And his teammates and coaches are quick to note that both postseason interceptions were not his fault.

Kid sure can throw..
I feel like he hit all those WRs in stride, even the 60 yard bombs. Also has some great pocket awareness. His mechanics are a bit off.
I watched the tape about 5 minutes. I saw maybe 3 guys having to wait a second for the ball to arrive. Most were in stride as you said. Surprised smaller schools haven't come knocking. his profile on the Hudl page said he is 6'2" and 220 lbs. I know that gets exaggerated, but usually an inch, maybe two? And how do you say 220 if he's 190 or so? I'm missing something.
I don't care how tall he is, there is a chance he can get taller, if he doesn't we can always do the old switcharoo like we did with Greg Boone and Bucky. Got to believe you can find a spot for a kid like this on your squad.

EDIT after watching HUDL: The kid definitely looks loke he flicks the ball around with ease. He does look like he needs to hold the ball higher. It's kind of like watching Tebow but this kid is far better and seems to be more natural.
Scary how much that kid reminds me of Michael Vick. The accuracy and ease which he throws the deep ball just brings back memories
I agree. I had to watch a few videos to see if that wrist flick was real. This kid has a touch to even throw a nice back shoulder pass. With enough college level development, this kid is going to be some school's gem.
I love that he's willing to work as a handyman part-time. Speaks to his humility when he's probably the king of a "FNL town".
Papa Frank used to make a living off prospects like this. Highly productive players in high school that no one wanted because they didn't "look the part".
Funete isn't stupid. He's probably on either his radar or Cornselon/Guerry/Cantor's radar. If he's talented enough to merit an offer, he'll get an offer. If not, I hope he gets one somewhere else because he can be a diamond in the rough for someone.
Guys, there are kids like this all over the country that put up big numbers in high school. He plays in a very low level of Georgia high school football. There's a reason he isn't recruited by schools, including our own.
Looks to me like he is sub 6' and has a release point of a 5'-5" guy. He undeniably made some pretty throws though.
His 40 time is also horrid.
So are alot of QBs. I could make you a long list of very successful QBs who were also very slow.
No, this definitely isn't a kid you want running read-option or option plays, but, seriously, if you are Toledo or Ball State...you wouldn't give a kid like this an offer???

Yeah, but when he hit someone it was a trampling of beauty. Too bad the 49ers were intent on making him the next Steve Young, forcing him to lose 30-40 lbs. He never was going to fit that mold and couldnt get that beef and strength back after leaving the 49ers. Sad day when he played in the XFL. Sadder day when ESPN listed him as a complete bust in one of those look back shows.
Drunk had other more basic problems at the NFL level than 49ers asking him to slim down. But I do agree, of all the teams that year that was probably the WORST fit for him. Was shocked they picked a big, slow, lumbering QB for an offense built around a quick, fleet footed Steve Young.

I never mind if the kid wants to walk on. I wouldn't use a scholarship, especially given that there are five QBs now, 3 are on scholarship, one is a former P5 starter, Ellis is committed and they are hot for Joyner, Robinson (from Chicago) and perhaps Dylan Hopkins.
I was looking for some shotgun analysis on his tape. Nothing serious or deep, just what you saw from his tape.
He definitely has a low release, but throws a very pretty ball. He may not be P5 Scholarship material, but its hard to believe that a MAC school wouldn't take a chance on a kid like this....
This is why there are Div-II and III schools, people. His path may meander more than average, but if he's got the talent and drive, he can get to Div-1 and maybe NFL someday. Remember, Jerry Rice didn't play big conference ball, either.

Tape is impressive, but plenty of kids are really good in high school and have a good tape. Hope he latches on somewhere and is a stud.
I think that the fact that most of his throws are go's and fades is what hurts him as a pocket passsing recruit. Kid does got talent though !
I don't think we need to use another scholarship on a quarterback and he seems set on not changing positions.
