This is my first created topic so please be gentle...
In light of the closed practices, canned interview answers, and play-it-close-to-the-vest coaching staff, I find myself over-analyzing official VT Snapchat and Instagram posts. I'm always wondering if there are cryptic messages or hidden Easter eggs based on the daily posts put on IG and SC. Luckily, within our like-minded community of TKP, I know I'm not the only one.
I thought it might be a good time to start a topic where we can all enjoy over-analyzing of social media posts in one central location.
I have noticed a few things myself but feel free to add on any more you notice. Here are two things to start the action:
Leading up to the announcement of Joshua Jackson as QB1, I noticed there was almost a complete absence of JJ clips on Instagram stories other than a few stills here and there. It was almost as if they were trying to make us believe AJ Bush was going to be the starter. JJ was easily the third if not 4th least featured QB in the clips.
My second observation is now we are starting to see a lot of Devon Hunter clips and snippets, are they telling us he might start on D against WVU? sidenote: the kid has amazing feet.
Thoughts?

So wait. Does being featured a lot of mean you are going to start, or that the coaches are trying to fool us into thinking someone else is going to start?
Lol I'm just kidding, but in all seriousness I don't know if there is much rhyme or reason to the social media presence of certain players. I feel like Fu basically makes sure nothing significant is shown for scouting purposes but as far as who is featured and how much it almost feels like it's up to the guy that happens to be holding the phone/tablet/whatever on that given day.

In all honestly, reading in depth to anything posted on these accounts in order to get factual details as to what may or may not happen in the starting lineup is really reaching, IMO. It's (very, very likely) not done by a coach, and I would have to assume that the actual coaching staff has way, way, way more to worry about than what player is or isn't getting airtime on the team's insta and snap pages. I think it's great that they do it and I enjoy the opportunity to get some 'behind the scenes' videos and photos, but I don't make any assumptions at all as to the in-between the lines suggestions of what they may or may not mean for the starting lineup.

I think the players dictate whos on it some as well. ive noticed Terrell gets a TON of camera time and Stro as well. a little bit is I think they seek it. nothing wrong with being Hollywood lol, I have noticed its almost exclusively defensive guys though and QBs. last year we saw a ton of quick snips of the run game, even if it was just in the box stuff but we haven't seen any of that at all this year. ive been complaining to anyone who will listen about the lack of news and highlights coming out of Blacksburg this year making for an even longer off season but I know itll be worth it when we hit the field on sept 3rd.
I move we only call Josh Jackson "Joshie" and not JJ because that makes me immediately think of James Johnson (RIP).

Yeah there aren't cryptic anythings in the posts. I also don't think Hunter is going to start, seems like he'll be starting on special teams and maybe be the second-string rover.
It's all for shits and giggles. Some rando dude walking around practice taking clips. Don't put much thought that there is a rhyme or reason other than no plays shown.
For all we know it could be me doing it.
I'm sure the coaches have preferences of what is on social media and what isn't. The person walking around might have guidelines to follow, such as "make sure none of this drill is documented," or "make sure you get at least this many videos of this drill," etc.

keyed up? Fuente and Cornelsen are fairly good at disguising their gameplan so don't be surprised if they are somehow involved in deciding what clips go online. You never know what play CornFU have in their backpocket....anything can happen on Offense
