ESPN article on one of our favorite Hokies. I hope he can see more success, but Bills fans are very torn over whether or not he is their best option. What do y'all think?

That Bills fans are dumb.
Hey, we may not be the smartest, but we aren't Browns' fans.....
I love Tyrod. When the ownership had all but thrown away our season in like week 2, Tyrod has pretty much put the team on his back and hasn't given up. The man has won games for us damn near by himself. He's the guy I want the Bills to build around for the next 4/5 years (just hope he survives that long)
I used to live in Cleveland. Browns fans aren't any dumber than other fans. Manic-depressive assholes with an inferiority complex, maybe, but not dumb. Browns ownership and management on the other hand...
I'll give you that one.
Maybe the Bills should concentrate on getting a Defense, or an offensive line, or a good coach, or not trading away every weapon they get, or....
Someone hasn't paid attention to the NFL this year.
Don't the Bills have one of the best D's in the NFL? I just used them as a streaming option last week in my fantasy league against the Raiders (flying east for an early game). The problem is that they keep getting rid or letting go of all of his weapons. Clay and Shady are the only real playmakers they have on O and it's going to take a minute for Benjamin to pick up the offense other than a Go route (and the guy isn't that fast.)
The Bill are the #10 defense by DVOA and tied for #2 by scoring.
As a Panthers fan, I don't think the Bills scored at all with that trade. Work ethic needs serious help.
yeah that Jerod Evans guy is really tearing it up on the field for the hokies isn't he 🙄
All I know is that last year, the bills didn't have any of those things, I guess they drafted a defense
Bills led the NFL in rushing yards, rushing TDs, and YPA (by a significant margin) last year... That doesn't happen without a competent-at-worst offensive line. They were also a league average defense on the strength of the #6 rush defense. They also replaced their coach and entire front office in the offseason. It's like you just decided to list the three of the four most generic things people complain about when it comes to football lol (the fourth being QB)
Their O line looked absolutely horrible last night. TT got sacked so many times and had turnovers forced. Makes him look terrible but he can only do so much.
Honestly, with all the BS that Tyrod has put up with over the past couple years, I wouldn't blame him if he takes the best offer available and leaves down both middle fingers in the air.
wish he had taken the deal with Denver. He isn't getting the respect he deserves in Buffalo.
As a Broncos fan from the womb, it CRUSHES me that they couldn't get that done. Especially now that siemian's bed shitting has caused us to loop back around on brock storkweiler.
Why isn't Paxton Lynch the guy?
I know storkweiler got signed because lynch got hurt. I don't know if that's an ongoing thing or if he's gotten better. Lynch has kind of sucked, and it's been pretty clear to me in the last two preseasons that siemian won the job handily.
I wouldn't be surprised if stork was Elway's plan to shut it down and try to tank into the top third or quarter of the draft to reset on the 'franchise quarterback' search.
Realistically the Broncos organization is still trying to replace John Elway. Kinda similar to the Bills and Jim Kelly, actually. I know the Peyton Manning thing got us a ring. For years, the Broncos built a team and a defense around trying to get past Manning and the Colts in the playoffs, then when he hopped over it turned out that that defense was also real good at getting Tom Brady's number.
I feel like the Broncos' window is probably closing really fast. For what they wanted, Lynch is probably a bust. We're going to see how long Elway's grace period is for two rings as a player and one as the GM. If we can't get some decent quarterback play RIGHT NOW it's probably time to burn the place down and try to rebuild around Vonn Miller. The rest of the team is getting to be pretty old (even Vonn's not young at this point) and it's pretty apparent that we're not really going anywhere right now.
Tyrod certainly hasn't put himself up there with the Tom Bradys and Aaron Rodgers of the world, but heck who has? I think Buffalo is just a sports town starved for some success and that can lead to taking frustration out on the easiest target. The 2nd string QB is always the most popular kid in town when you're not winning.
Unfortunately for the Bills, they have to play the Pats twice a year every year. That's a tough spot to have been in for the last 16 years.
And its also a problem that will resolve itself over the next 4. If Bills fans are just patient, they have a team ready to take over the division in the near future, but Buffalo and patience aren't exactly words that go together.
