247 Sports is Showing the following as the list of Early Enrollees:
http://virginiatech.247sports.com/Season/2017-Football/Commits
Silas Dzansi - Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union, VA)
Hendon Hooker - Dudley (Greensboro, NC)
Caleb Farley - Maiden (Maiden, NC)
Dalton Keene - Chatfield (Littleton, CO)
Aundre Kearney Mandarin (Jacksonville, FL)
Kalil Pimpleton - Muskegon (Muskegon, MI)
AJ Bush - Iowa Western C.C. (Council Bluffs, IA)
Terius Wheatley - Fork Union Military Academy (Fork Union, VA)
That's 8 solid Player-Athletes and guys who will get exposed to Spring ball early on.
Excited about all of them.
Silas is a solid O-line prospect.
AJ Bush and Hendon Hooker are much needed at QB competition and depth.
Caleb Farley and Dalton Keene are playmakers along with Pimpleton
Kearney adds to the Linebacker group
I'm excited about Terius Wheatley too, I know they said he could be a DB or Running back. Either way he's a baller and hope he does well for us.

Comments
I was gonna say Silas and AJ were the two biggest in terms of team impact but Hooker, Pimpleton, Farley, and Keene will also benefit tremendously.
I was singling out the first two because I whole heartedly believe that a college S&C program far outstrips anything a high school or personal trainer can do for you. They have it down to a science and just a reminder, our S&C coach looks like this:
Side notes: His beard alone makes people make gains. He is officially titled the Associate Director of Athletics for Athletic Performance. And our Assistant Director for Strength and Conditioning for Football is this stud who barely fits in camera frames.
I picked AJ as the second because we need a quarter back. I think Fuente has this eye for QB talent that is ridiculous and has now sent QBs to the draft in back to back years. There aren't many coaches out there that can say that. Giving AJ time to win the locker room and learn the offense could be huge for the 2017 season.
His beard must keep his entire body warm because he never once wore more than a polo on the sidelines. Not even a hat. Even in a hurricane!
With this, I certainly

His head looks so tiny compared to the rest of his body...
He would have to have a size 9 head for it NOT to look small compared to the rest of his body!
This is definitely the man I want working with our early enrollees:
I was in class with Nick when we both started working towards getting PT (Personal Trainer) Certified. He really knows his stuff outside of being massive. Also really connected with athletes. Cannot be said enough how important these trainers are to elite athletes. If your S&C guys are idiots, this happens: Workouts Put Multiple Oregon Players in Hospital
Well that sucks for just about all of them. Taggarts been there like a week
Doesn't just suck for them, it is dangerous for them. The condition being caused by the excessive workouts is causing their muscles to break down which can severely damage kidney function. This is way beyond gut check and more like hazard to health/safety or even hazing.
Yeah I didn't read the article but I assumed it was Rhabdomyolysis as well, which is no joking matter. It can cause permanent tissue damage and severely damage your kidneys. We're talking about something that if untreated can kill you.
According to r/cfb comments the S&C coach has been there for a while and has a great reputation and he's never had this issue before. Current football players have come out to state that the workouts were not overly intensive and players were allowed to take breaks whenever necessary.
That leads me to believe this was more the players weren't training within their means, not that the coaches were pushing them too hard/hazing.
Their S&C is Irele Oderinde. He just came to Oregon from USF a month ago with Taggart.
If one player was hospitalized, that's one thing; if three end up in the hospital, that's on the staff.
You're correct, I should have re-read the r/cfb thread before commenting. He has been an S&C coach for a while, not at Oregon though.
Suspension incoming.
One month suspension....
Is that Oregon's version of suspended indefinitely? Looking at you Duke.
Hooker > bush IMO. If hooker doesn't win the job though I imagine JJ will start and bush will be the backup so Hooker can RS.
While I too would love for Hooker to be able to come and make an immediate impact handling the balls, I think we saw last year bringing in a JUCO with experience will likely be the guy in charge.
Watch Evans (4 star JUCO transfer) film versus bush and then look at the stats. Completely different caliber of recruit. Bush wasn't even the starter on his JUCO team but we expect him to start for a major p5 program?
I think Bush was brought in for depth. Unless we bring in some other hotshot I expect Jackson to start.
Agreed.
If I'm worried about anything right now at QB, it's that we may have JJ and HH with only one year separation.
Por que no los dos?
Si? Yo?
K nailed it above. Willis and Bush are camp QBs hoping to resurrect their college careers.
