2017 ATH and Former Rutgers Pledge Bryce Watts Commits to Tech

The Hokies successfully flipped the New Jersey athlete.

The Hokies have added their second commit in as many days, with 2017 ATH Bryce Watts of Toms River North (N.J.) HS making his pledge to Virginia Tech.

Watts announced his decision on Twitter late on Jan. 21.

Watts previously told The Key Play that he's taking his official visit to Blacksburg this weekend.

The 6-0, 170 pound New Jersey prospect, who's rated a 3-star recruit by the 247Sports Composite ranking, committed to Rutgers last March. But the Hokies decided to offer him in May, and he de-committed from the Scarlet Knights on Jan. 15. Watts also reported ACC offers from Boston College, Pittsburgh, and Syracuse.

Watts played as both a defensive back and a wide receiver in his senior season at Toms River North HS.

what type of WR is Watts? at 6'0 170lb I'm guessing deep threat?

In the mold of Stroman? Similar size & build - more likely suited as a DB but who knows?

Guessing a DB type I'd receiver.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

Electric.

Ohm my god, not this again

Resistance is futile.

I'm just so amped about this kid

Here lies It's a Stroman Jersey I Swear, surpassed in life by no one because he intercepted it.

Ohm my, he's a heck of a playmaker.

DeSean Jackson style I'm hoping. Without the gangs...

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Watts going on here? Quite a roll we are on to end the recruiting cycle...

Turn down for Watts

Cool beans.

Wow this guy has some speed! Welcome aboard Mr. Watts!

2017 class keeps getting better & better. The work is not yet over. Speaking of flipping, let's flip Jordan Williams & Laborn while we're at it. Welcome to Hokie Nation Watts!

Allen Ox

It's that flipping time of the year, so if we continue to stay the course, hopefully we'll get a few more flips, particularly those highly-touted in-State guys, without losing any of our existing class.

4.37 holy mess

This is one of those, "Meh... how good can that skinny guy be?" moments, isn't it?

Holy throwback batman

The next great DB or WR?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

As long as we don't have to use him as a punter.

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Seriously loving this get, but something doesn't look right about the accompanying picture. Bryce is #13, not 2.

Recruiting. . . Recruiting never changes

Maybe this will finally knock Rutgers down from their lofty perch

As much as I really like his WR highlights, I really love his cornerback work. He seems tough, athletic, nose for the ball and has a fiery attitude on the field. Definitely in the mold of Greg Stroman and he has the ability to return punts too.

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

So just like Stroman.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.
