The Key Play - Top Plays of 2016 Finals

After a much less competitive semi-final, I have a feeling the finals will be a lot closer. In the semi-finals, the ACC Championship Game Fake Punt beat Jerod's TD run against ECU 68.1% yo 31.9% and Sam's Touchdown Pass beat Cam's Juke 73.3% to 26.7%.

Here's the bracket:

And a link to the voting. I'll close the voting Thursday night at 8:00 to give an extra day to make sure everyone can vote in the finals!

Here are the plays:

The fake punt was great, but with the TKP love for everything Sam Rogers, this wont even be close.
This will go like 70-30 at least...

edit: and i have no problem with that. Voted for sam, in fact.

My wife takes the kids and leaves the house while I watch my Hokie games.........nuff said

This! Nailed it. A FB to FB pass will win!
It was especially unique & helped beat Miami, both are all Hokie!
Smells like victory!

Can't say Sam's pass was my overall favorite, but had to vote for it every round based on the match ups.

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

NOOOOO Stroman's return was my overall #1. This feels like how March Madness always goes.

Oh wait, no it's not. If that were the case, Stro would have been eliminated in the first round.

I was surprised more didn't vote for Shegog's int last round - without that, we don't beat Arkansas for the Belk Bowl.

I think that play gets lost in the total ass-kicking the defense was handing out in the second half. Shegog played out of his mind, for sure, but overall the defense was clicking completely.

"Exit light..."

I just did not think it was that impressive of a play. I was strictly voting on each play in its own vacuum.

Each play from the second half of that game has an argument for play of the year.

Love both of them!

It was such a tough decision, but I had to go with Sam's pass. How often do you see a FB pass to another FB for a TD?

I'm going to go with "once".

Guys. FULLBACK to FULLBACK pass! We had two fullbacks in one a play and they both got a touchdown!

Can't believe Jerod's TD vs ECU didn't go all the way

Because it was a game against Eastern Carolina University...

Freely admit, I forgot to vote in the second and third rounds. Can we have a do-over, signed UNC.

Sorry, but like it was discussed in the previous thread I went with game impact. I think the fake punt had a bigger IMPACT than the FB2FB pass. We had zero momentum in that game and it looked like we were about to get run off the field until that play. the FB2FB pass was special and it was in a big game...but it didnt provide a complete 180 in terms of the game's outcome. Also the jump pass itself was funny to watch

Y'all can downvote me all you want but I'm about to speak the dam truth. Cam Phillips broke that mans ankles and left him on the 5 yard line to die. It was perfect.

uva sucks

But Sam Rogers stepped on the field and left da u to die.

This should be runner up next to the fake punt. Cam destroyed those two guys and it was an amazing play.

Yep. I move that the finals should be scrapped for a 4 play round robin grouping. Wins get 3 points, ties get 1, losses get zero. Assign final 4 ranking based on points to allow Cam's ankle breaking a chance at second place...

totally kidding. don't want to make more work for the OP...

I would like to know the hit count that Cam accrued this season from all of the ankles he has assassinated. What impact does this make on the soul of his football playing? Does each ankle sacrifice make him stronger? Do his powers increase more with the intensity of the cut and ankle carnage? His powers clearly increased after the ND game. He was slaughtering Tigers in the ACC championship game as well. After his cut in the ND game where he essentially snapped Jalen Elliot in half, did he become the Ra's al Ghul of ankle assassins? Does he now lead a secret League of Ankle Assassins? Who are his underlings?

Sounds like we may have a found and replacement stat for TheFifthFuller to use instead of FAINTS.

I told him I’d crawl on my hands and knees to be the DL coach at Virginia Tech. Now, all of a sudden, I’m sitting in this chair and I told him I’d still crawl on my hands and knees to work here. I just want to be here.

Fake punt takes it hands down. The play call, the situation, the execution, the almost overthrown jump shot, the bobble one hand catch? Against the National Champions? Come on man there is no chance for the FB pass to take this!

I'd also like to point out that (based on our voting) our top 2 plays of the year were in #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING.

I feel like Cam's juke was so sick that it easily could've been in the finals if it weren't matched up against the Sam Rogers TD pass. Are we going to vote on a 3rd place or just settling on the overall winner?

Anyone see that? I think Gallo just missed another block.

Danny caught it.

Voting ends tonight at 8:00. Vote if you haven't! But don't vote again if you have because you can do that and I didn't want to make people sign in/up for google accounts to vote.
