I know we've got a few Vikes fans here, this is really tough news. 19 month recovery time, and...I don't know how you come back from that - to be honest. I feel horrible for the kid.

Could be worse... They could have panicked and traded their first away for an overpriced, overpaid mediocre QB whom they'll be saddled with for the foreseeable future instead of tanking for a year and possibly ending up with one of the guys in the next couple classes.
In the NFL you can't just wait around for a QB to recover when you have a playoff team. Also Bradford played better than Bridgewater ever had and set the record for completion percentage. Not his fault their o line was awful and AP was injured all season. Bradford is a good QB.
Until I see Sam Bradford throw a pass further than 5 yards past the line of scrimmage, I won't be convinced he's a good NFL quarterback.
Bradford was baaaad this year. He only broke that record because he checked down every play. They could have gotten that level of play from replacement level free agent talent. With teddy they were super bowl contenders, without, we had what this season was and now without a draft pick
They were not super bowl contenders with Bridgewater.
They were picked by plenty of people as contenders. They went 11-5 last year, got better on defense, and have seen Teddy improve every year. They were one of the most complete teams in the NFC going into this year and missing Bridgewater sank it.

By all advanced metrics and expert analysis from guys who are dedicated to studying NFL QB play, Bradford was far from bad this year, and actually performed very well given the ridiculously bad OL he had.
I read a lot of nfl people. I've literally never read anything positive about him, whether they look statistically or at tape or both. At his best, he is the epitome of average. And at no point in his entire career has he been able to throw a ball past 15 yards, you just can't be a qb in the nfl if that's true. Obviously the o-line is an issue, but it was last year too and they went 11-5 with Teddy and came seconds away from beating the Seahawks.

With no foreseeable time table on his recovery, and them stating that they're still worried about his progress.. I'm not sure there's much to dispute, at this point anyway.

As a Vikings fan, I really hope he makes a full recovery. Such a terrible injury to have, especially at the beginning of a promising career.
Teddy never was, and never will be, a franchise QB. I'm sorry for the guy, but hang it up. Or get paid to accept your role as a backup.
So I never figured out exactly what happened to him. All I know is he tore his knee up in preseason practice, was taken to a hospital via ambulance, and it was gruesome enough to cancel the rest of practice. Does anyone have any more details?

Story I read was that he was outside the pocket, tried to cut on a run and somehow his knee spontaneously combusted. No one even touched him yet somehow in his planting his knee bent in multiple ways the human knee is not meant to bend
So much Teddy hate here. Never expected that.
No one is really hating on him, he's just not very good. He threw 14 TDs in 2015. Those numbers are easily replaceable. It's just a shame that a team like Minnesota with talent everywhere on the field, except behind center, is going to have to rely on Sam Bradford for the foreseeable future. Kansas City and Minnesota are perfect examples of why you have to have a QB that can make plays to win big games in the NFL.
Here is my 2 cents:
Teddy was very OK last year. He fumbled the ball on two game winning drives against Arizona and Denver, and this injury coupled with his low accuracy and lack of mobility outside the pocket probably means he isn't Minnesota's QB of the future. He gives you above average stats, but he can't carry a team on his back like Rodgers or Brady. The Bradford trade was made to give the Vikings a fighting chance to go deep in the playoffs, but just about every player on the offensive line got injured. Bradford's numbers were pretty similar to Teddy's and Teddy did not have a stagnant running game and no O-line. Bradford will probably pick up a 3-4 year contract extension from the Vikings this year and Spielman will try to break Teddy in slowly. Looking forward, neither of these guys are the QB of the future and Spielman will use at least one of his late round picks this year to make a Hackenberg-like pick to try and breed a franchise QB. Thier draft pick potental is not impressive this year because of the Bradford trade and the lack of depth at OLB and the O-line. Right now they have to be in win now mode because great defenses don't come around every year
