacks, 2pbu, 3qbh. Walker 4 starts 28 tackles, 6.5 tfl, 1.5 sacks, 4pbu, 4qbh. Hill 1 start 33 tackles, 5tfl, 1.5 sacks, 4 qbh. Settle 0 starts 17 tackles 7tfl. 2 qbh. Question can next year's second unit provide close to that???

I feel like we have a great year, hype builds in the off season, and then have an off year. This can apply to the line as a whole or individual players. I felt like our Dline was pretty strong this year so based on absolutely nothing and 100% anecdotal, I'm anticipating a drop-off next year.

I think that's been true recently, but not historically (i.e. pre-2011). Lack of quality depth is a root cause of many of our issues over the last few years.

Run the pop pass successfully, and then drag a slot receiver underneath Sam. The linebacker will bail out and there is room on the drag.

He was very good indeed, but he lacks Woody's motor (giggity) from what I could tell. Not as disruptive, but def a mountain to block.
What he lacks in motor he makes up for in girth.

Truth.each year is different. Just think 2015 was supposed to be best DL ever. Top 3 Nation.
