If this pushes anyone to come to Blacksburg for the game, I'll be tailgating in Cassell Lot starting around 8 am. There will be bacon, burgers, beer (a citrus hopped Saison), and bourbon (lots of bourbon)! There will be other food, too. But that's really all you need. Any TKPer is more than welcome!

I'll bring a plate and empty Solo cup.

We put the K in Kwality

I'll bring the Cornhole and pigskin

West Virginian by birth, Hokie by choice

I'm not sure who makes this decision, as last year's game wasn't televised either (maybe Fuente doesn't want it televised?), but if ESPN is picking the likes of UAB, NC State, Kentucky, or Syracuse over us....

Hokies United l Ut Prosim

I get UAB because the controversy over the program might draw viewers but totally agree with the others. Speaking with zero sauces, I would guess it's CJF as he it seems consistent with closed practices and such.

I get it from a certain level, but doesn't showing it help with recruiting?

What's
Important
Now

As I recall, having recruits on hand last year to see a packed house for a spring game made quite the impression.

Bad news for those of us who live 9+ hours away from Blacksburg, but if it has me considering driving down for the weekend then it's doing what it was supposed to accomplish.

speak for yourself lol come on and make the drive!

ive missed a couple spring games (because of spring football that I coach here) but I always regret it. its only one weekend out of 7 or so months of absence from hokie football. you can do ittttt!!!!!

Eh, we'll see. Just finishing up a supremely busy March, after a fairly busy February, and I'll take the next couple weeks to relax and see where I am in the leadup to the spring game.

Also my PTO bank needs to replenish a bit, but there may be ways around that.

Need some past experiances from y'all. Anyone taken a kid or two just themselves? Last year we did the entire family and that's a no go ever again until they are older.

I've taken a 3 year old boy once and another time took a 5 year old boy and 3 year old girl. Both times they only lasted as long as the concessions kept coming. Then I got maybe another ten minutes where they ran up and down the west stands before getting bored. At the time, I lived walking distance from the stadium so it was no big deal to bail. I would not have driven from SC...

I've taken my son (6 now) twice. He loves it. Plus there's a lot for them to do around the game.

We put the K in Kwality

Found out today we are taking a SURPRISE trip to Disney World and we won't be back to SC until the 21st. Don't think Mrs. Fireman will like me leaving that night for Blacksburg.

Last year my wife and I took our then 6 month old. She did really well and it was mostly enjoyable for all. She got tired at the end and we left with just a few minutes to go in the "game."

This year my wife can't go, but said I can take the kid who is now 1.5 and can walk/run/climb/fall. NOPE! I am not taking that on with a 1:1 ratio.

That's a tough one. I'd say try to tire the kid out in pregame festivities and then pop her into an ergo or other baby carrier and hope she sleeps through the whole game.

I'm driving up for it this year, primarily because I can't watch in on WatchESPN. Kind of annoying that we can't stream it but glad to put another couple of bodies in the stands. Should be a really fun weekend.

Good

More unknowns for WVU to have to prepare for.

Le sigh... oh well. I guess I'll be waiting around here again looking for all of your amateur summaries, write-ups, and analysis after the game.

Using /s is for cowards.

Damn, this sucks. Was really hoping it would be televised. I hope this isn't Fuente's doing, I dont think this really gives us an advantage come regular season.

It feels batman that bandwagon alabama fans from Timbuktu get to see their spring game, but diehard tech fans/alumnus cant.

Chick Patty w/ Cheese

As someone else mentioned, it (along with excitement over the new offense) drew a huge crowd last year. It forced people who were nearby, but planning on watching on tv, to get their butts in the stadium. As someone who is 4 and 1/2 hours away, it sucks, but I want recruits to be impressed by our spring game crowd. Alabama can broadcast their spring game with any and all mediums they choose because they put 90k tails in seats every spring game.

If Fuente prefers it not be televised, I'm really fine with it.

If it gives us any advantage at all, for me it's worth it.

Really sucks for us living so far out of state. I will have to get by on periscope and snapchat or whatever else the staff feels like releasing.

I will be there like in disguise, but if a randon fat man wearing a fake mustache sneaks into your tailgate and snags a burger, ask him about how the offensive line looks...

French, you are always welcome at my tailgate! I will be wearing a TKP shirt for the spring game. My group starts very early, so we'll be parked in the Cassell lot along Washington street directly across from the Ambler-Johnston residence halls.
