Cequan Jefferson was a recruit I was very high on. He would have been good in Bud's defense.

I believe Jake Johnson was a FCS All American as a linebacker at South Alabama. I know he was their leading tackler for a couple of seasons.

CJ Reavis... hope for nothing but success for that kid.

Keep an eye on him. He helps form what is probably the best defensive backfield in Conference USA.

Jake Johnson was a little longer than 4 years ago but definitely agree he would make this list if he was in the past 4 years. But did notice him while watching the Crossfit Games Regional event and he is still a beast.

Cartoons Plural was so much fun to watch. Even though his Tech career was extremely short, it's good to know that he still reps VT every chance he gets.

That is an awesome story. I don't care if he's a Terp I hope he kicks ass this year. I remember being really excited about him as a recruit, why didn't he stick at VT? Was he a casualty of the coaching change?

He transferred before the coaching change.

Didn't he leave around the same time as Reavis?

Yea - I decided to use Google and what I found seemed to suggest that his transfer was somehow tied to the Reavis situation. There was a lot of speculation with very little sourced info so I don't want to repeat it but it seems the story has never really been told, at least not officially.

The rumor (no sauces) from people who were friends with team-members was reavis got ratted by the other guy, I forget what the deal was with Reavis, but he did something...TKP had months of debates over. The Melvin situation just complicated it all...

I'm still pissed about whatever happened with C.J. Reavis. Kid was a baller and Hokie through and through.

If you play it, they will win.

Same. And not knowing the details makes me even more bitter about the whole thing. Best of luck to him.

Exactly.

Saw this on Reddit. If true, it would explain why there were no criminal charges and the frustration levels when he lost the appeal to reverse the student council decision.

No, you are thinking of Shai MacKenzie. Reavis was kicked out because of a sexual assualt/rape accusation. It was investigated by Blacksburg PD but Reavis provided text message transcripts to the police where the girl indicated her intention with Reavis. No charges were ever filed because Reavis had text messages that proved she was a willing participant (or atleast desired to be).

He was kicked out because within the school's judicial affairs system he was not allowed to present the texts as evidence, therefore he had no evidence to show that it was not a sexual assault/rape.

If this is true, thats....infuriating

Yeah. If that's true, it certainly doesn't make me less pissed off.

If you play it, they will win.

It's completely jacked up is what it is. If you follow him on twitter you'll see that he is still very friendly with the guys he played with during his time at Tech. If that's actually true then it blows my mind that he had to leave the university.

Yeah, and he still pretty much exclusively wore VT gear on Last Chance U. I really hope he makes it in the draft next year. I'm guessing his true story will come to light if NFL coaches start inquiring.

I'm not really familiar with VT's system, but if this is true, how the fuck do you have a system that will not let someone present exonerating evidence?

If you play it, they will win.

It's happening at colleges all across the country. And it's bullshit.

The old CJ Reavis thread contained alot of sub-discussion about the student council committee and fam who had experience or knowledge about the group.

But if this reddit comment holds any bit of truth, I don't know what else to say because of other similar and well documented scenarios of past players.

Student council committee almost expelled someone very close to me who went on to become a PhD and now has a pretty high security clearance in the Navy. It's scary how much they have become judge, jury, and executioner.

There are merits of handling certain matters in an extrajudicial manner through student council committees, because college. But it has also introduced issues where there is overlap with criminal law since the standard of guilt seems to be more in line with a preponderance of evidence rather than beyond a reasonable doubt.

And that's about all I'll say without getting political.

Unfortunately its very unlikely to change to anytime soon. Even in cases where someone's family has deep enough pockets and sues the school, it gets settled out of court before it gets to discovery, because its not in the best interest of either side to have all the dirty laundry aired out for the public to see.

The Dear Colleague letter issued by the Dept. of Education in 2011 pretty much destroyed any semblance of due process for people accused of sexual assault on college campuses. Most notably it required that colleges use a preponderance of evidence standard (greater than a 50% chance ) instead of either clear and convincing evidence or beyond a reasonable doubt, it required that they allow accusers to appeal not-guilty verdicts, and strongly encouraged that they not allow cross examinations of accusers.

If true, not only is this frustrating for Reavis, but also for the system as a whole. Every time someone lies about being sexually assaulted, it makes it that much more difficult for actual victims to find justice.

Anyone remember Deveon Simmons or something like that? Hardest hitter on high school film I've ever seen.

Brandon Dillard at WR. Dude graduated from Bassett in 2005 as the 100m and 200m champ. Not as fast of a time as Beck, but man he was blazing fast. Tore his ACL right before the first season he was projected to start and that was the end of it.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

Think it was his Achilles. Dude was sneaky good at basketball, too. I believe he played on the same intramural team with Tyrod and Kam.

Can someone edit the title of the thread so it doesn't mess up the Tracker formatting on mobile?

Got it. Noticed this last night but forgot to change it. Thanks for the reminder.
