Does anyone have a recap of their respective Hokie Club recruit night?

I didn't attend any of the Hokie Club recruit nights I've seen advertised over the last week. (I don't live in Virginia, otherwise I would have.) Did any fellow TKPers go, and if so, would they share a summary of the event? This might be a good chance to compare and contrast notes from the different coaches too. I offer a thank you in advance.

The Lima, Peru chapter met yesterday for lunch and I gotta tell you, the wife and I were very disappointed that no VT coaches took up our offer for free lomo saltado and cebiche. Would have even sprung for some local vino tinto or Cusquena cerveza, but nooooooooo!

Maybe next year.......

Please tell me your wife is named Joanie.

LOL! No, but she is a class of 87 Hokie girl who has followed me all over the world. And she has almost single-handedly adopted 5 amazing kids (I mostly just wrote the checks and cheered her along). She has loved me these 29 years like a true Hokie, eat your heart out Joanie, wherever you are. Bragging completed

Perpetually broke dude is more accurate, otherwise I would be a Key Player. Hopefully in June when the minivan is paid off. Love my Hokies though, Ut Prosim!

I appreciate the insight from these meetings and couldn't attend. That being said, the coaches ask for their frank comments to not be shared and we should respect that.

their frank comments

I understand why they want them to not be shared, but I don't see why they should expect any discretion at what are essentially public meetings. We are, after all, the ones paying for them to have any chance at winning.

Because they ask? I am honoring the request, and it seems most are.

Maybe. I'm just curious what the point of saying anything is if it's not to be shared. I would assume two things:

  1. Anything they say here could be used to build hype.
  2. Someone in the audience is going to spill the beans anyway.

(Playing devil's advocate here, more than anything.)

Honestly there wasn't a whole lot that was "new". The staff seemed to have a script for the night and didn't deviate. Back in the day, Cave would tell great stories, this staff kept it very factual with very little "off the cuff" type comments.
Diablo moving to D
Patterson was close to losing his redshirt last year in season
Very high on Farley and his speed. Said he came to school ready to play
Gushed about Hunter, said they want him to have impact on and off the field this year (recruiting).

I'll try to put together a summary of the NoVa player comments later today or tomorrow.

Here's a tease though...any guesses on the "gem of the class"?

Oscar Bradburn?

uva sucks

We won't know until 4:00.

In Richmond, Galen Scott was great. Noticeably different from last year when he was with the Hokies for about a month when he spoke. That guy can work a room. I can only imagine him in a recruit's living room or with high school coaches on the recruiting trail now that they are settling into the area.

In addition to the recruits, a couple of interesting things he touched on were the collaborative nature of the D with the new coaches working with Foster, the roll of social media in recruiting whether it is communicating with recruits or how there are fewer "steals" recruiting with platform the recruits have.