I think the point of the 2 transfers are to create a bit of separation in years between JJ and Hooker. It'll probably be JJ -Bush - Click - Mumamu with Hooker RS and Willis sitting a year.
agree; Hooker definitely beats Bush
Hmmm. Are we talking football?
> I was singling out the first two because I whole heartedly believe that a college S&C program far outstrips anything a high school or personal trainer can do for you.
I wonder if this holds true for the "pipelines to the top" schools in places like Florida, Texas, and the SEC states in general. Schools that are constantly pumping out the kids that go on to be stars at the top college teams.
If you're talking the IMG Academy, I'd agree that they could likely prep on the same level as a college program. Overall, even an exceptional high school could not compete with the resources and expertise of a Div I Power 5 program.
Not referring to any school in particular. I'm just pondering on where that line lies (that the best high school S&C program is better than a certain level of college).
Surprised at how many of these guys are out of state
That's a lot of early enrollees.
If my knowledge of recruiting rules is correct, we can count them toward the recruiting class of 2016, yes?
I'll always have a leg to give for Reggie Watts gifs
We can count as many of them until we reach a total of 25 for 2016. I think we had 21 commits sign NLIs for last season but then several of those ended up Greyshirts. Not sure how those guys count if they end up coming in with this class after prepping. That said, as few as four could count towards 2016, but I doubt we will ever see how the school accounts for it. As long as they dont get the NCAA knocking and we get all the talent, I am good with it.
Guys we got an Australian kicker early enrolled.
So few points first an Australian punter those guys always seem to do well. Second The graphic for the player is awesome.
Yup, 6'2" and 190 LBS. Looks like a linebacker to me!
We don't take kickers who can't tackle.
If there's two things we do well, it's QB<->TE and LB<->K.
https://www.gofundme.com/22p8sxg
Aussie punters got that swag tho.
Fortunately, Will Muschamp took that setback with aplomb.
To this day it is the only TD I have seen taken off the board for taunting. Truly an iconic play.
Thunder from Down Under.
Crikey! We got ourselves an Aussie! OY! OY! OY!
Played Aussie rules football and a lefty? I see trouble for returners in the future!
unfortunately, his videos posted on youtube show a more traditional punting style. I got excited to see us incorporate someone who punts on the run to keep returning teams on their toes for a fake.
No need to worry about the fake punts
glad you showed this one and not Danny's from the Sugar Bowl...
What are you talking about? Danny didn't have one in the Sugar Bowl...
We played in a Sugar Bowl???
Yeah, 1995
well 4 times to be exact
It's true
Hmmm I remember the one against FSU. They called it after the 3rd quarter for some strange reason. I'd forgotten the Michigan one, didn't that end with a long review in which it was determined that Danny Coale caught that effing ball? Glad to see that, by my count anyway, we've gone 3-1
Sigh....... didn't think a /s would be needed but here we are lol
Apparently we both forgot our "/s" this day.
I'm looking forward to him screwing up other teams' punt block coverages being a lefty. And having played ARF, knocking the crap out of someone. I also hope he can drop kick field goals and screw with LOLUVA.
hhhmmm...this morning they didn't have him listed on 247 sports but now they do. I wonder if any others are out there, walk-ons...transfers, etc
According to Fuente's twitter post, Hooker showed up at 6'5" 212. Big, if true. (Literally)
That's the second biggest Hooker I ever saw.
6'5"? If true, Fuente is developing the shit out of this kid and he's going to the draft.
So our new Hooker made an early entry...
God damnit, take your leg and get out
I am notoriously bad at evaluating high school film...
But I love Hooker's film. Think he's a perfect fit for what Fuente wants to do.
I think you are going to end up being right on this one.
Confirmed by #sauces, Fuente's recruitment of Hooker is identical to Buzz's recruitment of Chris Clarke. Both in their first true recruiting class, they both evaluated the one player (QB or SF) that would be a game changer and went out and made sure they got him.
Hookers career stats as a High School QB... 9,002 yards gained, 103 TD's scored.
Be careful googling that phrase
Pimp looks ready for winter conditioning
meanwhile, I'm praising the Lord we have a covered field for the poor soul behind him. Who comps the SPF75?
Dalton Keene came in a little heavier than expected...
And probably shorter. I think he's 6'2" 240 playing weight, so maybe more fullback than TE.
Oh that poor man, the number of summers he must have spent impersonating a lobster.
Looking like he's about to pimp slap some poor unsuspecting corner.
