UNC is a 21 pt underdog at Virginia Tech. Heels haven't been this big of an underdog since 2006 @ Notre Dameβ Josh Goodson (@joshwgoodson) October 15, 2017
Given one-hundred fake internet dollars, how do you bet it?

On a different game
That seems.... high. I know UNC is bad but damn. Wasn't the ODU game 23.5?
edit: lololololol never mind.
It's going to rain, isn't it
76 and sunny! UNC will have no excuse.
I bet on UNC to cover. It's a win win. Either we beat the living shit out of them, and I get non-monetary satisfaction, or they play closer than that spread expects, and I have extra money for celebratory mojitos at Boudreaux's (fuck you, they're delicious).
Mojitos? Shame it isn't a Tuesday night game, you could get into the bar without a cover...
Never even knew they had them but thank you for mentioning! I am always up for trying too many new, delicious, alcoholic beverages in Blackoutsburg
They do, and they do a damn good job. Just be sure to specify you want it made with Gosling's. Black rum makes for a far better drink than white rum.
Where do you bet?
half - priced hurricane tuesdays. Go with that perfect storm if you wanna get shitty. Yes this was a meteorology tradition
This has led to more Wednesday morning headaches than I'd care to admit
I know UNCheat sucks, but I certainly wouldn't even wanna put fake dollars on this one. Four scores is a lot to win by. I just don't see that killer instinct from our guys.....I think we win pretty easily, just not a blowout. Hopefully I'm wrong.
There's no reason we can't hit this easy. That said, I wouldn't touch this at all. I thought we had BC no problem and we still couldn't win against the spread.
Given pretend money I guess UNC+21 and hope that Fuente treats it like a scrimmage and is happy winning by 20.
Given what bc did to Louisville, I'm happy we got a win against em.
BC is better than their record. They held Clemson to 7 going into the fourth when Clemson had everybody healthy.
Make no mistake about it, if their is one opponent Fuente would happily run the score up on, it's UNCheat. He and the staff, like all of us were hoping the NCAA came down hard on them (#sauces.)
That obviously didn't happen, so you can't help think he would enjoy nothing less than a colossal beatdown on the boys from Cheater Hill this weekend. I know I sure would.
Blowing them out could do anything but help recruiting in NC, too.
Wait, so recruits don't want us to destroy UNC by 50? I know they usually don't care as much about the outcome and early playing time could be a major draw, but c'mon. Would you want to be on a team competing for a spot in the championship or a team that's eliminated by mid season and struggles to get into a bowl?
I realize we were that team for a bit too, but that is not the direction we're trending long-term.
I think he (assuming gender) meant that us blowing UNC out would hurt UNC's in-state efforts, not our efforts to recruit North Carolina.
probably what he meant, but it's not what he said
Discourse recovery was necessary, I'll admit.
In the last four games, unc has scored 17 vs Duke, 7 vs GT, 10 vs ND and 14 vs uva. That's 12 point avg. 3 of those games were at home.
If they get 12, we need to get 33.
UNC has given up 35 to Cal, 47 to Lville, 23 to ODU, 27 to Duke, 33 to GT, 33 to ND and 20 to UVA. That's 31 points. Amazingly, unc is 1-6 with 5 of 7 games being played at home.
Our coaches apparently hate UNC. 35 seems like a very conservative number.
VT 44- UNC 13.
I'm guessing that you believe the "amazing" part of those numbers is the "1", in 1-6.
lol yes and more amazingly when you put it next to the #s UNC avg 12 points a game and giving up 31 it is pretty shocking!

When you break the numbers down like that the Vegas calculation makes sense. It kind of seems like less of an endorsement of the Hokies and more a statement of how bad UNC is.
What is this about our coaches hating UNC? I hate UNC, so I would love to know/understand our coaches' feelings towards UNC.
Yeah, I feel that Fuente is one of the last people to actually hate a specific team. This is definitely interesting to hear about.
Even the most even-keeled people would probably hate when a direct competitor gets away with blatant cheating. The #NC2VT campaign was/is a not-so-subtle shot at the cheating bastards
Fuente is one hard card to read. I've always wondered what's really going on in his head. I bet he listens to Huey Lewis and the News on his way to Merryman in the mornings.
To borrow an old English soccer chant: always cheating...same old tarheels
I was low. And high.
I would take UNC and the points. Our slow starts plus garbage time doesn't spell a win more than 21 points to me
Don't care how bad they're playing, I wouldn't bet on us to cover a 21 point spread against anyone in the Coastal except maybe occasionally UVA, and not even them this year.
This. Exactly this.
We are in the thick of the schedule and cannot take anyone lightly. UNCheat to loluva, throw the spreads out.
