We really need to step our game up...I am on verge of not allowing my children to wear striped shirts thats how frustrated I am with Nike's lack of love for VT. These AF Jerseys are pretty sweet and btw da U is baaaaaak with black out jerseys that are not too shabby.

Looks like stripes are bak?
You're not beating anything. I really want to see a total overhaul next season because you're right, we need a refresh badly. Part of me hopes we find a way out of that shotty Nike deal and into a deal with Adidas or Under Armor. I love Nike but they have done us no favors.
Adidas uniforms suck.
They used to be terrible. But their newer stuff is pretty sharp. A hell of a lot better than the SEC knockoff shite we wear now.

I'm not even talking about the design, I'm talking about the quality, and the first three pictures in your link illustrate my point.
The numbers look like cheap silkscreening. I can usually tell what teams are wearing Adidas by seeing how the numbers are all clumping up on themselves.
But I guess that's what happens when they're funneling all their money into their criminal empire.
Amen. that quilted sh!t (see ecu) is garbage.
Under Armour is shite.
Plus, who wants to support Maryland football? Kevin Plank wants to use your money for bad.
Yuk.
Nah, screw Adidas. UA I'm ok with.
gross
Nike, Adidas, and Under Armor are all junk...Russell Athletic is where it's at! Battle of the Techs needs to be Russell Athletic exclusively on the field! haha ok so I'm not really serious =)
LOL. HELL TO THE N-O to RA. Their stuff is hot garbage.
Well then you'll be glad to hear that Russell Athletic is discontinuing its line of uniforms after the GT deal ends this school year.
I dunno. That RA/Nike hybrid jersey Glennon had that one time was on point. Undefeated in that one.
Boobie Miles ain't never knocked nobody out wearing Adidas or Under Armour!!!
Adidas? You like tire tread? Because this is how you get tire treads.
Ok I want nothing to do with University of Maryland, so UA automatically sucks. Adidas? Maybe if we were playing European football? I'd hope we do not get anyone other than Nike to sponsor.
We'd be in some GREAT company in the ACC with Adidas. Plus, I know it's a Louisville and other school issue, but why would anyone want to associate with Adidas after the CBB scandal? I'd think they're at risk of losing other schools at this point.
Generally you buy when stocks are low. If Adidas starts hurting, it may be the best time to strike a deal.
I wonder if Adidas would have any suggestions for how to step up our recruiting while we're at it?
I got a idea for a new uniform we go with the bumblebee look of the Pittsburgh Steelers and replace it with maroon and orange. That would be a good look /s
Negative Ghost Rider. The pattern is full.
I've been against the shoulder stripes since Day 1, but what frustrates me almost equally is the ridiculously oversized collar. It looks like an ascot and we're not ascot wearing, cookie dough eating weenies.
The problem with Air Force's F-35 unis is that they're unbelievably overbudget, the research and development is years behind schedule, and they're far less capable in the air than most other platforms.
Leg because nobody understood getting in front of the uni like Eddie. All dyed leather represent!
Heck with Nike, Adidas, AND Under Armor, there's clearly a front runner who should get our new uni contract.
BIG BALLER BRAND.
Because we don't need to do it like anyone else does it. We could blindfold all of our players and beat Alabama by 60. If we start wearing BBB they may as well just GIVE us the trophy.
/s
I can't think of a single thing to say about LaVar Ball that wouldn't (appropriately) get me downvoted into bolivian.
Or you'd have death by turkey leg.
What's wrong with La Paz?
I don't see why we need anything other than solid maroon jerseys and pants and solid white jerseys and pants.
Your argument failed at All White.
All white and Orange as Primary should NEVER happen. EVER.
Ok but I really like all white
This.
Gonna be honest, I don't like any of these. The numbers on the shoulders look ironed on.
Always hated this jersey. I can't stand jerseys with differing color numbers (of which VT has been one of the few...probably for good reason).
But that's a simple enough change...
I love the squadron patches on the Air Force helmets, that's pretty dope.
The Air Force is an Alternate, as is the U "Miami Nights" jersey. However the U going back to their 80s style uniforms is a huge upgrade compared to where they were at even just a few years ago. As for us something needs to change. Very few teams can pull off shoulder stripes LSU, UCLA, even Duke, but not us (although probably due more to poor uni combos). I guess my question is where do we go moving forward (personally nike is the only brand I want)? Why do people want the late 90s early 2000s plain uniforms?
Because we were at our peak at the time we were wearing those. People are reminded of those good old days every time they see the uniforms.
So is it just a nostalgia thing then? I'm to young to have an appreciation for this era so I guess I was curious why these uniforms.
It's not just nostalgia, although we DID establish our national identity in the late 90s. But more than that, I like a clean, classic look. Our current unis have a big, weird looking collar (h/t to Ernest P. Worrellford above) along with those hideous stripes on the shoulders, pants, and helmet that remind me of the Houston Astros. And don't even get me started on the various helmet atrocities over the last 5-7 years.
Oh, and then there's orange. Orange should never be a primary color; no orange pants, jerseys, or helmets. You want to outline jersey numbers or the VT on the helmet in orange? Fine. Use orange vertical piping on the jersey? Maybe. Make the bottoms of the shoes a shiny, metallic orange than can be seen from the moon? All for it. But orange effect? Just say no. In fact, I don't think we need "effect" games at all. Every home game should be #ALLMAROONEVERYTHING.
Obviously, nobody agrees on uniforms. It would be cool to see a poll, with a representative sample of all hokie fans, to determine which uniforms have the highest approval rating.
I personally am a fan of matching jersey and pants colors. I therefore would like a uniform that uses maroon and orange accenting in tops and bottoms, orange accent at home maroon with away whites. If we ever go orange as a primary color, it should only make up 60 percent max of the total uniform.
Whatever we choose I want us to standardize on and stop changing. You can't have iconic uniforms and switch it up all the time. I'd rather be seen as a football institution like Alabama and Penn State than a gimmick or flash in the pan like Oregon. I want to wear the same helmet, jerseys, and pants game after game. My vote is all maroon homes and all white with shoulder stripes away with orange as an accent to both. Done.
The Pro Combat All White were next level
I'm in the small minority that liked those more than the black Pro Combat's vs. Boise.
Once again the colorblind section of Hokie Nation asks...what does orange and maroon look like anyway?!
DaU didn't wear those black-out unis against GT as previously announced because, surprise, someone realized that all black unis for a 3:30pm game in Miami isn't the best idea. I believe that was originally supposed to be a Thursday night game, but got rescheduled due to, ironically, a hurricane. I would assume that they set them aside for another night game, because they aren't wearing them at 12pm or 3:30pm.
Perhaps they will break them out against the Hokies, fittingly wearing black to their own funeral.
That was beautiful.