Seriously... Between the Sabres going from one of the scariest teams in the NHL to what they are now, and the Bills not having made the playoffs since '99, we Buffalo fans are itching for SOMETHING successful.
Thank God for my Hokies....
As a DC sports fan, I can relate. Hang in there, brother!
It's scary when it seems the most reasonable quote in an article comes from Rex Ryan
Seven games into the season and this is the best chance the Bills have at making playoffs in years. All Bills fans will come around if they do.
Tyrod is the man! He will work hard his entire NFL career and never complain no matter how things end up with Bills or any other team he plays with in the future. I hope he finds playoff success with the Bills or another team in the future.
It seems that players and coaches only ever have good things to say about Tyrod, and that says it all!
Tyrod is one of the best competitors I've ever seen...
It's amazing how a team that over the last 20 years has at best been in the shadow of New England and at worst been downright awful can have fans look a gift horse in the mouth like this. After a certain point they have to be ready to let go of the delusion that the next Jim Kelly is on their bench right now. Do some people up there honestly think Peterman gives them a better shot at winning than Tyrod? Get out of here.
Its an instant feeling of inferiority at the first sign of adversity. The Bills have been so good at losing over the past 17 years that as soon as someone struggles its instantly "Here we go again, FIRE EVERYONE!!!!. As a QB who doesn't fit the normal mold of an NFL QB, Tyrod is an easy target especially since every Bills QB is always compared to Jim Kelly and Tom Brady - both stupid comparisons.
Also, none of us should expect reasonable debate from a fan base that is famous for setting themselves on fire and body slamming people through tables at their tailgates.
and wasting a perfectly good natty light on that man!
Side Note: Mina Kimes is one of the better new(ish) ESPN personalities. Every article of her's that I've read is great, and I hope she survives the next round of ESPN cuts.
And she's an entertaining follow on the twitter.
So what you're saying is that she is.... well qualified?
I believe on Monday's Russillo Show they had a guest who was talking about different QBs and Tyrod came up. The interesting point the guest made was the second thing scouts look at are the throws QBs don't make and that there are a bunch of examples of plays were Tyrod didn't make the throw when he should have. Which could be hurting his perception around the league.
Don't know how much (if at all) it's true but thought I would share.
I heard that same segment and thought it was an interesting point. That's probably the flip side of Tyrod throwing so few interceptions.
Tyrod is the best QB the Bills have had in years and years so in typical Bills fashion, they don't really want him around.
My dream scenario for Tyrod is Roethlisberger retires and the Steelers get him this offseason since they'll be too low to draft a QB. I'm not a Steelers fan but I may become one because an offense built around Brown, Bell, and Tyrod would be sick. The option game with Tyrod and Bell could be video game stuff.
No, stop, thats, no...still pissed about Flacco. He should have been traded a year or two ago. That would have kept T-Mobile in B-More. We had some good recievers, and a good defense.
And now I have to watch that Christmas Miracle Hand Reach play for the rest of my life.
In Baltimore? When was this?
2014. Steve Smith and Torrey Smith were a pretty good tandem.
Boldin, T Smith, and Pitta were good enough to win a superbowl.
^^^^thank you for the backup, this was what I was referring to
I'm still hoping Jacksonville makes a solid offer in the off season. With him under center instead of Bortles the Jags offense gets a huge boost. Having a running threat at QB who can throw a deep ball, combined with Fournette and Allen Robinson (when healthy next year), and the absurdly stout defense they would dominate the AFC South. Seriously.
The whole discussion in Buffalo sounds just like Redskins fans wondering if Cousins is the right guy. The best QB for the job is always the one you don't have.
I don't understand why NFL teams are so quick to dismiss quarterbacks who aren't Pro Bowl caliber (which Tyrod was last year anyway). Good QBs are so rare to have in the league, it seems like only a handful of teams have guys they're happy with. If you have a guy like Tyrod who doesn't turn the ball over, is more than a game-manager, and wins for you, why get rid of him?
I'm a lifelong Redskins fan and feel the same way about Cousins. He's not the greatest, but damn he's the closest thing to a franchise QB we've had since Doug Williams. I get the money issue, but why get rid of him just because he's not a top-5 QB?
Aren't you forgetting someone?
Who's that? Patrick Ramsey? Jason Campbell? Jeff George? Brad Johnson??
