OK. VPISU came up with a SPECTACULAR idear. I'll start off:
1) Beating the cousins @ FedEx (monkey off the back).
2) Slip'n slide after beating Dook.
3) #10-0Bro @ Lane North.

I don't think I'm tkp'ing hard enough to fully get this thread...
Same
You're both correct and it's irrelevant at this juncture (plus not my news to share). That's why I deleted it. Sorry. Nothing to see here.
After this thread has been repurposed, I stick by my original statement and I am even more thoroughly confused.

Wow, great write up, Mac. Very in-depth. Couldn't agree more. +1
Well now I just look like
even more ofan idiotSeriously, I have asked Joe (at his convenience) to take it down. Sorry.
This one time at band camp...
Maybe we can re-purpose this thread? Let's turn it into...
OT: Ask TKP, What is the best Barbecue you had in 2017?
Amended. Thanks!!!
Goat in Nassau
Edit: Jerked Goat with Hellfire sauce. Excellent!
There is definitely something wrong with that, even if the Bahamas is cool with it
I'll have to disagree here. Jerked goat is awesome, though if you live here, and hunt, I HIGHLY recommended jerked venison loin. A Jamaican (or Bahamian) goat curry works great with some of the tougher deer cuts as well.
Finally some else joins me in the gutter!!
You had my curiosity, but now you have my full attention
When hung over go to Jim's Steak House in Harrison, MI. Greasyist hash browns in the states.
1. Goal line stand at Pitt. I almost cried.
2. Last play of the game against WVU and ensuing Enter Sandman.
3. The whole 59-7 UNC game. But specifically Stroman's punt return to go up 14-0. The rout was on.
I, like, 28% thought I was having a heart attack before and after that goal line stand. Heart was pounding so hard.
Same same. Holy shit.
Look no further than the ESPN win probability tracker for that game. Looks like a concept drawing for a really scary roller coaster. Can't embed so here's the link
http://www.espn.com/college-football/game?gameId=400937528
Remember that TKP countdown of top Devastating and Dominating plays that were done based on how they impacted the win % odds? This game would have had some high spots
I would 150% downvote you just for Silver Diner if I hadn't also eaten there countless Friday nights after going out in Clarendon. It's shameful. But I love it.
Best Football Season Moments
1. Beating WVU and breaking the FedEx curse.
2. Routing UNC after all the hurricane game narratives.
3. Being in the student section overflow for Enter Sandman before the Clemson game.
4. Goal line stand vs Pitt.
5. All Penguin dances.
Best Barbecue
The Smokin' Pig, I'm not a huge barbecue fan (as in specifically pulled pork) honestly, I usually get a 1/2 chicken at barbecue restaurants, but TSP lives up to the hype in my humble opinion.
Best Late Night Diner
I'm a simple man, my late night go to is always Waffle House.
got take-out from smokin pig a couple months ago, during a clemson game, so it was empty. the parking lot was full of VT students though, playing cornhole. i think one of our club teams might've been in town. it was nice to see that place overrun with hokies.
UNC game, without a doubt. Only because that game was the least stressful.
Buzz and Neds
Waffle House in Fort Mill SC the morning before the WVU game. We had an employee quit in the middle of the shift, complete with shouting match in front of the customers.
This would be me watching this incident:

