Didn't the OSU fanbase basically run him out of town because of perceived criticisms of the Buckeyes? Now resides in Nashville, I believe. I'm not sure I've ever disagreed with anything he's said, he's as astute an observer of the game as I've seen.

Lol I was gonna say he does a great job all the time EXCEPT when talking about the Buckeyes. He does do a good job when calling games though, I mainly just notice when he's on ESPN talking rankings

You might be right. I haven't paid that much attention. But he did a great job when OU was mauling OSU in the second half a few weeks ago. I would've been so salty.

Herbie was great back in the day when he was always with Fowler or Corso, etc, but I've always thought he took a big step backwards when he started to team with Musburger.

See I disagree, I loved the commentary of Musburger. His "You are looking live at ________" line at the beginning of each telecast is/was a classic line that is so unique that pretty much made you feel you were in for a special event.

I don't have strong opinions about Kirk himself, but definitely disagree with his opinion on that one. Michigan had a crappier resume than we did but no one seemed to complain about them making it.

This would be an amazing and genius move. We know MV7 and MB12 are going to be in town so it seems like the staff is going all out to impress the visiting recruits.

Herbie, VT and ESPN grew up together with Thursday's national spotlight (well documented). Herbie used to stay at the Red Lion when in town and visit in the bar there. Good guy! Very good analyst! Great conversations!
Yesterday on ESPN Mike and Mike segment, Greenie completely ignored Tech and Clemson, only mentioning Blacksburg in the intro and the game on the segment exit....no other mention or analysis. Instead they talked about visitors locker rooms. After Herbie segment ended, Greenie wanting nicer digs and Golic giving him the business about sticking it to the visitors was enjoyable though.

Pretty good spot from Herbie. Its going to take everything the Hokies have, but I don't feel like Clemson is some unbeatable monster either, especially with a young QB that will be really playing his first road test. I get that he beat Louisville, but its not like he had to line up against Lamar Jackson and Louisville's defense is nothing special, nor is that environment.
The one thing I have no doubt of is that Lane is going to be insane this weekend. I think the fans have awoken from the stupor that came from a combination of so many years in a row of expecting to win 10 but always seeming to lose the biggest one, followed by 4 years of just unexciting football, to be honest.
That beast is WOKE in southwestern Virginia, and they are ready for this game.

Lane stadium will indeed be lit. I think every passionate Hokie fan will be in attendance, the best of the Best. With tickets nearing $200, you have to be passionate. I'll be in my seat by 7:15, and I encourage everyone to be there early as well.

It's just one if those places we were talking before we came on. Gameday, we came here in 1999 which was my 3rd year on the show. I mean we had 18,000 people inside lane stadium. It was a night game and they showed up in the morning. This was back when we'd get 2,000 people around our set and they had 18,000, I think, or 19,000 and really just changed the entire feel and vibe of Gameday. So Lee is of course excited to be here but again I think the whole show. Anytime we get a chance to come back here, it's one of our favorite places we ever go.
HokieNation made ESPN College Gameday what it is now. It took us to show up and everyone else tried to copy and follow suit! WE, HokieNation, INVENTED THE FUTURE for ESPN College Gameday!

I hope everyone in Blacksburg this weekend absolutely goes fucking nuts. We've got a reputation to keep up and need to remind the visiting team what a relentless rain of pain it is to play in Lane. If anyone has a voice after the game they should lose their Hokie card. 3rd downs need to be deafening . Let's reinstate ourselves as the envy of all rabid fan bases. Go Hokies!!!!

You might want to actually have a voice for the 4th. It's always bad luck when I lose my voice in the first half! Vocal warm ups it is washed down with some wild turkey!

