Has a hokie squad been 11-0 since the football team in 99? I don't think so...great job, ladies!
Wrestling went 14-0 to open the 2008-09 season
Women's basketball also opened the 05-06 season with a 12-0 record.
I think they had over 20 turnovers and still battled til the end. Coach Brooks has these ladies confident and relentless. They really do look like the lady version of the men's team. Hicks is a whirling dervish on both ends and is #2 in Nation in steals. She has over 50 in 11 games. Also nice to see Nahodil back on the team and getting some RBs and points with her few minutes she played.
Not sure why they are ranked so low.
They were talking about Auburn getting ranked with the quality loss. Who would they jump? Not the team they just lost to.
Apparently an SEC team losing in OT to an ACC team looks better than an ACC team beating an SEC team in OT.
No expectations (outside of VA) that we'd be any good.
Although, Whit's track record of 1st year coaches is something that should at least be considered.
There isn't much turnover in the Womens side before conference play because teams usually are playing powder puffs. There are a few Holiday tourneys that may make room for the Hokies to move up this week. This should be a big win if enough voters actually check it before tomorrows voting.
These are the only ranked teams with losses this week
#25 Oregon
#17 DePaul
#9 UCLA lost to #6 South Carolina
#10 Stanford
There are teams with 3 and 4 losses ahead of them.
Perception though when those teams started in the top 25 and are regularly present in the rankings year in and out
The only team I really have an issue with above them is Texas. They have been terrible this year.
Whit Babcock is pretty good at this coach hiring thing.
this just in: air is helpful
edit: you were legged sir -as deserved. and I watched this whole game wanting my Auburn War Tiger Eagle Whatever wife to see it so she could suck it (ahem)...

I guess he's good at both.
Also, #6 Wrestling took down the cousins in a woodshed style today 36-4 to win the Black Diamond Brawl.
I almost never watch WBB but I did most of this game. We have some nice players on this team.
Vanessa Panousis is a baller
Look at you, and all you did was add 2 L's and an R.
Sometimes it is painful to watch WBB. However, I have not missed a game that's televised on the web. Coach Brooks has them believing in themselves. Sydney Cook is playing great, but the heart and soul of the team is Hicks. She is the Sam Rogers of the team.
Team also picked up 3 nice recruits too.
I know the ACC is extremely strong in WBB. Where do we think we can realistically finish in the conference?
Looking through orange and her own glasses I would say first.
Realistically speaking, FIIIIF.
First might be a little optimistic; but this team is still growing and learning a new system. As Coach Brooks says in every press conference, they are continuing to figure out his system. They are not first place ACC good yet; but I believe they could be. It just depends on how quickly they progress. They were good enough to beat Auburn by 20 points; but they only won in OT because they are still young and made young player mistakes in the 4th quarter.
I expect us to battle for somewhere between fourth and sixth by the end of conference play.
Here is how I see it:
Notre Dame (by far)
Duke
Louisville
Tech
Florida State
Miami
Also consider that there is only one ACC Women's team with more than three losses at this point. Boston College is at 5-6, everyone else is 7-3 or better. Hell there are 10 squads with two losses or less.
Looks at title.
