I'm really hoping that Brad Brownell does not get fired for purely selfish reasons. Will Wade (VCU HC) is a Clemson alum and would be the obvious choice to replace Brownell.
I'm a Richmond native and I see how big the impact VCU Basketball makes on the city. I want them to be good just for the sake of Richmond. Tired of seeing VCU Basketball become a stepping stone job (Jeff Capel to Oklahoma, Anthony Grant to Alabama, Shaka Smart to Texas).
Of course there's no guarantee that Wade leaves VCU for Clemson but I think moving from the CAA A10 to an ACC school (one with cash falling from the sky because of their football program) is rational.

That VCU stepping stone has not been kind after leaving Richmond.
Shaka made it very clear to the UTex AD that his system would take 3-4 years to bear fruit before getting hired on. I hope that they stay patient and give him the chance.
next year is year 3; apparently they have no true/talented pg on the roster now, but one of the top high school pg's in the country is committed for next season. if they don't make the tourney next year i would be a little concerned
Remember when we thought Shaka Smart was coming to Blacksburg? Love the guy, but I'm happy with what we have right now moreso than I would probably be with Shaka.
Thought VCU is an Atlantic 10(?) team.
They are. They joined the A10 for the 2012-2013 season.
Damn. What am I going to do with my NIT bracket now?
The NIT tried to get a Clemson-Bama matchup in round 2 and both lost. Lol.
Now Richmond will be hosting Oakland at the Robins Center.
It has not been a kind day for higher seeds in the NIT. Maybe that bodes well for 8 seed UNCG tomorrow..
Clemson isn't the one you need to worry about, I think NC State is a bigger potential suitor for Will Wade
Given the ridiculous expectations NC State has for their program coupled with Wade being a Clemson alum, I think Wade would choose Clemson over State given the opportunity.
So much for all the talking heads talking about how Clemson was so much better than their records indicated. Well, they lost in the first round of the NIT to a lower ranked team after blowing a 20 point lead. They ARE as bad as their record indicates.
One way or another, Clemsoning happens.
It takes a guy named Dabo to prevent Clemson from Clemsoning. Never thought I'd say that.
Clemson's season died as it lived.
I get that Clemson is an ACC school and all, but in all honesty is it a better job than VCU? I honestly don't think that it is.
Neither was VT when Buzz took over. And Buzz had no tie to the program whatsoever.
Don't let this distract you from the fact ND went 4-8 this year AND Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead at the half.
