K'Von Wallace Looking to Prove BudFu Wrong

The Virginia native had dreams of playing football at Virginia Tech, but he never received the offer he had always hoped to. When VT finally did offer him, he said "it was like a smack in the face". This is a statement game for him, and very personal, which is always a dangerous combination. It could go either way. While I love story lines like this, and would want him to perform well if it were any other game, but I'm hoping Cam and Savoy burn him over and over again.

It had to be a difficult few months of recruiting for Fuente with a lot of different pieces to juggle. Have to wonder if Wallace slipped through the cracks because of everything the program had going on, or if we missed out on someone that could have been a key contributor to DBU. Anybody have an evaluation on Wallace? He must be pretty good to be playing for one of the best defenses in the country.

Not sure what happened for this post to get created multiple times. My apologies, and obviously feel free to remove.

Odd, I feel like I have read this before

A thread so nice it must be shared thrice

"When I was growing up, Virginia Tech was a school that was kicking ass and taking names, and it's time we get back to that" - James Franklin

It was bound to happen eventually but now we have our spurned recruit story that falls somewhere between Jon Allen and Daniel Rodriguez.

Personally I find it fairly ridiculous to call an offer of a full athletic scholarship "a smack in the face." Also it sounds like a lot of teams offered him late and it doesn't make sense that he would expect VT to have to offer before Clemson to be considered if he truly thought that highly of VT. Guess all that makes for a better story though. Furthermore I just noticed that Torrian Gray was listed as his lead recruiter and he was a 2016 recruit. As you might recall, Gray initially stayed on the staff but officially left for Florida right after NSD so he likely was halfway out the door when all of this went down.

That being said, maybe Jordan McFadden will be similarly offended that Clemson didn't offer until late and we can read a similar article expressing his perspective in 3 years.

My wallet and I wish Virginia Tech had offered me a smack in the face

I tried to get this going last year but why are we using BudFu when FuBu is right there?

I have no idea why my username is VT_Warthog.

Arkansas blew a 24-0 lead in the Belk Bowl.

Have always wondered this as well

Just as long as it isn't FUBAR.

Speaking of which, FUBAR is doing a TV show on Vice. Cannot wait. Link here.

Would it be wrong to post DRINK! on both of your other threads?

I thought the same thing. Don't worry, I'll drink a few extra on Saturday, if that is okay.

I think I will too.

GO HOKIES

Really?

It's pronounced Kevin right?

It seems as if most of the Clemson players are out for Virginia Tech this week. I can't embed the tweet because work has Twitter blocked and I can't do it on my phone (Andy retweeted it so go there), but Clelin Ferrell allegedly just stated that he was cussed out by a VT coach when he said was picking Clemson. To believe or not believe? It's strange that two defensive players from their team have came out like this.

It makes sense because its #gameweek. One felt slighted which I can see if he felt he was good enough but alot of offers right before signing day leads me to believe he was a "best left" pick even for teams like OSU and Clemson. Ferrell probably did get cussed out because whatever coach probably put alot of time into recruiting him. He went to Clemson for the NFL pedigree (which I won't blame a kid for if that's his priority) and probably didn't hurt they have been a top 2 team the past 3 years.

Here ya go, full quote added from the Clemson beat writer: Here's Ferrell's full quote about the phone call with a VT coach. Zero hard feelings on Ferrell's end. Water under the bridge. pic.twitter.com/lYvQV8Wite— Grace Raynor (@gmraynor) September 26, 2017 " target="_blank">

He didn't punch him with his Glove on Stick thing, did he?

It was not from a current staff member.

In Sam Rogers we trust.

Im guessing (assuming) it was Shane Beamer. I remember the all the Hype little Beamer had coming to Tech after his recruiting success at USC. He was very underwhelming in both coaching and in his recruiting at Tech IMHO. I honestly missed Billy Hite when Shane was coaching the RB team.

It makes sense, he most likely was ingrained to despise Clemson at USC and when he came here and had a VA kid chose them over us...well you get it.

Pour some Beer on it

Context is everything. Appreciate it

Is it Saturday yet?

While recruiting stars aren't everything, I want to point out that the five players from the 2016 recruiting class who are currently in the defensive secondary were all ranked higher than Wallace and three of them either are or were in the 2 deep at his position this year (ratings are 247 and 247 composite):
Safetys
Deablo 86/0.8757 (WR)
Ladler 86/0.8727 (CB)
Floyd 90/0.8675 (ATH)

Cornerbacks
Jovonn Quillen 88/0.8570 (ATH)
Tyree Rodgers 85/0.8462 (CB)

Wallace for comparison was 80/0.8243 as a Safety