Vegas knows something.... What is Fuente/ Bud's history after a bye? What is UNC's record after losing to LOLUVA? What is Fedora's record after he is told "now that we don't have to worry about sanctions we can get e real coach."? Is it gonna sprinkle? Did a UNCheat player say something about momma Edmonds? No clue what Vegas knows, but the inside money is on the cover. I'm in for a fifth of Wild Turkey 101.
To everyone outside the state of North Carolina, the answer is 1-0.
To UNCheat, it doesn't matter, it was a hurricane.
I imagine they have some sort of "naive" model that they use for their opening line, but it's mostly driven by betting numbers. What I'm saying is, I'm pretty sure they don't use factors like what you're describing.
As a degenerate gambler, I assure you they've assigned some sort of metric for those kinds of factors, at least for their starting lines.
Tech is going to win by 72
...1872?
Correct. Final score:
UNCheat 18 - 72 Hokies
18 points would mean they score 6 times. That ain't happening
78-6? 10 TDs, 2 FGs and a Safety
The last time I bet, I lost $0.25 at the Cheers Slot Machine at the Bellagio, so I don't bet anymore. But, since we're talking Monopoly money, I'd put it all on the good guys to cover. Think we could actually win this one big in my completely biased opinion.
Random. My wife and I lost $5 at the Bellagio 3 mths ago playing slots, and we were done.
The Uber guy told us that his prior ride had lost $13,000 (?!) for the weekend.
Sick.
If I am gambling, I go in with my forty bucks when it is gone, it is gone. If I win, I put the new money/chips in my pocket and continue to gamble with my forty. The chips only come out of the pocket when I am cashing out.
Some days I lose it all, some days I win.
Last time we went to Vegas I said I would not gamble. Then I found a twenty floating in the swimming pool, decided it was my lucky day, and hit the games. After losing half the found money I cashed out the other $10 and spent it on drinks at the pool.
FTFY
Fixed it.
We bought a bucket of 5 Corona's down at the Bellagio pool for $45. Worse than a beer at a Yankee's game.
EDIT: The price was worse.
On UNC tuition?
i dont care for the lines
Beware the bye week hangover.
Just to be clear, you're giving these fake internet dollars to normal students as well as the athletes right?
Oh my... your comment game is strong today.
Certified Leonard Approved.
Oh my god I just remembered GameDay is comin' to my citay this weekend. I need to make a sign and take a shot at UNC. What should the sign say?
THIS SIGN IS A 3 CREDIT COURSE AT UNC
I had ideas. Then I read this. Leg. We have a winner.
This one is good but I really want to incorporate the non-athletes line
UNC football sucks because they have to let non athletes on the team?
Add "I'M NOT AN ATHLETE AND" to the beginning of it.
This sign got me an A at UNC
(It's OK I'm not an athlete)
edit: OR (It's OK I'm a law student)
Go for the medical school line, more shocking.
Use Medicle or something, to drive it home.
Yeah I had medical school at first and edited it to law school. My thinking was they teach their lawyers to cheat, but maybe medical school is more eye-catching.
This sign kept me akademically illegible at UNC
"But it's not inappropriate, it's for everybody"
Harvey Weinstein, is that you?
CAN I GET SACS AND NCAA TO PUNISH ME FOR MY WEED POSSESSION CHARGE?
SACS and NCAA refuse to punish UNC so I guess we'll just have to. Love, Every Other FBS team
38-0 bro...take the hokies...Fuente has proven he excels as a home favorite ATS
Based on pure history I get leery when we get heavily favored. While I believe and expect us to defeat them (and by ample amount), we ain't Bama or Clemson yet (we're apparently Clemson of '11).
I bet Tech wins and beats the spread. UNC is pretty horrible. They had 46 passing yards against UVA. Combined their QBs have 7 TDs and 9 INTs. I know we lost Deablo and Floyd isn't great against the pass but does he have to be? This could be shutout territory.
I put it all on the Hokies to cover.
I hope we finish as 21-point winners!
It's 21.5 now so that wouldn't cover. That's a huge win.
We'd need that elusive half point safety.
Doesn't Joey .5 point for a touchback?
Give me 20 to cover, 20 for a defensive TD, 20 for a special teams TD, 20 for VT to be +3 in Turnover margin, and 20 on 3+ Passing TDs by JJ
Enjoy your new yacht!
Haha wow. Hope you placed that one. I think you can retire!
Wow. I'm thoroughly impressed. That's one hell of a prediction! Well done. Well done, indeed.
You should frame this and show it to your grandkids one day. This prediction is crazy.
Clemson was a 23 point favorite at the Oranges, just saying...
