Justin Fuente's staff was entertaining upwards of 100 recruits, but at lunchtime, Ford was the only one asked to accompany running backs coach Zohn Burden upstairs.
While Ford is adept at turning the corner, he had no idea what—or whom—would be awaiting him in the corridor of Virginia Tech's Lane Stadium.
"Michael Vick is walking toward me," Ford said. "I couldn't believe it, I truly couldn't believe it."
"They've made it very clear—and they've made no bones about it—he is their target for the 2019 class," Mangano said of the Hokies' interest. "He's their No. 1 guy."

Biggest competition right now is UNC. I think we lead at the moment, but as with any player of this caliber, there's always a worry of the big boys getting more involved.

What on earth do kids see in UNC football?
When I was there, their football facilities were pretty awesome. Now that was over 10 years ago and we have improved ours drastically in that time.
I was certainly impressed by their fields drainage system. Especially after watching the NCState-Notre Dame slip and slide party right before our game last year.
Hmm another Ford? Yes please! We must angle our recruiting focus on a running back of this caliber, as he could be a game changer in our backfield if we can edge out other schools...

Ford is definitely a stud and would be a huge get. I am also keeping my eye on Jordan Houston. He's not as highly rated but has some pretty impressive film. At this point it seems like it's between us and PSU, but having a backfield with Ford and Houston would be a pretty big upgrade from where we are/have been since Wilson.
With all of the media hype PSU's current RB is getting, it can't be doing us any favors. However, the fact that Ricky Slade is currently committed to PSU, could help us a bit. PSU can't get all of the RBs, can they?

Zaquandre White is another blue chip rb that had already committed over a year before Laborn. He had time to decommit once they were still pushing for Akers if he wanted to.

I love this, seriously lets get more involvement with current and former NFL players. Those 4 and 5 star guys are completely focused on making it to the show one day so we need to show them what VT can do for them.
