Ranking Our Uniforms in 2016

Clark Ruhland (@Hokie20 on twitter) compiled his personal rankings of our uniform combinations this season. You can check them out here.

I thought his rankings were pretty agreeable, I might move the all white with Navy helmet up, and the Maroon pants and jersey with orange helmet up too.

My rankings would be (helmet/jersey/pants):

1. Maroon/Maroon/Maroon
2. Maroon/White/Maroon
3. White/White/White
4. Orange/Maroon/Maroon
5. Maroon/White/White
6. Hokiestone
7. Maroon/Maroon/White
8. Orange/Maroon/White

He also mentions the possible return of some orange next year. If we go this route, I'd rather us stay away from orange jerseys. But I also love this look:

I like your list. I would only change one thing and that is to move White/White/White up to number 2. Especially with the helmets they just released for the belk bowl. I think those are going to look awesome in an all white uni!

For home: Maroon, Maroon and White.

I hate wearing orange. Seems like we always lose in it plus I think it looks bad.

Having lived in upstate NY for 3 years my Orange Effect shirts always seemed ambiguous (didn't feature "Hokies" or "Virginia Tech" prominently at all). Felt like I was blending in with Cuse fans. Problem was the sleeve length, fit and theme of those particular shirts made me reach for them more than the maroons that I have.

Why do we not experiment with multi color pants? Seems like we purchase our pants at the local Dick's.

My Ideal Unis:

Standard Home Game (BC,ECU,UVA) : Maroon, Maroon, White
Big Home Game: (vs. top 20 teams, Big NC games): Maroon, Maroon, Maroon

Away Game: Maroon (alternate with the new white Belk Bowl lid), White, White
The uniforms we wore against ND this year were so much sharper and cleaner looker than the Maroon, White, Maroon combo IMO.

Also of note. I HATE the maroon socks and black cleats combination. We need to stick to white socks and white/orange cleats. I'm a fan of the blue-collar work ethic mentality the all maroon uniforms symbolize but light colored socks/cleats would make the maroon pop even more, let alone bring more SWAG to our best uniform combination. Pics below.

IMO, all maroon with white socks & white/orange cleats is a 10/10.

I agree with the black cleats. I think wearing cleats white with orange and/or maroon trim would look awesome.

Am I the only one who loved the Hokie Stone helmets but with the gray pants we wore against Maryland a few years back? Seems like one we've forgotten but it was actually a decent look

I refuse to vote until we remove the strips from the jerseys. All these jersey combinations are inferior to the ones below.

I'll take all maroon everything for our annual maroon effect game, ACCCG and bowl/neutral site games, all orange everything for our annual orange effect game, and combinations of white/maroon for everything else.

I love talking jerseys. We need an effective stormtrooper away jersey that we can kill ar home too. I'm thinking the 2009 all white nike pro combats. Get rid of some of the frills with solid colored numbers, and its lit.
