Blatant TKPC Promotion; That french60wasp Fellow Knows his Stuff

At the risk of French catching wind of me tooting his horn (that reads awkward), I wanted to highlight a response from Josh Jackson when asked about adjusting his technique from high school to college.

"It's been an adjustment," Jackson said. "It's a little bit different than how I did things in high school. I had a little bit more time, but now with the speed of the game, and how it's really ramped up, I have to be a lot quicker. Can't take too many missed steps or false steps or anything like that. I really have to just flip and throw."

This is an excerpt from French's Handicapping the Hokies' Quarterback Battle film analysis that was published for TKPC members in March.

From a mechanics perspective, the greatest cause for concern involves Jackson's footwork. Many of the throws in Fuente's offense come almost immediately off of a play fake. There are many plays on Jackson's film where he fakes a handoff and then backpedals a step or two to get set before stepping into the throw (the latter of which he does very well). That could be the way the Saline staff taught him. However, if those extra steps and patting the ball are tools he uses to get in rhythm, it would not mesh well with the quick hitches and slants that were staples of the Hokies' offense in 2016.

Yes, this is a blatant promotion to to join The Key Players Club. I hope 2017 is the year TKPC hits its 1,000 members goal and TKP can add a dedicated staffer.

I should be joining soon enough guys. While being a stay at home dad for the past year was fun, I was just recently hired by BattleSpaceFS...good pay, decent hours.... I'll definitely have spare money for a membership.

I so excite! *thumbs up*

Nah, I'll be working here at Ellsworth AFB

I just watched a little under an hour of YouTube vids about Virginia Tech's QB competition. The only thing I learned from outside of TKP is that Hooker passed out his first day of conditioning (which is respectable in his effort). The backgrounds of these kids, the split reps, the talents, the intangibles...those are all here. I have 10 minutes over lunch (and conference calls here and there), and part of my miller lite evenings to be a part of this place. It is worth every cent to be this informed about the thing I care about most in this world outside of my family. So proud to be apart of this community and I hope others take notice and keep it going.

To Joe, French, Alex, Itrepeter (shooty ball), the 5th fuller, numberswiz and everyone else that is eluding my beer filled mind. I love this place and I appreciate everything that everyone contributes to this place.

edit: Alex Koma's article beat me by 4 hours on the Hooker conditioning mishap, just to prove my point more

Never noticed before how the timing of the flag indicator makes it look like the ref didn't approve of that contact between Frank and Bud.

The Orange and Maroon you see, that's fighting on to victory.

We're nearly halfway there!

Whoa-oh! Nearly livin on a prayer!

Take my hand, we'll nearly make it, I swear

Can vouch.

Are the Desert Ducks still flying out of Manama International? I only ask because long ago, I was one. I suspect that they fly SH-60's now instead of the venerable SH-3's of my day. Thanks.

Edit: I see that they are the Desert Hawks now flying the 60's since 2005.

Don't know about Desert Hawks/Ducks, I've got my own Seahawks I carry around with me, so to speak. SH-60 type.

Flying a helicopter seems like one of the most difficult things a person could do. I struggle with them in video games lol.

At a helicopter aerodynamics course taught by Ray Prouty, we were told that any monkey can fly a plane. It takes a trained monkey to fly a helicopter. ;)

As a former helo pilot, I can confirm this statement. With modern avionics (autopilot and stabilization systems) flying a helicopter from point A to point B is as easy as flying a plane. The real challenge in helicopter flying comes at night and/or close to the ground/ocean. You have to precisely coordinate independent movements of both hands and both feet while simultaneously communicating with your crew and outside entities in order to maintain situational awareness and not crash.

Imagine landing in pitch black night on the moving deck of a small ship, or in a line of other aircraft fitting into an open field surrounded by tall trees. Very little room for error. Great fun for adrenaline junkies though.

damn, the next few months are going to SUCK for you. I'll be in UAE in month most likely.

I had a blast in Bahrain over the summer of 1990. Hot as Hades, but loads of fun going on hash runs with the brits, meeting the ladies from the Gulf Airlines stew school, and many afternoons at the pool with Heinekens and shawarmas. Good times, long ago.

mostly just meant the heat. But you are definitely not wrong, there is a lot of fun to be had if you know where to find it.

Not here long, just long enough to realize I should stay in the hotel and use the WiFi for a few days. Maybe we'll cross paths in the near future...

edit: Benefit of my line of work is I get to visit these places for a few days and not have to get acclimated. Beautiful though, palm trees and shiny buildings. Reminds me of Dubai a few years ago.

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

This may be a dumb question, but how does one contact Joe et. al.? I don't see any links or email addresses on the site. What am I missing? TIA.

If TKP reaches its goal, Joe can hire an editor to catch the awkward horn tooting before it goes to print.

On second thought, maybe it's fine the way it is. /s Keep up the good work.