A lot of sites suspended betting when the extent of Bryant's injury from the wake game really came to light. A healthy Bryant doesn't get caught and pummeled causing his concussion and removal from the game. With a healthy Bryant, I have no problem with -23 on that game.
And if I had bet against that spread, I would be having words with the betting site. Not sure how legal that is.
It's pretty common practice. Suspending betting doesn't mean they wipe the bets that have already been made, they just won't take any new bets on that line until more information is known.
When Sam Bradford went down for Minnesota, and Vegas didn't know if it was him or Keenum starting, they wouldn't even open betting on Vikings games until the actual starting QB was known.
Tells you how often I wager money on sporting games.
I specifically logged on to bet on Syracuse because I thought -23 was ridiculous with an injured Bryant, but then betting was on hold. Sadly, I didn't go back and put money on the adjusted line (or just winning outright).
Always bet on the home dogs
Looks like we have a visitor this weekend to witness us schooling UNCheat
EDIT: creds to 4VPISU on posting this in the Q thread hours ago http://www.thekeyplay.com/comment/600916#comment-600916
#NC2VT suggests Fuente will not treat it as a scrimmage and merely rely on the defense to keep the other team off the board like BC. Coming off a bye, offense comes through big. I would put fake money on the cover, but not touch this game with real money.
I have news for y'all, if you would put fake money on it but not real money, that doesn't mean anything different than just not putting money on it hahah.
It means I get a bit of a laugh coming into these threads since that seems to be the go to phrase for everyone lol.
You can have a pick (for or against) and still not be confident enough in it the pick to actually gamble on it.
Perhaps you would prefer something like this: "I wouldn't put my own earnings on this game, but with house money I would take...
(same concept, now real money)
LOL moment of the week: WVU is only a 10 point favorite over 0-6 Baylor.
That's weird
Hokies still owe them for the smuggery that occurred at Frank's last home game. I wouldn't take the Tar Heels and 40 points. If Cam and Peoples are good to go, the Hokies are going to crack 60 this weekend.
Fuente said today People's ankle is still bugging him.
Ok. Just means more StarFox.
He actually said, and you may want to sit down for this.
I'm not sure which Fuente they brought out for this presser but it was weird hearing him say that.
He must have the dreaded high ankle sprain. He has been in a boot since ODU.
No, I know. I get this. I meant since Peoples is out, after Dragon, Mclease & Fox should get more action.
You mean Impact Player starfox.
We gonna beat dat azz
KJ Henry and QP2 are going to be there. #NC2VT will be there. And UNC just lost to Hooville.
I just placed 4905 out of 182,971 in DraftKings this weekend and won $1.
That said, I'm confident with being all in with $100 on the Hokies covering. I think we'll see plenty of this...
Wow at first glance I thought Jerod was JJ. Those guys could pass as brothers.
I think we'll cover. At home, against a laughable UNCheat... What's the over/under on turnovers the LPD forces? Harris threw 3 picks to LOLUVA....
He threw some really bad passes. If that is the best they have for QB than they will suck for awhile.
He really did... LPD ought to be smellin some blood in the water.
I wonder if Larry will complain that the afternoon sun was in his eyes and he couldn't coach correctly so the game shouldn't count....
To be fair, it was mostly Tar Heel fans and bloggers who complained about the weather in last year's game. Fedora has actually been taking the Tar Heels misfortunes this year rather well. They've got like 16 guys injured, and half of them are starters. There were a couple of game-turning bad, bad calls on Saturday, and the press was baiting him hard to bag on the refs, and he flat out refused.
Just saying... although, I still think he's pretty douchy, and I want to see the Hokies scorch the earth on Saturday.
Yeah, but Fedora refused to get his team ready for the weather conditions last year. Our guys were practicing with wet balls (yes, I know, phrasing), but UNC just went along with business as usual.
UNCheat deserves that....I mean they deserve a truck load of sanctions, but bad calls will have to suffice... And yes, I realize the fans and bloggers were the majority of it, but I don't know their names. Larry is just the easy target there.
He is pretty douchy, isn't he?
UNC actually has a bit of a QB controversy. Chazz Surratt is supposed to be the QB of the future for the Heels. However, last week Fedora named Brandon Harris the starter for UVa (he of 46 yds passing fame) because, according to Fedora, "he earned it" in practice.
Surratt, the guy that didn't play against UVa is probably the guy the Hokies need to worry about. While he's not shredding defenses with his arm, the kid can scoot and he's got some sweet dance moves. We all know what happens to Bud Foster with dancing scooter qbs.
In the midst of the misery that is losing to UVa at your very own house, the Tar Heels did have a shiny spot. Their oline run blocked very well in the second half and they got a breakout performance from true frosh Michael Carter. He had like 10 carries for 150 yards.
