Well, at least it's not 12:00.

uva sucks

I'm going to get the GD Clemson and Citadel game on my TV instead, because it's "split". How the hell they choose those 3:30 and 7:30 games!

So good! So good! So good!

woohoo! We avoided noon games until game 9 of the season!

oooh. I just got the sadz realizing we only have 4 games left this season...

Actually not a bad start time considering time of year. It's about to get real cold in the burg and this will allow us to watch in the non-freezing cold. Plus might entice a few hundred students who planned on going home for Thanksgiving break stay an extra 24 hours to watch the game!

That was my immediate thought as well. I'll be honest though, even as an undergrad, I never understood the anxiety about bailing out of Blacksburg early, especially if there is a football game (even moreso when its the last home game of the season). Break is a full week ... after about 4 days at home I couldn't wait to head back to school.

This.

If there was a home game on the Saturday after break started, I always stayed. Plus, those Friday nights in Downtown were nuts because everyone knew that people were staying for the game, and the bars weren't as full which was kind of nice.

Also, if we played UVA at home on Saturday after Thanksgiving, I always made sure I was back for it. Don't understand the urge for students to stay at home under parent's house rules when you can escape back to Blacksburg so easily.

How long is winter break now? Think it was 2.5-3 weeks back in my time 03-07, but felt like two months. Far too long. I'd rather have longer semesters and more time at college than not.

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

I was at VT the same as you - we had about 4 weeks in total for winter break.

Of course it is, I'll be in a plane

The positive spin is we are undefeated under Fuente in games starting before 3:30

Weaver must be smiling down, saying "I tried to tell you all."

If you play it, they will win.

To tie this into uniforms, to the contrary, we are 1-2 when wearing ALL {Insert Color} EVERYTHING this year, which have all been kicks of 8:00p or later...

The White Out game was a win that kicked off at 2 PM. And technically, the WVU game kicked off at 7:40 PM.

So, monochrome before 8 PM, and we win.

Ahh yes it was 7:40p now looking back.

So ABC Primetime and All {color} Everything and we lose.

Uniforms aside, to date under Fuente:

8PM Kickoff: 0-4
Non-8PM Kickoff: 17-2

(I understand the quality of opponent in those 8PM games was different-- all 4 were ranked, undefeated teams at time of the game-- but thought it was an interesting stat)

And just for a little more fun...
Kickoff between 7 and 8 PM - 5-0

A little more relevant to this game, we are 3-0 on ACC Network games under Fuente. (Liberty and ECU last year, Duke this year.)

Looks like we're the "B" broadcast, based on how few stations are getting our game (which the links pretty much support).

Pitt at VT is only getting on TV stations in DC, MD, OH, PA, UT, VT, and WV.

But there's always the ACC website and app, and this one might actually show up on WatchESPN in the states not listed above.

That is awful.

In theory, if it's not carried locally, it should be available on WatchESPN and not blacked out.

I suggest everyone just be safe though and go to the game.

GT was blacked out on WatchESPN for me in Virginia last week. Doesn't even make sense, did they think I would drop everything and go to Atlanta???

No, it's because Raycom wanted you to watch it on TV, or on the ACC app.

WatchESPN worked for me last week even though the local LA affiliate was carrying the game.

While I would prefer a 3:30, I suppose I'll take a Jim Weaver special given the extra 20 minutes to chug 3 more bourbon and cokes, and by that I mean I pour myself a full mason jar of bourbon and then whisper "coke" across the surface of the beverage.

Let's go!

I'm in Portugal on a work trip. Anyone know of a way for me to watch the game online? I'm guessing there's a slim to none chance that the ACC network will work online over here?

Since we have learned that ACC Network games actually show up on WatchESPN in Guam, maybe they won't be blacked out in Portugal?

Thanks! I'm hoping it works. I've told my
clients meetings are over at 4:30 my time no matter what so I can find food & beer and figure out the game! πŸ˜€

Try the ACC website if WatchESPN won't work.

Thanks for the tip! Crossing my fingers 🀞🏻

Looking at Saturday's TV schedule and what's on TV VT didn't get any respect.

They could have done better with the way Raycom split their affiliates. I think that an ACC vs. ACC matchup would be better for them than an ACC vs. FCS game, even if the ACC team is #2. But for you, being in SC, how Raycom split their stations doesn't matter since you'd be stuck with the Clemson game regardless.

But when I'm looking at the TV schedule, I'm not seeing a lot of games that could have been swapped out with the VT game. Best case scenario, we would have gotten onto ESPNU.

On my TV around that time I have: SMU Memphis, Delaware State at FSU as worse games on their own channel. Then you have Western Carolina and UNC in 3pm time slot, BC and UConn in 7 pm time slot.

I'm pretty sure we went over this in week 1.

-BC at UConn is not controlled by the ACC contract, so it's on CBS Sports Network. We don't have access to that, so that is not a valid point for your argument.
-SMU at Memphis is on ESPNEWS. Probably has as many viewers as a Raycom split.
-FSU game is on RSN, which is probably on the same level as a Raycom game, but doesn't have a good streaming option. Although, here in Virginia, that and the GT/Duke game got bumped to the overrun channel for the RSN.
-Everything I see for the UNC game lists ACC Network Extra only. I can't find it in my TV guide, so I don't know what channel it might be on.

Didn't know BC was at UConn since it was being played at Fenway.

I mean its a 7-3 unranked VT against a 4-6 Pitt. Not exactly appointment viewing if you are outside the two fan bases. We had several chances for national respect and didn't earn it.

And of the three games I've listed which one is nationally interesting?

Memphis is ranked, and still in the running for the American championship, and therefore could be in play for a New Year's Six spot.

The FSU game is on regional sports channels, and like I said, getting bumped to the overrun channels for most of them.

And what channel are you seeing the UNC game on? Every outlet I see listed that game has it streaming only.

Still rather have a overrun channel than be forced to stream a game. As for UNC on my TV it's on a FS Carolina channel.

Here's a little hint, though. All of those games that are on the regional sports channels and ESPNEWS and other lower tier channels -- they're not getting any better treatment than our game. We're all being dumped into the sloppy seconds category.

FoxSports Carolinas is the regional broadcast for North and South Carolina. Can't blame them for wanting to air UNC on that channel when given the opportunity.

VT didn't get any respect.

We haven't earned that respect over the last couple weeks. We played a stinker against Miami, looking outclassed down in South Beach, and then turned around and lost to a middling GT squad, causing us to go from 13th to unranked in 14 days.

We have nobody to blame but ourselves for it.

If anyone is around and needs something to do before the noon kick tomorrow, we will be there in Lot 18 for one final time this year. Nothing fancy due to time constraints, but come on by!
