Quite a few sites have strange descriptions of Isaiah when it comes to scouting him for the draft. One says he's not fast enough to beat defenders over the top and then makes his NFL comparison Kenny Stills. I see him more as an Anquan Boldin type.

Both are receivers who don't win with speed, and can straight up win 50/50 balls.
Any thoughts?

But I would agree, somewhere between Kenny Stills and Boldin. If he gets an exceptional WR coach with the Dolphins he may see significant field action. Whom else do the fins have at WR anyways? I was also thinking (and this may sound nostalgic) Andre Rison.
i mean they have a top 15 wr in the game in jarvis landry and a former first rounder in devante parker. Its all fine and dandy though because those 2 belong on the sidelines. ive said it 1 million times fords route running and reliable hands make him a very viable slot receiver, coupled with solid blocking skills and a good work ethic.. hell be around for a bit. thing i worry about is captain noodle-arm playing qb for the fins. hes decidedly average and cannot stretch the field
Jarvis Landry is a talented wide receiver but his production is inflated by how often the ball is schemed his way. He is also often schemed open. He's actually been very hit or miss at creating his own space in the NFL. I believe Devante Parker has a much higher ceiling. I do agree overall, that Ford is a good fit for the Dolphins and should be in a good position to win a spot for the Phins.
Fins fan here (blame my dad)..Devante Parker and Kenny Stills, along with Landry are the top 3 receivers for the Dolphins. The other 3 receivers on the roster are nothing too special. I think that Ford can easily be that 4th receiver. His main competition will be Leonte Caroo (6'2, 214) and Rashawn Scott (6'2, 202). I haven't been super impressed with either of them so hopefully he can beat them out in training camp.
Whenever a WR has a below average speed he is Anquon Boldin. Why?

I think its cause he's one of the only slow receiver who has turned himself into a stud. But I always laugh a bit when I see the comparison because none of them are ever as physically dominating as Boldin. That guy has to be the most physical wide receiver ever, he dominates DEs/LBs in the run game.

He just needs to go in there and move the chains. That's his role as an NFL WR right now. If he gets 4 rec, 36 yards a game, and 3 or 4 first downs he can have a really good start for his career and then go from there.
3 or 4 catches and 4 first downs a game a start. Hell thats starting 2nd receiver numbers thats 64 receptions a year. If he can come in and do that he will have no problem sticking around. I think as a 7th rounder he needs to find a way to become valuable on special teams to start.
I've always thought Ford reminded me a bit of Antonio Brown. Not to mention he was a 6th round pick. Cheers to having the same kind of NFL career.

Brown is an extremely productive receiver from a relatively smaller level football program that could use another year in college to continue to develop physically. He is undersized and will initially struggle with the physical aspects of the game at the next level. He generally has lined up out of the slot and would have trouble with his release against some of the physical cornerbacks at the next level if he lines up on the line of scrimmage. He is explosive off the line and will show a good burst out of his speed cuts but needs work on his hard cuts and underneath routes. He has decent hands but it looks like the ball gets big on him at times and he traps too many passes in his body.
I completely agree. Both solid route-runners, do a great job of using their bodies to create separation when there isn't any, and have very good hands. AB is probably more elusive with the ball in his hands. I'm a Steelers fan and never realized he only ran a 4.56, just shows you how irrelevant the 40 can be considering AB is arguably the best receiver in the league with the ball.
Ford is gonna be an absolute star. In 5 years the "experts" are going to be looking back wondering how they missed on this one.

Boldin is extremely physical, not a good comparison in my opinion. Ford will have to win being savy and working hard and I think he will. Problem is being the all time best at WR at a school not known for offense or receivers probably negated his good numbers.

No way Boykin's hands are as big as Isaiah's.
Completely agree on the Antonio Brown comparison. Coming out for college, AB was seen as a similar prospect in that he didn't have the frame/size to succeed on the outside or the speed to be a slot receiver. AB is definitely quicker/shiftier but their positive traits (hands, routes, body control) and apparent cons (frame, straight line speed) are very similar.
I always thought that he'd be like Mohamed Sanu. Similar size, and Sanu was just a bit slower, but also a fairly reliable receiver. Sanu ended up going in the third round.

Who can say? He hasn't played a down of NFL football. To try and compare him to someone with a successful NFL career or an NFL star is ludicrous.

This is what I was thinking as a Redskins fan.
This is the most accurate current NFL comparison in my mind. Garcon, like Ford, will be best used as a #2 WR lined up opposite of the your #1 speedster given his savvy route running and solid hands. I've heard a lot of people say put him in the slot but in todays NFL you want short area quickness in that spot (Edelman, Beasley, etc.).

A good sign for Ford if he can do what he did at Tech for the Dolphins.
Please never compare ford to boldin again. Boldin is a WR who looks to destroy people when he's blocking plus he was elite in the open field despite his slower 40 time. I don't see that comparison at all.
Ford is a more productive Jarrett boykin for a past VT comparison IMO.
