A year after recording 106 total tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss and 4.5 sacks, he's already up to 21 total tackles, 4.0 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks through two games this season. His brother, Terrell, is also an NFL prospect -- he's my No. 4-ranked underclassman safety.

No hindsight was needed to know that Logan Thomas was not a top QB prospect. At all. All you needed was eyes on VT games his last 2 seasons lol

In their defense, that assertion was made after his first season, not his third. He had just thrown for over 3,000 yards and run for another 400 or so.
To your point, this was shown to be more a product of the surrounding talent in 2011 versus the next two seasons; however, after 2011, there wasn't much evidence that Thomas didn't have a very high upside.
Anybody who says they didn't think Logan Thomas was a legitimate first round draft prospect during the 2011-2012 offseason (and I'm talking on a national scale, not just VT fans) is lying. Before his 2012 season, he was one of EVERYONE's top QBs and a lot of people's #1 overall projection at that.

Perhaps you're misremembering. He was near the top of the board for the TE rankings, I think.
Everyone likes to have a go at Mel Kiper, but they are working with teams of analysts and are overall way more informed than we are. He's not the only one who has Tremaine as a first rounder. I know we like to play the "they should stay for x!! he's not ready!!" game but the people like that need to prepare themselves for the possibilities that BOTH Edmunds brothers go pro this spring, possibly Tim Settle, and Adonis Alexander as well. It all depends on personal decisions, but it's likely they will all be lauded enough to take off.
I really can't see Settle leaving after this year. I could be wrong, but I feel like it's pretty rare for a r-So DT to make the jump. He's good, but I cannot imagine him being a Top 3 round draft pick. Though with another year or two I think it would be likely.
I would also be surprised if Terrell left early. I would bet he is a late rounder, though I don't know how high his ceiling is, so maybe it would make sense to leave if he has a great year.
Seems like scouts are salivating over Tremaine and Adonis, so I would be pleasantly surprised if we got another year with them.
I agree on Settle that we hopefully have one more year with him and Walker until we recruit/develop some good d-line replacements. I do think that depending on the year Terrell might leave if he has another All-ACC year. He's ranked #4 out of the safetys on Mel Kiper's board and #2 of strong safetys, and could be a 2nd-3rd round pick. I agree the measurables of Tremaine and Adonis make it look like they are 1st-2nd round locks but we will see how the season plays out.
Bucky and Evans had the measurables too.. Hopefully they see how that worked out and are cautious of agents/scouts telling them they have early round potential.. That being said, I think Tremaine and Adonis are more NFL ready than both of the examples I listed by a good amount.. I think they are gone, and if one Edmonds goes I don't see a scenario where the other stays behind...
I agree Bucky had the measurables but Evans really only had the stats. Even scouts were shocked when he declared so I don't think they were the ones telling him he had early round potential if he left early.

Nothing personal, but unless Settle has an all-ACC kinda season, it would be crazy for him to leave. Seriously, he might want to work on conditioning with Hilgart to stay on the field for extended periods of time - NFL rosters are built for over-timers - players who can stay on the field and do a variety of things - not part-timers. I mean, you need to master the college game before even considering the pro game, right?
I would love to see if someone did an analysis of his picks a few years after he "grades" them to see how they pan out. That being said edmunds and fullers need to start reproducing asap!
One thing that people never consider is that people like him literally create our baseline that we then judge against. So all of those obvious first rounders are only obvious because people like Kiper put them up there and the info gets passed around. They get it wrong a lot, but most draft days the first 3 rounds go mostly as expected with only minor surprises, and they largely created those expectations. We just end up judging them based on number of failures

True, but it'd be even better to have a first-round caliber LB stick around another year. I'm sure it's wishful thinking, but a boy can dream, can't he?
Heck, I'd take a couple of 6th/7th round WR/TE prospects sticking around.
Would be rough if we lose both Terrell and Tremaine in the same year...but that said...if Terrell leaves early and gets drafted high...DBU!
