As reported by Andy Bitter:
#Hokies announce RB Marshawn Williams will call it a career after suffering 3 knee injuries in 3 years. Will get medical disqualification.ā Andy Bitter (@AndyBitterVT) January 31, 2017
VT released a full story (linked below). Andy also reports that Juice will remain enrolled at VT on scholarship, but this will not count against the football team's numbers.

"On behalf of our coaches and our medical staff, it's come as no surprise that Marshawn has remained upbeat and positive despite suffering another injury that led to this difficult decision," Fuente said. "Marshawn has fought a good fight for himself and the Hokies, and we're glad that he'll continue his education at Virginia Tech even though this latest injury will prevent him from continuing his football career."

that's a shame...he was probably my favorite RB
...the numbers always work out /s
In all seriousness, I hope Juice puts his degree from one of the greatest universities in the country to good use to secure his future outside of football (unless he coaches, which I would be cool with, too). I wish him all the success in the world.
Thanks for OSU Juice
Dammit, I feel for him. I wish the best for him moving forward with his life without football.
I had always hoped that Juice would come back and be the featured back.
Wow...that's really sucky news and it isn't even Monday. Feel sorry for Marshawn, nobody deserves to go through what he went through. Thanks for giving it your all Marshawn, once a Hokie, always a Hokie!

Shame, he was a damn good player and seemed like a good kid. Great to hear he'll get to keep his scholarship though.
I feel bad that he isn't going to be able to pursue his passion for football on the field anymore. I hope he is able to channel that drive and focus into his education at Tech.
Let's not forget this quote from his final game:

Damn. I had always envisioned he and Shai being the best 1-2 punch we've had since Ru and Evans.
I know right? In the first half of 2014 they both seemed so promising. It's really a shame that injuries (and some other things in Shai's case) cut them short.
At least we have the Dragon, it looks like he regained some form by the end of this season. I think there's a chance he has a comeback year next year with his improved confidence and hopefully also a more experienced line.
Though disheartened, I'm not altogether surprised.
Thanks for the work, Juice. Salute from the Peninsula District.
So much promise from this young man. This is a very sad day. Juice was one of my faves next to Sam. Those highlights of him running over Junior and Senior defenders in Fall camp his freshman year got everybody in #HokieNation "juiced" up. This on the heels of Bitter's report on the 2012 class show you just how hard it is to make it at this level. Good luck in your recovery, Juice!!!

Thanks Juice! Onward and upward!
Hate to see someone forced to give up the sport they love. Good luck in all of your future endeavors, young man.
Sad for VT and marshawn, hope for the best.
Damn. Loved Marshawn. Best of luck to him moving forward.
He reminded me of Marshawn Lynch. Too bad Marshawn Williams will not win a SB as a player. Hopefully he can win one as a RB coach. # BEAST MODE.
I'm not surprised at all, but that doesn't mean I'm not sad, dammit!!!
Sucks but glad he is keeping his future health in mind. Hopefully he gets his medical disqualification so school is still paid for and gets a useful degree to go out in the real world and bowl people over...
I'm going to miss updating my Facebook status with "Predator doing predator things" after his TD runs.
Damn man. This sucks.
Would have been fitting to see cleats hanging from power lines somewhere. Gonna miss this guy. Behind Rogers, this was my next favorite guy.

100% this. As a coach, it's always heartwarming when you have a kid that gives his all, and then some. I wish this kid all the best and I know, without a doubt, that he will be successful in whatever he does in life. GOOD LUCK JUICE!
Came here to post this. Marshawn was my favorite of the backs in his class and I always loved how he ran.
Best of luck Marshawn, one of us.
Bad news. I hope things work out for him.
Unfortunately I was at both VT games he got the knee banged up.
It's not like a college athlete with 7,000 followers on Twitter to respond to a high schooler's direct message, but Juice did. I tore my ACL shortly after he did, and I wanted to ask him about the experience and how to go about rehab. He responded immediately, was thorough, and was humble. I never rooted for a Tech player as hard as I rooted for him. I wish him the best in wherever life takes him.
Juice is my favorite runningback in the last ~5 years or so. Good luck, dude.
Apologies if this has already been posted, but I couldn't find it anywhere. Credit to Andy Bitter for pointing this out. Looks like Juice will still with the team as a "coach". How cool is that? Cool that Fuente allows him to stay with the team and cool that Marshawn chooses to help his teammates. Amazing character all around!
