2017 Six-Pick Week 13

After a pretty disappointing game against an annoying coach, VT gets another game against an annoying coach this week. This time the spread is HUGE. I'm not so sure.

Here's the updated standings, including Week 1 (which was only done on here). If you don't see your handle on this list, then I wasn't able to match your CBSSports ID to a TKP handle.

SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 18

Why would you do this to a perfectly good steak?
Texas at WVU (-3)
Factoid #1: Thanks to their loss in the opener against Maryland, Texas now has to win either this game or Texas Tech next week to be bowl eligible.
Factoid #2: WVU coach Dana Holgorsen said this week he doesn't care about turnovers. Can't say I've heard that one before.
PICK: Texas is desperate here, but WVU's the better team right now.

Michigan at Wisconsin (-7)

Factoid #1: In three years now, Jim Harbaugh has yet to finish a season with fewer than two conference losses.
Factoid #2: Wisconsin still isn't in the top 4 of the CFP. I wonder if they'd be passed over if Clemson beats Miami in the ACCCG.
PICK: Harbaugh has missed his window. While this line is pretty good overall, I'll take Wisconsin to cover.

TCU (-7) at Texas Tech
Factoid #1: TCU and Texas Tech are bringing back a rivalry trophy from the 1960's called the "Saddle Trophy" for this game.
Factoid #2: Last week, Texas Tech finally broke a 4-game losing streak thanks to Baylor. Sounds like Kliff Kingsbury may be on his way out in a couple of weeks.
PICK: I'm surprised this line is so close. TCU in a blowout.

This shows up as one of the first images if you Google Pat Narduzzi. Awesome
Pitt at VT (-16)
Factoid #1: Pitt actually lost to the MASH unit that is UNC last week.
Factoid #2: Last week's lost to GT is the 3rd in 4 years.
PICK: I really don't like this line. VT wins but doesn't cover.

Texas A&M at Ole Miss (-3)
Factoid #1: Texas A&M sounds like they may be going after Jimbo Fisher this offseason.
Factoid #2: Sounds like Ole Miss fans have Bobby Petrino on their list. You know, because when you're replacing a coach for committing possible infractions, he's the first guy you should call.
PICK: A&M has started their annual late-season Sumlin swoon. Ole Miss wins & covers.

UCLA at USC (-15)
Factoid #1: UCLA is a whopping 2-6 in their last 8 games against the spread.
Factoid #2: This is USC's final regular-season game. On November 18th. I'm guessing the Pac-12 wanted to give them a bye week before their anticipated title game appearance?
PICK: This is a massive line for a rivalry game. UCLA covers it.

California at Stanford (-16)
Factoid #1: Cal has lost 5 of their last 7 games, with the wins coming against Oregon State (expected) and Washington State (?)
Factoid #2: Stanford has won 6 of their last 7.
PICK: It's pretty obvious these two teams are headed in opposite directions. Stanford has had a few odd ones this year, but they need to beat Cal to stay in the Pac-12 North hunt. They'll pummel Cal.

Presented without comment
Utah at Washington (-17)
Factoid #1: Utah has lost 4 of the last 5, with Kyle Whittingham now reaching the Acceptance phase.
Factoid #2: Washington is where UVA was last week; not technically eliminated from the division, but pretty much done.
PICK: Utah has packed it in for the year. Even with a HUGE line, Washington covers.

DRINK OF THE WEEK:

One of the biggest adventures involved in hosting a party (like, say, Halloween) is drinking the stuff people brought over and left. A standard on-the-way pickup is the variety pack of beers & ciders. These are usually things that were made in a small batch that the brewery thinks wouldn't sell on their own.

This is one of them. Somebody left a variety 12-pack of Angry Orchard over here, and I've been gradually working my way through them. This one was the weirdest. Why was this made? If I wanted the flavor of hops, I could just drink any number of IPA's that, you know, actually taste good.

Remember, we're making our picks on CBSSports.com (LINKY HERE), though feel free to let everybody know what the correct answers will be in the comments.

Another 3-5 or 4-4 week is locked in.

Young grasshopper, in order to use the powers of the force, one must first recognize a 'sub-par' beverage left behind from these events, and then identify the next 'family' event to properly dispose upon others, rather than forcing yourself through palate misery.

Tis truly an art!!!

I would recommend pouring down the toilet, someone must break the cycle and you do not want to force Angry Orchard on anyone else.

Angry Orchard is way too sweet, but I've taken an appreciation for Bold Rock. They've got some solid stuff and I'm not huge on cider even those I'll drink it. Here's a tip on pumpkin beer someone sent me however that I'll use before it goes to the next family gathering:

That face looks familiar. Very familiar. I'm not going to say it.

I deserve a prize for this...right?

I didn't catch that, but yeah, that's the 4th or 5th one of those we've had this season. Yet we haven't had a perfect week yet. You'd think we would have gotten one by chance at this point.

well, we've had 3 weeks where perfect was impossible due to pushes, so that lowers the odds a little.

I'm starting to worry that our game is going to go down to the wire. Hopefully our defense can put some points on the board!

VT gets another game against an annoying coach this week.

Question: You have to have a beer with either Paul Johnson or Pat Narduzzi. Who do you pick?

I'll go with Narduzzi. He'd be at least entertaining and would probably start a bar fight for accusing some random guy of looking at him the wrong way. Johnson would just sit there and order an Orange Nehi and complain about the temperature in the bar while he proceeded to talk to you about how life was simpler in Newland, North Carolina.

"What kind of person would throw away a perfectly good dog?"

I picture PJ ordering a Shirley Temple.....but I guess the point is the same

I originally had Rob Roy, but then realized that was actually a pretty sweet cocktail.

I'd go PJ. Narduzzi seems like he'd just whine too much and I get enough of that from the kids. Plus I could ask PJ if he really is a Ballchinian.

PJ would complain about the amount of head on the beer, the glass it's served in, them cutting him short in a "pint glass" that is only 14.9 oz instead of 16 oz., the temp of the beer, what's on tv, the taps in the wrong location, the pants of the bartender, the color of the floor mat, the labels on the top shelf slightly askew, then compliment having the Bowmans on the shelf instead of the well by the ice...screw him.

He would then ask the busy bartender questions about all 7 beers on tap, think for a little bit out loud, and order a Miller Light with a lime wedge.

No idea about the beer. But do have some of these, so they might win out.
