French's Game Balls for ECU

Offense- hard to pick just one, but James Clark and Dalton Keene blocked their tails off.

Defense- Ricky Walker, Trevon Hill, and Andrew Motuapuaka were so good up front that it allowed Foster to change his coverage approach. Also, Sean Huelskamp and Khalil Ladler were really really good when they came in with the twos.

So many teasers here...

Dumb question - what does FAM mean?

short for "family." Think "It's lit, fam!!" and then lazily just get rid of anything leading up to the "fam" and you're good.

Agreed on Keene and Clark. Also seems like the OL had its act together as well.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

How'd that McMillion guy do...

I like that French's game balls go to the unsung heroes, the working class stiffs who block their asses off and fit gaps in the trenches. Well done sir.

"Don't go to, go through"

I feel like Clark is starting to emerge as our #2 receiver opposite Cam. Had a great long catch in the first quarter, and as you said, did a great job blocking. Looking forward to seeing him integrated more and more into the offense.

Nah, I feel like Savoy is our #2 WR.

Savoy has definitely been looking good as well, but he's primarily been working in the slot. Seems like the coaches are trying to get Clark out on the perimeter opposite Cam.

Yeaaaa Boogie is the #2 safe bet.

Hokie Love!

He needs to stop dropping passes. The team can get away with it when playing the likes of Deleware and ECew, but in the Clemson game, every catchable pass needs to be caught, if VT is going to have a chance to win.

Don't give up on your dreams.

That's true, but Savoy does tend to improve as the game progresses.

Hoping that he improves as the season progresses.

Can't be #2 and drop easy first downs

There's only been like one of those that I can remember. Am I forgetting others? Gotta expect freshmen to have some drops, lest we forget 2008. I'd say Danny and Jarrett turned into fine receivers pretty quickly.

VT Class of '12 (MSE), MVBone, Go Hokies!

Out of those guys who have only played in garbage time this year, who is the most likely to contribute in meaningful reps by the end of the year? For arguments sake, assume no injuries.

AJ bush looked way too good in garbage time to keep off the field moving forward into ACC play. We definitely need to utilize his athleticism. He demonstrated borderline breakaway speed on some of his runs.

Didn't see the game, but what you're saying is, everyone was chasing Bush?

So who would you take off the field to get Bush on the field?

And if it's not Jackson (which would be incredibly foolish for many reasons) who do you think it would fool to have 2 QBs on the field?

It's a good thing coaches actually think these notions through.

I would line him up as an outside receiver and have him run a go or a deep post. We need to get him on the field. He is a weapon.

I know I read, or heard in an audio clip somewhere, that the coaching staff was considering packages specifically for him since he as so athletic. Specifically calling out that he might be the most athletic player on the team.

It was nice to see Keene get a target and haul it in for 14.

Been one of the big surprises of the season that we haven't really targeted the h-back/tight end. When we have, it's been effective - the Cunningham catch vs WVU comes to mind - but considering how hard the Keene hype train was chugging, statistically he's been quiet. (It also bears noting that Bucky was a TE in name only last season (if we're trying to draw comparisons).)

DK has, however, been a blocking beast. A couple of rookie mistakes/whiffs, but for a true frosh to come in and be a great fit in that capacity has been as impressive as anything Savoy has done. And Boogie has done quite a bit.

(But the biggest impact freshman so far has to be Bradburn, right?)

the numbers don’t lie and they spell disaster

We saw the one target to Keene on 3rd down. Seemed like coach Corn pulled that play out out his book when we needed the 1st. That was his first catch of the season.

Perhaps waiting to unleash the fury against the Tigers?

Come on guys...Click and Fox!

Even when you get skunked; fishing never lets you down. 🎣

Fox's leap of excitement in the end zone, as it stands right now, is the play of the year in my mind...

if you could bottle up and combined the joy from Fox's touchdown leap and the joy of Frank rocking the black diamond trophy ....there would be no sadness.

Trevon Hill was a menace.

Amateur superstar and idiot extraordinaire.

That double cross-body block by DK was ugly but beautiful at the same time.

Hueselkamp (spelling?) has always and continued to look better than Motu.

Your opinion is wrong.

21st century QBs Undefeated vs UVA:
MV7, MV5, LT3, Grant Wells, Braxton Burmeister, Ryan Willis, Josh Jackson, Jerod Evans, Michael Brewer, Tyrod Taylor, Sean Glennon, and Grant Noel. That's right, UVA. You couldn't beat Grant Noel.

Made a real nice tackle there.

Disagreeing with this. Motu was laying some serious thumps out there.

Didn't see the game live, currently waiting for Hokietapes. I really hope Khalil Ladler did well and continue to improve. He had one of the most amazing offer lists among our recruits, so hopefully he lives up to that.

Yep. Congrats to him, by the way. That's a hell of an accomplishment - Graham was an all-timer...

(With that said, I'm fine with his opportunities being cut by about two-thirds.)