Back in my 703 evenings, there were two places after drinking that were worth the drive:
Barnside Diner
or
Yechon (korean bbq)
+1 for Barnside. Used to live down the street from that joint. Many a recovery meal enjoyed!
Top 3 Moments:
1. #14
2. Goal Line Stand
3. UNC beat down
Honorable Mention: Clemson pregame. From the sky diver people to sandman it was a blast and Clemson fans around me were impressed.
I'm probably going to set up the top plays bracket after Monday's national championship game.
Best BBQ: There's a new BBQ joint in Lynchburg called Blue Ridge BBQ and catering that opened on Timberlake Road. Better than Silver Pig dont @ me.
Best Late Night Meal: Taco Bell or Dennys.
I'll have to try that. Silver Pig used to be our tailgate staple, but the heads have migrated towards Chick-fil-A nugs and burger flipping. I can't really complain.
Can confirm: Blue Ridge BBQ is better than Silver Pig.
I see you're in Lynchburg - Have you been to Beale's yet?
No I haven't. I don't get out that way much anymore since I don't work out there any more. EPW and I might have to make a trip out there soon :eyes:
I tried some of their beer and barbecue at a Food Truck Festival at Grandin Village a few months back, as well as met the owner, same weekend as the UNC game actually. From the small sample I had, it was very good. They've got several offset, wood burning, smokers that they use for their meat.
I've had Beale's once. Pork was good. Brisket was decent. Haven't tried the Ribs. So far the best ribs I've had in Lynchburg has been been at Fifth and Federal.
Top 3
1. Goal line stand
2. Whole UNC game
3. 10-0.
Best BBQ was after Pitt at Due South.
Best late night food is Cookout don't @ me, @ Quin Blanding
FTFY
You know what sucks? a Cookout opening in Blacksburg. Trying it for the first time. Loving it. Being diagnosed with Celiac less than a month later. No more fried food for me...
You know what sucks less than that? Already having experience with Cookout, never actually having it in Bburg for 4 years, and then one opening the summer after you graduate.
There will always be milkshakes.
I wish. Unfortunately with the abundance of glutenous milkshake toppings (fillings?) the equipment is never really free from contamination and I've had a reaction every time I've tried to eat one from there even when I've explained my situation and they claim to have cleaned the equipment before making mine.
1. Pitt goal line stand
2. Beating WVU
3. Extending The Streak
4. Motu giving Fu the lei
5. The Clemson Game. Even though we lost it was a heckuva time. Sandman, the skydivers, the game...great memories
Pigman BBQ on the OBX.
I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Jersey Mikes. NYE had a little too much Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey and...yeah the hangover was bad. My buddy went to get food and brough back Jersey Mikes, it was amazing. Second choice would be Cookout, but its great sober. Third Waffle House, also great sober.
1) Goal line stand
2) Goal line stand
3) Goal line stand
in that order....the odds of pulling that off were insanely low --> and we did it. damn I'm fired up now.
Top 3 Moments
1) Entire WVU Game
2) Goal Line Stand
3) Goal Line Stand with Titanic Music
For BBQ, we just hit up Smoked Kitchen and Tap in Crozet over Christmas weekend. If anyone is near Crozet, GO! You will not be disappointed. There were 6 of us in the group, and we each got a different meat so we could share. There was not a single meat that was subpar. Sides are amazing (get the cheesy potatoes with bacon) the wings and fried pickles for an app. Plus, great local craft beer selection. In the warm weather, they have a roof top bar and patio - which would be cool too. I digress.
Best Late Night Eatery/Diner for Hangover: we've got poor choices in Leesburg that qualify - maybe Delirium Cafe for a hangover?
Yeah late night options are limited, but I'm just glad that food options overall are so much better than they were even a few years ago. And what are the odds that the first US-based Delirium cafe would end up in Leesburg, VA, of all places?!
Also, while I haven't been there since the fire, the Leesburg Diner used to be a great weekend breakfast spot... once they stopped allowing people to smoke at the bar, that is.
A new restaurant just opened called Side Bar - the Mrs. and I went yesterday morning - pretty good Bloody Mary with the works, and solid brunch offering. We walked out with a check for under $30.
Leesburg Diner is solid - that place is always busy on the weekends for Breakfast.

Best football moments:
Best BBQ
I maintain that Heirloom BBQ in Atlanta is the best BBQ I've ever had.
Best Late Night Eatery/Diner for Hangover
Let's not over think this - Nothing beats a cookout tray at 3am. The next morning, I highly recommend large bowl of Pho from an authentic Vietnamese restaurant.
The best barbecue I've ever eaten came out of my own smoker. The best I've ever had from a restaurant was probably Smoque in Chicago.
Joe's Diner will always have a soft spot in my heart, right next to the hard spot on my liver.
Best Moment- The Goal Line Stand- a proxy for everything good this season
Best BBQ
B's Cracklin BBQ in Atlanta and Savannah outstanding
Best Hangover Cure
Wafflehouse
Best moments:
1. Taking both girls to the ODU game. The older one had been once before, but this year the 3yo got to join in the fun!
2. 14 and counting. Don't @ me.
3. Beating the 'eers.
4. Another beatdown on UNcheat.
BBQ: My own, especially after getting schooled by Chris @ Dizzy Pig. Best restaurant BBQ: Tie between Reata BBQ (while drinking @ Barnhouse Brewery) and Buz & Ned's.
Best hangover cure: Not necessarily a late-night place, but Melt in Leesburg is fantastic -- get the poutine!
