College Gameday for VT @ Miami game?

Just to preface this, I am writing this topic is all for fun.

I think this could be a real possibility. Currently it would be #15 VT and #11 Miami. Both team SHOULD win their next 2 games (UNC/Duke and Syracuse/@UNC respectively) putting VT at 7-1 on the fringe of the top 10 ranking and Miami at 7-0 ranked inside of top 10.

The only other games I can see them choosing over our matchup is either the #3 PSU vs. #21 MSU game or #12 Oklahoma vs. #14 Okie St, assuming all 4 teams win out until such matchup. Rankings of course are subject to change with this week plus next two weeks of games to be finished/played.

Not saying it's heavily in our favor, but definitely something that could come to fruition.

Does this mean what I think it means?

Given your hypothetical scenario, Bedlam would definitely get Gameday.

I feel like there will be more chaos between now and then though

They'll go to Oklahoma - Oklahoma St, they know Miami will never give them the crowd they want.

Miami doesn't have the crowd... there are not enough student there.

I agree that if things go as expected (which they likely won't), Gameday goes to Bedlam.

As it should. Bedlam is a really cool rivalry, ours is just another game

Rip his freaking head off!

I don't know about that, our rivalry has a lot of history too. But I agree with the sentiment that crowd size matters.

How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Jet Sweep

Our "rivalry" hasn't been nationally relevant in 15 years. It's only a rivalry because we were both good at the same time, beyond that there isn't much hatred there. We're at best each other's 3rd biggest rival, and that's being generous

Hmm, I actually hold them as our top right now. They are literally the exact opposite in mentality, and the Miami games have been nasty from way back in the Big East days.

I hate the U much more than I hate UVA.

I'm biased for VT/da U and I know that Bedlam is the more attractive Gameday location.

Doubt it, Miami has horrible game attendance.

I'd even argue uva football pulls a better crowd than da u does

Directions from Blacksburg to whoville, go north till you smell it then go east until you step in it

Not so sure about that. I was at the UVA-Duke game last week and the stadium was half full (38,000 attendance). Miami had 55,000 today. The student section actually looked good.

Is hard rock stadium bigger than it looks on TV? Today it looked empty but maybe that's due to the way it looks on TV? Never been there but I've never seen the hard rock sold out even for nfl games

Capacity 65,326. Smaller than Lane Stadium.

Miami's recorded attendance has been little better than a flat out lie for several years now. They were supposedly averaging 55,000+ at the old Sun Life stadium, but I swear they had less than 30 for a lot of those games, and that's an upper estimate

Yeah, that was the announced attendance. Definitely didn't look 80% full.

It did get pretty loud at times, but I imagine that stadium design, with the partial roof over the fans, has something to do with that.

Where would they set up for Game Day at Miami? On campus or at Hard Rock Stadium? The logistics of not playing your games on your own campus have to be infuriating.

I would think they would set up on campus. Unless it's a noon game, the distance to the stadium shouldn't be a factor.

On a boat of course.

I'm sorry, I misread your post as College GameDay at Miami. Who'd believe that?

Ok/OkSt might end up on FOX, no? I think PSU and MichSt will both win until then, so I think it'll end up in East Lansing. Nice to think we might see it twice in a season though

WVU/TCU was on Fox. Still got GameDay.

Truth! I think I've seen it on an SEC CBS game before, too. And this week was at JMU vs NOVA so maybe it wouldn't really matter...

Yeah and that game was covered by a High School AV club.

I love a good nap. Sometimes that's all that's getting me out of bed in the morning.

Gameday does 3 or 4 SEC on CBS games a year. The network thing really doesn't matter.

If Miami has to go to Syracuse then there is no deal they won't lose. Miami has been playing with fire with all these late game wins, sooner or later it will bite them in the butt.

Hopefully November 4th

They should set up in Blacksburg for it!

We put the K in Kwality

Seems like a good idea. Yeah their attendance isn't that great.
But two possibly top 10 teams, and the U getting better, it could
be a good one.

Both team SHOULD win their next 2 games (UNC/Duke and Syracuse/@UNC respectively)

Boy, it just gets worse and worse for North Carolina.

Clemson/NC State is that day as well

I think we're 3rd in line for this but it's definitely a possibility if the other teams lose and both us and Miami keep winning. They could set up on campus by the pond or they could set up on South Beach. An undefeated U in Miami facing a resurgent VT is a great ESPN draw.

Outside it's night time, but inside it's LeDay

I could totally see them setting up on South Beach, and honestly, I think that would be a pretty cool location.

As others have said though, I think that on the current trajectory I'd be shocked if it doesn't end up at Bedlam that week. But hey, sometimes things go awry, and that's one of the reasons that GameDay ended up at JMU this past weekend.

FWIW... my wife & I were in Harrisonburg this weekend, and spoke to one of our family friends who is high up in dining services at JMU. He helped serve breakfast to the GameDay crew and got to see the operation up close. He was telling us that one thing the crew was discussing was that Clemson was their #1 choice in 2 weeks against GT, but their Friday night loss removed them from consideration (this was also before GT lost to Miami as well).

Just goes to show that wins, losses & perception matter. If Miami is undefeated & VT is sitting at 7-1 (with it's lone loss coming to a full-strength Clemson), it's definitely going to be in the conversation. If OU or OSU combine to take a couple more Ls, Bedlam could look less enticing to ESPN.

Hey, this is completely random, but former Fins backup and Tech QB Don Strock was HC of a team called the Miami Hooters??

That's the same week as LSU-Bama. Gameday hasn't gone to Bama yet and they've gone to that game a bunch recently.
