Josh Baier a wide receiver out of Cave Spring HS

in Roanoke Va signed with VT as a receiver according to WDBJ7 sports yesterday? Anyone know anything about that report? Go Hokies! Not sure I have the spelling correct on his last name. I spelled it the way it sounded.

Wr, probably stood for wrestling not wide receiver, Lol.

All I found was this article from WDBJ which briefly mentions that...

Wide Receiver Josh Baier is headed to Tech

He doesn't seem to have a 247 profile yet but he probably will soon.

Using /s is for cowards.

Anybody else remember the last recruit we had out of Cave spring, Michael Cole? He was a defensive back for us before he had a neck injury that took him out of football. I remember he had an amazing INT while he was laying on the ground

Yep. Hate that he got hurt. Had a lot of promise.

If you play it, they will win.

Happened at Clemson, awesome part of the beginning of that game. The rest of the game was less awesome. That was also the game where they called Logan Thomas down for a sack while he was standing straight up in the pocket and completed a pass for a first down.

Don't forget the obvious Sammy Watkins fumble we recovered that was erroneously reversed by replay. We had so much MO early in that game.

That game nearly ruined football for me. So many bad calls, we had a shot in that game.

You haven't been a Hokie fan long, have you? /s

Yeah I have, and that game ranks up there.

Whew. That destroyed me as well. Everything that could go wrong...

I seem to recall that.

WARNING the volume on this video seems abnormally high to me

Yeah and the injury happened during the FSU game in 2012. Scary moment inside Lane.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Played intramurals with him after. He was a cool guy and a good athlete

This link would indicate he's signing for wrestling, not as a wide receiver.

Correct. As a Cave Spring alum and Roanoke native, I can confirm that he is a wrestler and not a football player.

So what you're saying is, he will be starting on the offensive line next season?

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

Only after a promised try out at QB and a contemplated move to tight end.

So if your a Roanoke and alumni of Cave Spring, if this is wrestling commit, why nothing about it on the wrestling board at techsideline which is specific to wrestling and pretty much on point. I saw nothing about this after it was reported on WDBJ7 two days ago with no offense. Just curious.

Life's short, If you dont do it, somebody else will.

Could just be walking on. He's definitely not one of the scholarship guys like bolen, borst, lewis and manley.

Cool, thank you Hokies
