If you're pissed at GT or the refs and not the coaches right now I don't know what to say

I have a lot of anger to go around. In that moment I was particularly peeved about chinballs and his 'cut' blocking (don't forget settle went down twice with what looked like lower leg issues).

I believe our offensive coaches are a bunch of fucking morons for going deep twice on 3rd and fucking 1 with a minute to go deep in GT territory down 5 with 3 goddamn time outs and a QB who has been unable to make an accurate throw all fucking day.

Seriously, today has me questioning the competency of Cornelson going forward.

You have to believe Fuente made that call right?

Coaches have the OC\DC to help make calls but on 4th downs its always on the Coach. Doesnt mean he didnt green light a play from the OC

I understand questioning the play calling, I largely agree. BUTT. On that last toss on 4th down the ball was wildly underthrown. I liked the playcall because presnap I was screaming and pointing to cam wide with press single coverage. Ball is late and/or short, else we're talking about adding to the legend of Cam Phillips.

I find myself really questioning Jackson.

On 4th and 1 they choose to go deep with an indecisive inaccurate QB. It just wasn't the place or time for that call. Get the first down, then get cute.

Don't disagreee. Would have liked to play the string out and see if we can work our way in. I do like doing the non-obvious thing (finally, instead of bringing in Bush to run the ball up the middle, cuz everyone in the fucking state saw that one coming).

I'm hoping QP is as advertised.

Using /s is for cowards.

I haven't broken anything in the last two weeks. We all gotta find ways to deal.

I'd like to chop block Cornelsen pretty damn hard right now.

I hate to say this but since I said it out loud all game, I have no faith in our offensive play calling.

I actually think the reffing was not bad. My original post was more intended to be in the lineage of 'chop block o'clock' and hating on chinballs.

I wish I could blame this loss on Georgia Tech somehow, but it just doesn't seem like that to me.

I just remembered, sorry guys. I forgot to wear a tech shirt all week, so the Coaches lost in the Coaches room to themselves?

Most days its always a tech shirt and the Lucky shirts help in a winning plan. But this week I forgot

and the refs were terrible in this game..i felt GT was hitting us after the play was over or rolling on us but only one call went our way

Hokies, Local Soccer, AFC Ajax, Ravens

Again, i hate to be that guy.......first, play calling sucked....sorry. Giving play calling to Corn was bad idea apparently. Second, going for it on fourth down sucks.....sorry, take the points that poor play calling has given you. Third, it's not hard to recruit to Tech, so If FuMan wants to go to A&M or FL or where ever, so be it. I ain't begging for this. Very upset with this look. So much to love about Fu Man, but decision making faux pas are disheartening. Did not look like a top 25 team. I've been supportive of Jackson and FuMan, but either play calling or bad decisions (throwing fades or 50/50 passes on key downs) makes me hope that next years freshman qb is as advertised. Giving up huge plays on defense sucks too now that i'm on a rant. WTF. Seen it for years. I know Foster's not on the field, but someone has to take the blame for big play after big play. Instruction of don't let anyone get behind you isn't that difficult. WTF.

Sorry, the title of this thread reminded me of this:

GT's 12 y.o. quarterback only completed a couple (maybe a handful?) of passes. two were backbreaking touchdowns. The fuck were we doing?

This had the feel of one of the old stinespring 'well if the d can put a couple in we might pull this out' games. If Jackson's utterly ill advised jack on 3rd and real long hadn't magically fallen into Kumah's hands, this thing was over a lot sooner.

I'll play along.

...the in-game decision making, coaching, and play calling was atrocious, but there needs to be one more mess of a game before it's a trend. Still, it's very concerning.

I really think it's been an obvious trend all season and a lot of wins against teams with inferior talent have masked it.

ECU and ODU were really the only games all season where I came out without major questions about the offense and they're both historically bad this year.

Yeah I expect this to continue through the end of the season. Hopefully not losses, but definitely looking rough.

New contributors across the board on offense, with a Freshman QB, 10 games in. I could see us losing another game and then winning a mediocre bowl.

I was at the game; felt to me like the execution, effort and desire to win the one-on-ones seemed to only kick in, in the last 18 minutes. JJ looked erratic and the receivers seemed unable to separate. The O line showed up in the last quarter (thanks?) but running looked fairly decent -if that's a plus. Even the kicking game seemed amiss.

"...sticks and stones may break my bones but I'm gonna kick you repeatedly in the balls Gardoki!"

I vaguely remember that Bud was told he didn't have to play a perfect Defensive game everytime.....

Still waiting....

Let's Go

HOKIES

I believe I'll have another drink.

"I liked you guys a lot better when everybody told you you were terrible." -Justin Fuente

I popped this open and thought I had stumbled upon a re-opened thread from 2012.

I believe this was a tough day for the good guys. Coaches and players underperformed. Next week they get a chance to redeem themselves.

Still, it's the first team we are definitely better than who has beaten us this year. Look across the country. Other than 6 or 8 teams, the rest have had a crap game like this at least once this year and others have had more. We will be fine. This was an 8-9 win team based on talent and gaps in August and it still is.
