Didn't see a thread devoted to this show, so figured I'd start one.
I just finished Season 2 on Amazon and I must admit i'm getting sucked in. As with season 1, season 2 started out slowly and wasn't that exciting, but then things started getting interesting with the death of "ze fuhrrer" and especially the humanization of John Smith with his family.
How did other folks feel about the show?

Great show but I need a book or a. Ovid short with the full WWII backstory. I'm an alternate history lover and I can't stand not knowing all the details.
I loved season 1 but haven't started season 2 yet. I have to finish season 5 of the wire first, and that won't happen until after new years at this rate. Given how long its been since season 1 was out, i might have to get a refresher on the storylines before starting season 2, and it'll probably be like a year and a half until season 3 comes out so i'll forget the whole thing again.
Great show, just started season 2. I agree with Fireman though, I wish the show went into the backstory of how the Axis won more.
I suppose they might elaborate on it further - they showed the nuke being detonated in Washington. But perhaps this is like The Walking Dead where it doesn't really matter how they won since it doesn't advance the plot. Kind of like Red Dawn - you never really understand how the US got invaded, just that it was.
Haven't finished season 2 yet, but definitely one of my favorite shows right now.
I thought it was a great premise for a story but I just couldn't get into it. I watched the entire first season and just couldn't make myself like it. I was the same way with breaking bad, watched that whole series and didn't like it.
I agree wrt Breaking Bad. I never got into it as much as everyone did, but still finished it anyways. I recommend you stick with it - season 2 is better than season 1 IMO.
I enjoyed the first season. The premise leads to some interesting results.

I just binge-watched both seasons. I thought Season 2 blew season 1 out of the water. I would put Season 2 on par with quality shows like GoT, Westworld, etc. Season 1 wasn't bad, but the writing was lacking a little and I felt like there were quite a few plot holes. The writing in season 2 was fantastic and even covered up some of the plot holes from season one.
Season 2 started out kind of slow, but man...when does season 3 come out? I cant wait! Pretty much the whole time you have no idea what is going to happen next; I love how it keeps you guessing.
I liked season 1 but felt that season 2 was tedious. I'll still tune into season 3 but at this point I'm kinda ready to abandon this show.
I know it's based on a book, and I did not read the book. That said, through season two I feel like the show takes it too far down the alternate dimension rabbit hole. Of course, you wonder how we could have the films of our current reality in this alternate reality, but I was expecting it to be a result of the Axis sneak-attacking the US after having surrendered, and the "propaganda" is film of actual newsreels in that reality. I also thought the alternate reality that the Trade Minister stumbled into could have been just a cool "this is what it would have been like", just for a few moments. Instead, it became more science fiction than alternate history drama, not quite what I was looking for.
I had high expectations after the first season, seeing potential for an amazing second season, but I was ultimately let down. A good show overall with great acting and setting, whose plot holds it back from being a true classic.
Season 3 debuts on October 5th!

Started watching tonight. Found this new feature really cool. When you pause the show it shows the actors who are playing in that scene on the screen, their real name etc you ca also get other content unde the "X-ray" option.
"new" feature...I can't remember ever not seeing that on amazon streaming.
Never had it on the TiVo app before. Granted I don't watch a ton of Amazon streaming because their interface is awful.
oh ok, gotcha. I've always used the web interface because we stream through our media PC.
This season has another slow start but its picking up a few episodes in!
It's a dope season overall, just finished watching it. I think in total it's better than the second season. After the first season I was actually kind of disappointed until the last episode.
The whole alternate timelines thing is confusing me in episode 1
Didn't want to open this thread until I finished season 3. Definitely enjoyed it more than any of the other season's my only problem is with the last episode reveal that only people can travel to alternate universes if their is a place for them (i.e. they are dead). If this is true then how did the trade master go into an alternative universe and assume his life there to get the tape?
I haven't read too much into that yet, but my guess is that when he "left" his family in what I assume is our reality, he went to a different reality that he was dead in (or maybe never existed?) and is just chilling there while the show's main reality Trade Minister has an opening to jump in to.
Or maybe our reality's Trade Minister (though I guess he isn't really the trade minister) has actually been dead for a while. And the show's Trade Minister has been filling in for a while. Maybe the first time we see him travel is just the first time in a long time, and the interactions between his other family are true.
Or maybe he never existed in the shows reality and has been travelling for a long time from our reality.
There might be something to to the intense meditation that the travelers do prior to leaving - maybe searching for a reality that they can enter. It's possible that is why it took so long fo Juliana to travel. I think that her sister's reality might be one of the only realities that she doesn't exist in (or at least the easiest for her to connect with).
I'm glad I started watching after season 2 had already come out, because I don't think I would have stuck around after just season 1, if I had to wait.