In my opinion, Herbstreit is the best in the business.
People hate on him a lot but he does a great job. Especially when calling OSU games. Does a great job not showing his bias.
Didn't the OSU fanbase basically run him out of town because of perceived criticisms of the Buckeyes? Now resides in Nashville, I believe. I'm not sure I've ever disagreed with anything he's said, he's as astute an observer of the game as I've seen.
They did. It was pretty pathetic; they were bothering him and his family at home. The fanbase here didn't exactly acquit themselves very well.
Yes, he lives here in Brentwood, a suburb just south of Nashville.
Lol I was gonna say he does a great job all the time EXCEPT when talking about the Buckeyes. He does do a good job when calling games though, I mainly just notice when he's on ESPN talking rankings
You think so?
I think he tends to rank OSU higher than everyone else does, especially when it comes close to the playoffs/BCS time
You might be right.
Musburger was dragging him down. That guy was terrible. Him and Fowler together now are great.
Musberger is my hero, my fellow gambling degenerates would agree
As a degenerate gambler, I agree. Verne Lindquist is the worst. The man's been blind for the last decade, for crying out loud.
See I disagree, I loved the commentary of Musburger. His "You are looking live at ________" line at the beginning of each telecast is/was a classic line that is so unique that pretty much made you feel you were in for a special event.
I never minded Musburger either; actually thought they were a pretty good tandum.
He started doing that for people who bet so they would know what the weather was at that moment
Herbie is good, but a color guy I really have enjoyed this year is Joel Klatt doing Fox p12 games with Gus Johnson.
Klatt is really knowledgeable without sounding smug. Could be a rising star.
Can I interest you in some bigger hype?

I thought the official abbreviation was "7LoP"
Only rivaled by "12FoW"
I'm SevenLayersofPlayers and I approve this message.
In my head, I always abbreviate AssPocketFullOfWhiskey as AssPOW
Funny enough, I've done this myself.
Maybe in the spirit of Freddy Mercury we're subconsciously acknowledging the power ass has.
Fat bottomed commenters make the message board go round?
Indeed.
Something something... It's pronounced Kevin...
Hey SevenLayersofPlayers... how do you think we will do Saturday night?
Yeah, forget this Herbstreet guy, we need the good stuff
Link not working for me :(
Me too :(
I'm on my phone too
I've been of the opinion that Kirk doesn't hate us nearly as much as everyone let on after he questioned our Sugar Bowl bid in 2011.
I've been of the opinion that i rarely disagree with his opinions on VT foobaw. exceedingly fair.
I just dread the fact that he's probably going to be in the booth Sat night. The Hokies never win when he's there.
No probably, that has been announced for a week now.
More to do with us historically shitting the bed in big games than any curse.
I don't have strong opinions about Kirk himself, but definitely disagree with his opinion on that one. Michigan had a crappier resume than we did but no one seemed to complain about them making it.
Exactly. Definitely agree with this statement.
Anyone who didn't question the sugar bowl bid was being a homer. I loved us getting it, but we didn't get there on merit
Neither team really deserved to be there, even though I'm glad we were.

I can't wait for the Clemson FAM thread!
anyone heard the rumors that Steph Curry will be in the house
He must be walking on.
Ugh take your leg.
No! VT finally offered.
aren't you usually one to bring rumors to TKP.. hmmm
Just piecing some whispers and hints together plus Guerry's golden state gif today.
This would be an amazing and genius move. We know MV7 and MB12 are going to be in town so it seems like the staff is going all out to impress the visiting recruits.
Warriors have a game Saturday night at 8:30 in Oakland...
Wait NBA preseason has started?
Do stars actually play in the preseason?
I looked up last year's box scores to see and Steph did play a handful of minutes in at least the first few preseason games.

If you are waiting for analysis of college ball from Mike and Mike you will be waiting a LONG time.
That Mike and Mike segment was the "talk about every game but the one you're going to be at" segment.

He was back on this morning and talked specifically about the game.
Just found this on YouTube. Sorry if already posted.

Tsk, tsk, tsk... Get it right....
Now excuse me while I go throw up.
Nope.
Every time Laaser introduces himself I think of this
Awesome! Lasser is great and Herbie usually tells em like he sees em. I am going to explode:
Edit: M and M have nothing that I ever want to listen to. Both suck.
