OT: Torrian Gray leaves Florida. Accepts position at Washington Redskins.

"The Florida Gators are looking for another assistant coach according to sources with Fightin' Gators. Defensive back coach Torrian Gray will be departing for a defensive back coaching position in the NFL according to the source, just a year after being hired away from his Alma Mater Virginia Tech."

Our dude is moving up in the world, good luck Coach Gray!

Years of NFL organizations praising the preparedness, knowledge of the game, and comfortability with schemes of our defensive backs upon their arrival to the NFL was bound to get Torrian on the NFL's radar.

Why does God hate me so?

Idk but he's loving me!

A decade on TKP and it's been time well spent.

Again during the week after NSD?

Gotta love the post NSD assistant coaches leaving their jobs.

LSU fired two coaches the day after NSD, at least Torrian is getting promoted as part of leaving.

Yeees!! 1) happy for him 2) this feels SO much better than him coaching at another school.

Movin' on up. Good luck coach! The more Hokies in the NFL (either players or coaches) the better.

I found TKP after two rails from TOTS then walking back to my apartment and re-watching the 2012 Sugar Bowl. I woke up the next day with this username.

Good thing he's both

Well now he doesn't have to worry about saying hi to his players mom's...

I just saw this on the wash post. Crazy how he jumped to the pros so soon after taking the job at UF. Well now they can no longer try to be called DBU.

Great hire by the Skins.

I'm not only happy for Torian, but also happy that he gets to coach for the good guys of Sunday. Hail!

uva sucks

T Gray is about to be back at VT scouting db's he helped recruit for the next two years.

Was this part of the deal to get a Fuller? /S

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Wellllll

I guess this solves the debate on who keeps DBU.....

Is coronavirus over yet?

I'd much rather seem him with the Redskins than UF.

As I Skins fan... I approve of this message!

Brad Stewart was a top Hokies target at corner. Brad Stewart picks Torrian and the Gators. Torrian leaves. French haz sadz.

Five star get after it 100 percent Juice Key-Playing. MAN

Chin up French, Florida $chool$ will always have a few recruiting advantages over VT. Thankfully, some of those advantages also turn into distractions.

I like this sooo much better. Great for Torrian and VT. Also wonder if he would've gotten this opportunity if he stayed here... I doubt it. I'm glad his career is progressing and hope he gets some DC experience down the road too

Also wonder if he would've gotten this opportunity if he stayed here... I doubt it.

Dude seriously? He's already been an NFL coach and one year at UF, not at VT gets him back?

'Its easy to grin, when your ship comes in, and you've got the stock market beat,
but the man worthwhile, is the man who can smile, when his shorts are too tight in the seat'

Maybe I am reading too much into the comment, but I think staying at VT said "'I'm home, not interested", while jumping to DBU Wannabe says "I'm interested in new opportunities". Maybe having the right agent gets the job either way, but he may have been loyal enough to Beamer to have declined before, and needed to send a "I'm single" message to get asked to the dance.

Cue confusing quote marks GIF.

Really hope he reps VT from his new platform!

Sometimes we live no particular way but our own

This is all I was suggesting haha, thanks. It just seems (to me) the jump from DB coach at VT to DB coach at UF wasn't about that gig itself but more about career progression, which is what I believe he's stated. You stated it much better than me though!

I'm not proclaiming he wouldn't have gotten this offer if he stayed at VT this past season, I have no idea. I was wondering aloud really, and suspect the SEC gig probably got his name back on a bigger radar (which I assume was his intent, the coaches that stay in one place often get forgotten it seems)

So is Pete gonna subtweet the redskins now?
