OT-Celebrities on Campus

So apparently there are some celebrities on campus today. President Sands announced that Jimmy Kimmel was here. The trick shot guys on YouTube, Dude Perfect, are here also. 23 Million Subs. I'm sure there are more things going on around campus too. Just thought it was pretty cool.

Dude Perfect is awesome. What is Jimmy Kimmel doing there?

Trash talking Matt Daymuhnd?

When did Sands announce that Kimmel was here?

It was a catch!

You wanna come to a super soft birthday party?

I just saw it posted on 247 by someone who had been hyping up some celebrity being on campus this weekend. The thread was extensive and he said Dr. Sands dropped the news this afternoon. To be fair, I haven't seen anything on twitter or anything anywhere else other than 247 either.

I don't remember seeing anything on twitter either, but yeah Sands mentioned it during his State of the University speech today

Dude Perfect is shooting trick shots in Lane with Kirk. I grew up loving those guys so to say I'm ecstatic is an understatement.

I grew up loving those guys

You're making me feel old, Henry. Haha, but ya, those guys do some pretty awesome stuff. Bet they'll do a shot from the Media Crow's Nest at the top of the South EZ.

so dude perfect is a celebrity? lol?

brewcrew is on campus. much more of a celeb than dude perf lol.

(on a side not but semi relative topic... we still have an issue with ex players getting tickets while I understand if you are an ex player especially not one of the top tier caliber you cant just show up to the biggest games and be like hey where is my tickets but not to even be acknowledged as an ex player {a full time starter on bowl teams} I don't think it okay. I thought this was addressed last off season and they were going to do a better job of it but seems as if it has not happened yet)

I mean they have 23 million subs on YouTube. Internet celebrities are a thing.

You gotta see the other side though, how many former players are there? Who gets tickets to a game like this? Someone is going to get turned away.

Wet stuff on the red stuff.

a TON lol. I see both sides.

as far as DP I will say my son was super exited they were there. we waited at the back of gameday for when they left and as they were walking out my son asked one of them (hes 13 and knows them all by name lol) to take a picture with him. they replied we gotta catch a flight and kept walking. i guess they are celebs officially. my son kinda laughed it off and called them rude but i was pretty disappointed for him.

Barstool will be there. It will be Pat Mcafee and the Indy Crew and maybe Dave Portnoy. They will be a live Facebook tailgate show.

Can confirm, Pat McAfee with at least Shaun Latham from the Heartland Crew, Dave Portnoy and his team, and Julie Stewart-Binks. They're gonna be somewhere on Center st. I believe.

...That's what Maryland does.

I don't give a damn what the fans think cause, quite frankly, I know what the fans want better than they do.

Lots of former players will be around. I've seen confirmation of Corey Moore, Bruce Smith, Michael Vick, and Michael Brewer all planning on attending the game. Bruce is always there, but still worth mentioning.

"Exit light..."

I so want Corey Moore to do the Gameday picks. Imagine Corso reaching for 8-ball's headgear and Corey gives him his patented stare. Corso slowly puts down 8-ball and puts on the old school Hokie Bird headgear.

"Nope, launch him into the sun and fart on him on the way up"

"11-0, bro"
-Hunter Carpenter (probably)

Brewer made an appearance in Joe's Diner yesterday around 5pm.

Classy, love being hammered there

You forgot to mention Corey Fuller

Heard Kevin will be there.

We put the K in Kwality

And Mark from Winchester?

How about Jason from Arlington?

Mariann from Brooklyn?

"We were at the pinnacle, and we did it for years," Foster says. He pauses, nods, takes a deep breath. "And I did it with the best guy in the business."

Yes. Can confirm. #sauces

Tyrod did it Mikey, Tyrod did it!!

This is true, I'm tailgating in the airport rv lot

Just saw a student posted a photo at the GameDay setup with Jimmy Kimmel' s sidekick. Can't remember his name. Does JK still do the annual best Gameday sign contest?

Guillermo?

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

Yes thats the guy! Confused why he/they would be there other than the sign contest. If so I hope some peeps got creative!

Anyone know the connection to Kimmel? Is he doing an episode on campus?

Looking forward to the dude perfect VT show as well

probably just that the game is going to be on ABC.

For us olds, who is Dude Perfect?

Group of dudes that got famous doing trick shot videos on YouTube. Quality stuff

Does anybody happen to know where Barstool's tailgate show is at? You would think they would advertise their location more.

I had a few run-ins, or near run-ins with celebrities during the day.

I mentioned here about being near Tom Rinaldi in the GameDay crowd. I thought I had a good #sauce about next week's GameDay location, because it sounded like he said they were likely going to Oregon. But alas, that was proven to be incorrect.

Hokie Village was actually a good place for encounters.

First, I was standing in the Wendy's trailer waiting for my buddy to finish checking out the VR, when Bruce Smith just casually walked in. I didn't go over to him, because I was kind of shocked that he was just there, and didn't have a group of handlers around him.

The radio pregame show was broadcasting from the other side of the field. During the first break, Wes McElroy came over and spoke to those of us who had gathered around. He said that since we cared enough to hear what he had to say, he could at least say hello.

A few minutes later, Michael Brewer showed up, as he was due to be on the show as well, so we got to chat with him for a couple of minutes. He's confident that we would have gotten that second win against OSU if he had stayed in.

Bruce Smith is his own handler.

I do always find him by himself. At FedEx Field before the game he was wondering around the parking lots alone.

Am I the only one who had never of heard of Dude Perfect before gameday on Saturday?

No, you're not alone.

Isaiah Ford was there. Saw him in lot 2. Does he count as a celebrity?

I also saw him there, wandering, with no VT gear on. Nobody recognized him and nobody was talking to him which really bummed me out. I wanted to go up and at least say hi but the better half told me he probably wouldn't want to be bothered so we kept going. Biggest regret of the day.

My buddies who were there got a pic with him. They said he chatted with them for a few minutes, was super friendly. My one inebriated friend apparently challenged him to a foot race but he declined with the injury and all.

"That kid you're talking to right there, I think he played his nuts off! And you can quote me on that shit!" -Bud Foster

He was at the walk, everyone recognized him and were yelling his name. He allowed many pictures with the fans.

Both the DudePerfect and Jimmy Kimmel presence have to do with a CocaCola marketing campaign. One of my friends was interviewed by Guillermo and it was all centered on him drinking his Coke.

Jimmy Butler of the Bulls was at Tots Friday night.

We had recruits in town for basketball as well right? Buzz probably reached out to him and invited him to town.

That is what my basketball-obsessed friend was saying as well.

That's cool, but Jimmy Butler now plays for the timberwolves.

Thanks. My error shows how much I care about the Nibba.

What About Jake from Statefarm?

I can imagine no more rewarding a career. And any man who may be asked in this century what he did to make his life worthwhile, I think can respond with a good deal of pride and satisfaction:
“I served in the United States Navy"

Pain is Temporary, Chicks Dig Scars
Glory is Forever, Let's Go Hokies!!

Not sure he counts as a celebrity, but our group was walking near the Chapel when we walked past Dave Brat and his family. He said hello and looked at us like we should recognize him. Funny thing is that I live in Massachusetts, but know who he is along with one other in our group from Richmond. Dave Brat used to teach at Randy Mac in Ashland, so I'm not sure what connection he has to VT. This is the guy who beat Eric Cantor in his primary to knock out the then House Majority leader. Seems like a lot of my celebrity sightings are limited to obscure politicians and documentarians. Sad!! Then there was that business meeting in Chicago when I was staying at the official NBA All Star Game hotel, and walked in just behind Larry Bird and Bill Russell....