All kidding aside, the Tar Heels could be a dangerous team on Saturday. At 1-5, they aren't going to play scared, and they're going to be up for the game... a chance to get one from a presumed Coastal front runner at their house. I'd be on the lookout for whacked out trick plays, and wide sets to get Surratt loose up the middle. Also, please no all orange uniform, please no all orange uniform, PLEASE! NO ALL ORANGE UNIFORM!!!!!
Me, I wouldn't be concerned about Surratt just because he can run (every single QB we've faced to this point this year can run). I would instead be concerned about Surratt because he can run AND pass.
On the other hand, Brandon Harris can't pass for crap. Nothing special happened on the move from Baton Rouge to Chapel Hill.
I would like to be beat them so soundly that all of their recruits seriously question why they committed. I want such a bad loss that even the fake classes couldn't convince them to go there.
Do they have any commits we can poach?
Can? I have no idea, but they have a 4 star OL (according to ESPN) that I'd like to steal.
I want to beat them so badly that the TV crew cuts to crying UNC kids. I want the UNC mom's screaming about how badly we are doing their kids. And of course I want....
Krom agrees.........beat them like vanquished enemies (or cavaliers)!
Well, we were also favored by 20+ points vs Syracuse last year.
Don't remind me. I made the 4 hour trip to Syracuse. I am also coming to this game. Maybe I should rethink my 4 hour trip to Blacksburg this weekend.
This time a 4 hour trip puts you in Blacksburg, not Syracuse.
I hope we open the first quarter with 21 points and keep adding on that each quarter......and pitch the shutout on the cheaters.
UNC is ECU bad. We cover.
thats bad...
Moto in the middle , be a tough bet. A wheelchair run play could get by him. I hope VT hangs a 50 on them !
You know nothing, Jack Crow
Have you not watched VT football since 2015?
Even if he was bad, this is like saying "our linebacker sucks, no way we beat them by 21" like wtf logic is that
Is this the same guy that Trump Tweeted at Motuopuaka in the Tackling Issues thread?
It actually is the same guy. Tell me this comment doesn't read like a Trump Tweet
I disagree with your opinion on Moto, and your logic on how that would affect the bet, but did not down vote for that. I was offended on the way you worded it, and question the need for it. Its sounds like you are taking shot at VT player rather than expressing an opinion about his play.
Of course a wheelchair run play would be successful. What kind of a dick tackles a kid in a wheelchair?
I shouldn't be laughing at this but gosh darn it...
He stands over him like he is an FSU QB he just sacked.
There is some great TKP in these last few posts. Biggest laugh I've had in a bit. Well done.
Lol, oh man
That guy didn't even try to slow down the player's momentum! He just rolled over.
Looking at your recent posts, you seem to have a real axe to grind with Motu. Did he steal your girlfriend or something?
Unrelated, but Bama opened as a 34.5 point favorite against Tennessee. I know UT sucks, but they're still 3-3, the gap between Bama and everyone else is absurd
I think Bama is bad for college football. There need to be some fresh teams in the playoff for the health of the sport. Otherwise it'll grow stagnant and eventually that cash cow will dry up
I agree with you. I like Saban as a coach (because I'm kind of an asshole to certain people like he is to reporters, honestly), and there's no doubt he's doing an incredible job, but I think the CFP is always going to have the expansion argument if it's going to have one team that's in it every year, and while some arguments are well put together, I think 4 is where it needs to stay unless they want to widdle down on the number of bowls altogether. Which will never happen because of the
participation trophy society we live inalmighty dollar...It gets to be where it's almost an "oh we play Bama this week, I don't have to watch because we'll lose anyways". Clemson (it really hurts to say this) beating them last year was at least a step in the right direction for the sport (oh the burn, it hurts). It will happen eventually that Bama is dethroned, but then someone will take their place. E$PN would probably love for it to be OSU or another B1G team.
YMMV. Just my 2cents.
I really believe we need to have a 8 team playoff. The five main conference champions, one spot reserved for the best group of five, and two open spots. I also think in the current format that ND should not be eligible unless undefeated.
I'm absolutely down for an 8 team playoff. If and only if they do not add bowl games. Just repurpose existing ones for "quarterfinal games.
Has there been an injury report for this weekend yet? I saw that Peoples is still most likely out, but any word on Cam, CJ, Hill? (It was Hill that got injured against BC, right?)
Everyone else as of yesterday is day to day.
There probably won't be until Thursday I believe.
Hope everyone bet the spread.
LOLUNC
21 seems low...
I'm seeing Miami is a 20.5 favorite over UNC...so tempting but I know the canes will let me down when it matters most.
VT's blowout of UNC has placed the Tar-Nos in this week's bottom 10. This is the win that keeps on giving the whole year through.