Mark Brunell!!
Poor Patrick Ramsey. That guy should visit Steve Spurrier once a week and punch him squarely in the face for the shit that he put that guy through.
Scoreboard.
Don't know if anyone is watching the Bills game right now but his offensive line might be trying to get him killed.
Poor Tyrod, Bills' OLs made him look like Sean Glennon in the LSU game.
I was honestly wondering if Tyrod pissed off some of the O-line during the week, cause they weren't even trying to protect him.
Of course now we'll have to deal with all of the "fans" clamoring for Peterman again.
Great drive by Tyrod! Just too little too late.
Got me 26 fantasy points. Sucks that most of that came in garbage time but I'll take it.
Thank god for garbage time. After the fumble he was at 10 and I thought he might stay there.
Buffalo fans are the stupidest fans ever. I have been following the bills subreddit a lot lately because of Tyrod and Logan Thomas, and the shit some of them say about Tyrod is ridiculous. They act if they are a perennial playoff team and deserve a top 5 qb in the league. They haven't done or won shit in years and they treat Tyrod like absolute trash after he is the single reason this game was even marginally close.
Seriously. The NFL is the worst.
Leg for Die Hard in general, and I give a second if I could for Hans Gruber. I even read it in his voice.
We just want SOME sort of success....
That being said, I love Tyrod. I want him around as long as possible. The man is a fierce competitor. Also something the Bills haven't had in years.
As much as the Pegulas do for the city of Buffalo, I'm not thrilled that they own and operate both professional teams there. They've kinda f*cked the teams up honestly. All in the name of
businessthe future.I'm not as worried about the Pegulas, they aren't making day-to-day personnel decisions. Their biggest mistakes were some bad GM and head coach hires for both the Sabres and Bills. My real issue is Russ Brandon who is the president of BOTH teams and has been a consistent thread with all the bad hires and decisions the Bills (and more recently the Sabres) have made for years. Why is he still around?
Someone allows for coaches and GMs to dictate and negotiate terms of SUCCESS. This is typical management mentality. You sign a contract you have expectations. Which is fine. But they really don't know anything about football, so the terms they get in the negotiation show and extreme naivety.
Dumping Sammy W? That is an indication that there is no expectation of playoffs, competitiveness. Or it could be Sammy's foot is was damaged beyond hope. EITHER WAY THIS TEAM AND COACH AND GM SHOULD HAVE HAD PLAYOFFS AS A GOAL
Shame on the Pegula's for not either negotiating that or getting someone in their management stream who would have negotiated that. Bar is persistently way to low with no REALISTIC resolution.
By realistic resolution I mean things like this idea that they need a franchise QB to be successful. Until then everything is just waiting til they get that GREENLIGHT GUY. What a city of retards to buy into that garbage. Sorry to retards, many of whom are good people.
So I'm not sure why you're throwing the fans and city into Lake Erie - would you like them better if they bailed on their teams because they were bad? Then they would just be Miami or LA.
And what are you talking about with the Pegulas? "negotiating a desire to make the playoffs"?? Of course they are trying - no one wants to be the face of futility. They realized the last group were not working and hired a new GM and coaching staff. Those new faces dumped Sammy, Marcel, and others because they had terrible contracts and/or wern't buying into the new regime. The fact they they just traded picks for Kelvin shows they are not tanking and are trying to make a run for the playoffs.
Also the pegulas aren't negotiating any contracts - that is handled by the President (who needs to go), GM and Jim Overdorf, who has been the primary salary negotiator forever.
As for the Sabres - they intentionally tanked for 2 years to win the McEichel sweepstakes. When you intentionally destroy your roster, it takes time to rebuild it.
.......so they
is what you're saying
Tyrod might have been the only Bills player who played well last night. That was painful to watch. The times he was sacked the ENTIRE O LINE got beat most of those times, complete pocket collapses. Not to mention he must have converted 5 or 6 third and longs for his team to immediately ruin it with penalties and fumbles. Not to mention the run defense decided to revert back to last year to the tune of 190 rushing yards, which in the NFL, is pretty much a guaranteed win. O'Leary and Matthews also had two of the worst fumbles I've ever seen. Unforced or barely touched fumbles.
This line sums up the situation the best:
