Buzzketball stays home after a tough loss to Florida State on Saturday. The North Carolina Tar Heels come to town the Hokies with a 16-4 overall record. The Tar Heels only losses this season are #4 Michigan State, #8 UVA, #24 Florida State and a shocker to Wofford. They have P5 wins over Stanford, Arkansas, Michigan, #20 Tennessee, Ohio State and five wins in conference thus far. So far in the ACC, outside the losses, the Tar Heels lowest offensive output is 69, with their high 104 against Western Carolina.
The Hokies plan to honor Frank Beamer for being inducted to the College Football Hall of Fame tonight

Home again in Cassell but definitely an underdog although the line only says 3.5 right now, which I would have expected to be higher honestly with how things have been going for the Hokies. The good news for the Hokies is that UNC allows opponents to shoot 37% from outside and allow opponents to shoot at will with 534 attempts so far this year, which is 332nd in the country.
This will be the Eighty first meeting between the Hokies and Tar Heels. UNC leads the all-time series 67-13. UNC won last years matchup 91-72. The Hokies are 8-37 at home against UNC all time.

POOP
The Tar Heels are coached by Roy Williams, who has been at UNC since 2003. His first season is the only year the Tar Heels have not won at least 20 games(19 wins) under his tutelage. They have 13 NCAA Tournament appearances, and one NIT appearance. They have made it to the Elite Eight seven times, the Final Four three times, NCAA runner up once and NCAA Champion twice, including last year under Williams. The amazing thing about Williams is that before coming to UNC, his Kansas teams also only failed to reach 20 wins once (19 wins), also in his first season there. He has a career 79% winning percentage as a coach and just last year reached 800 career wins. He is now 832-220 as a head coach, 414-119 at UNC.
Defensively, the Tar Heels run almost exclusively a man to man defense. Coach Williams relies on the talent of his players to win out in one on one matchups. Their defense is designed to drive their offense, as Williams like to tell his players that they need to be playing 94 feet of offense all the time.
Offensively, North Carolina runs a constant motion offense with the goal of being primarily a transition offense. Coach Williams tells his guys that if there are less than 2 defenders back they they should score with 2 or less passes. If more than two they need to move to their motion offense. Expect to see two bigs in play in the lane at the same time. They are trying to find the point where the defense lapses on one or the other and take advantage of it. The Tar Heels also don't focus nearly as much on shooting from outside, especially compared to the competition.
What does that mean for the Hokies?
The Hokies are going to have their hands full down low all game. Blackshear and Clarke likely will not be enough to keep the North Carolina bigs in check. Its going to take total team defense to deny the easy buckets underneath from this Tar Heels squad. Currently the Tar Heels average 50% shooting inside on 43 shots per contest.
The Hokies have another opportunity to find their way back defensively. UNC struggles against press defenses, especially when it stretches the floor. Those games have seen their turnover numbers drastically increase. The Tarheels are averaging 12 turnovers per game. I would hope that Buzz has his guys turn the pressure all the way up, especially early on in each half.
The Hokies need to do something that is almost anathema to them, and that is to slow this game down almost to a snails pace. They need to block interior passing lanes while controlling the clock, limit the fluidity of motion so that they have a tough time establishing a rhythm. The games that go slow have been bad for the Hokies but they have been arguably worse for the Tar Heels as UNC has averaged 62.25 points in its four losses while averaging 82.7 points per game this season, or almost a twenty point drop off when they lose.
Today as has been the case most of the season, the Hokies perimeter players need to be almost perfect. There is no room for the Hokies to go cold over an extended period from outside. As mentioned above though, the outside shot is a major flaw for UNC so taking advantage is critical for the Hokies to have a chance at victory.
Tar Heels Backcourt

Joel Berry II (#2) 6', 195 Lbs Senior Guard is averaging 17.3 PPG, 3.3 RPG, 2.9 APG and 1 SPG. He is shooting 36% from behind the arc and 38% overall in a down season for him. He makes 2.6 threes per game. He also happens to shoot free throws at about 90% so all around, if you can limit his possessions and shots it improves your chances of winning.

