ACC Network affiliates 2017 - week 12: Pitt at VT

I'll be updating this one post each week for the ACC Network affiliates, instead of making separate posts like the last couple of years.

"ACC Network" refers to the Raycom broadcast that is syndicate to many local TV affiliates. Not to be confused with the cable channel that will be started by ESPN in 2019. Also, not to be confused with "ACC Network Extra", which is just a ESPN3 online-only broadcast with the fancy logo seen below.

Apparently in some part of the world, these games are made available on WatchESPN, but I haven't figured out where based on how many people I see bitching about a blackout. However, they do stream on the ACC website and app.

There has been a change to kickoff times. While the broadcast still starts at noon with ACC Blitz, the games themselves are scheduled to kick off at 12:20 instead of 12:30.

Week 2 was originally scheduled for a 7 PM kickoff, but then rescheduled to noon, and then cancelled. And then we did get an actual primetime game in week 9. Leading theory is that made up for the lack of a week 2 game.

Occasionally, Raycom will broadcast two games at the same time, as in week 12. Affiliates are split.

The affiliates look mostly the same as last year for the early afternoon games.

Blacksburg: WWCW (the CW part of 21/27)
DC: WDCA 20
Richmond: CW
757: WGNT (CW)
Hooville: NBC 29

Week two had a few variations on the affiliate list as it changed timeslots. Primetime would have been all on CW affiliates in Virginia, while many other markets had the game on subchannels.

The week 1 game was on the CBS station in the 757 area.

And, here are the links for the RSN games. "RSN" literally stands for Regional Sports Network on your cable system. In most areas, it's the Fox Sports Net channel (mostly since Fox is producing the games on a sublicense from ESPN). But since there is no regional Fox Sports in Virginia, NBC Sports Washington (formerly CSN Mid-Atlantic) picks up the games.

"RSN" games are not "ACC Network" games. They appear with the ACC Network Extra logo on ESPN, but for the same reason that the Raycom-produced games do.

The RSN games are also supposedly streaming on WatchESPN, but I've seen them blacked out just as much as the Raycom productions, and they don't even offer another streaming option somewhere else.
