So.... Remember how there was that dropped pass from Grier to Sills in the end zone on that final play? Yeah, on TV it looked like there was a decent pass that found a hole in our defense. Yeah, he was a little more open than I originally thought....
Got that screen capture from the following video, uploaded to YouTube on Monday:
So uhhh... yeah, glad we got that win. Moving onto Delaware. Nothing to see there, nothing at all....

DBU had that all under control bro.
Exit Light, Enter HOKIES.
Great video, thanks for sharing. Scary how close that actually was. Thankfully, close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.
Yeah, but rewatch it and focus on how much pressure Grier was under when he made that throw.
We have always had a great secondary, but our secondary has always been made to look that much better by the different ways Foster puts pressure on the opposing QB. It would be hard to hit the broad side of a barn with 300 pounds of defensive tackle draped across you like a toga.
I remember that, but I also remember how close we were to finishing the game before this as well.
Two different kicks that missed by inches...
Gotta get pressure. I will go to my grave not understanding the lack of blitzing just to rush throws down the stretch.
I'd think Grier would be less inclined to scramble just to be tackled inbounds and drain clock/timeouts. In that light, Bud might be thinking the whole reason he avoided the risk of blitzing goes out the window late in the game.
This was talked about in the Two Deep podcast as well but I wouldn't have been at all surprised if they had gone for two, so no overtime.
I think they would have gone for the tie. Usually you only see 2 when one team is a significant underdog but that was a pretty evenly matched game. I don't think my body could have handled OT.
The second we missed the field goal the thought of them going for 2 immediately ran through my mind. Kept it to myself until 0:00 but those couple minutes felt like an eternity.
go hokies
Tremaine had a pretty bad game overall... in this case he picks Floyd and ends up leaving 2 receivers wide open.
We're fortunate Ricky Walker got some pressure on that play.
ehh, we missed some plays throughout the game as well. I think plays near the end tend to be more magnified.
What if JJ had hit Cam in the end zone early in the game instead of nose diving the ball into the ground?
The linebacker was right in mountain jesus' line of sight and in the direction he was running. He was also going back across his body. And he was about to get buried so he couldn't turn his body or set his feet in any way. He couldn't throw it where he wanted to (towards the left side of the endzone) because of the linebacker and the deeper safety. It wasn't like the Tyrod throw against NEB, with everything flowing in the same direction. The receiver was going the opposite way, and I think that was huge. It's a throw I think a lot of NFL quarterbacks would have a problem getting right. Maybe some of them get some more under it and give the receiver some time to adjust, but the coverage really wasn't THAT bad and some loft would have given DBU some time to get there too.
It would have added significantly to the legend of mountain jesus. And they woulda gone for two.
Play in question starts around the 2 minute mark of the video, in case anyone wants to know.
Damn close...
eh, I don't even think this is a talking point.... we missed 2 kicks that could of sealed the game. Every team can play the "what if" game
Exactly!! What if the refs called holding during the game, what if we made our kicks, what if we caught that early TD, what if they caught that first pass if the game. Everyone makes mistakes in football, both teams and refs.
What the hell was the play design on the first play in the video? It looks like it was either a WR screen or a fake with a receiver slipping past but none of WVU's receivers give much effort and it doesn't look like they know what they are supposed to do.