Kenny Williams, (#24) 6'3, 166 Lbs Junior Guard comes in averaging 11.9 PPG, 3.4 RPG, 2.5 APG and 1.1 SPG. He is shooting 41% from outside which is a significant improvement over last season. He also struggles at the free throw line shooting 70%. His greatest improvement though is his interior scoring, where he is making 56% of his shots this season.

Cameron Johnson (#13), 6'7, 185 Lbs Senior Guard has stepped into the role vacated by Nate Britt after being a graduate transfer from Pitt. He is averaging 11.7 PPG, 5.1 RPG, 2 APG and .7 SPG. He is probably their best on ball defender amongst the guards so expect him to be locked up with Hill or Bibbs for a good portion of the night, especially if UNC gets out to a big lead. He missed time early in the season but has made up for that with double digits in four of seven ACC games, with special focus on perimeter shooting having hit 17 threes, including a 6 for 9 performance against Clemson.
Tar Heels Frontcourt

Luke Maye, (#32), 6'7, 227 Lbs Junior came out of his shell last season and has continued that trend, leading the Tar Heels in scoring at 17.8 PPG, 10.5 RPG, 2.4 APG and 1.1 BPG. Maye is shooting 52% inside and 48% from outside, yes, 48% on 3 shots per contest. His only struggles seem to be at the line, where he is hitting only 61%.

Theo Pinson, (#1), 6'6, 211 Lbs, Senior Forward has returned to action after missing much of last season to injury to provide the Tar Heels 9.2 PPG, 5.5 RPG, 4.3 APG, and 1 SPG. Pinson plays a role much like Clarke, controlling the ball at the point, driving the lane and hitting open shooters, and being able to score the shots no one else would attempt.

Sterling Manley, (#21), 6'11, 240 Lbs Freshman Center provides the Tar Heels with a dominant inside presence putting up 6.1 PPG and 4.7 RPG.

He is joined down low by fellow freshman, Garrison Brooks, (#15) 6'9, 215 Lbs who is also putting up 5.2 PPG, 4.2 RPG, and 1 APG. This is not nearly as dominant an inside group though as last year where they had Justin Jackson, Isaiah Hicks, Kennedy Meeks and Tony Bradley to go along with Pinson and Maye.
What to expect from UNC?
The Tar Heels rely on a rotation of eight players. They rely heavily on their bigs to do most of the scoring. That's not good news for the Hokies, who have struggled against size at every turn. They will be looking to get the ball in the paint on almost every possession tonight.
The Tar Heels will struggle if forced to go to more perimeter shooting so something to watch for, especially if a few of their bigs get in early foul trouble.
The Tar Heels will look to expose weaknesses in the lane. Don't be surprised to see quite a few alley oops or high pass lay ins as Pinson lobs the ball over the top to a big under the basket for an easy score.
One other thing to keep in mind. This is the 11th team in the country in terms of offensive rebounding. They average almost 14 offensive rebounds per game. This is troubling for a team that does not seem to have developed much in the way of a rebounding game, especially with the constant guidance to get back on defense rather than attempt to get offensive rebounds of their own. If they score at about the same percentage they do now as a team, that will be an extra 11 points per game they manage from the second chance opportunities.
The Hokies
Tech has two choices in this game. Attempt to slow things down and limit UNC opportunities to score dramatically to try to keep it a close game or they will attempt to run UNC out of the gym, especially with how they rely on big men across their roster for most of their offense. I expect to see Buzz have them go with the second option even though my thoughts are the first is their best chance.
Tech needs to drive inside to get fouled. Controlled drives right at a specific big. They need to disrupt the UNC offense that relies so heavily on having three or four bigs on the court at any point and time. Early foul trouble could give the Hokies a window to work up a lead. Almost every player in their normal rotation averages about 2 fouls per game.
Ahmed Hill and Justin Bibbs need to have their best games of the season tonight. Shooting from the arc needs to probably be around 60% for the Hokies to keep this game close.
Highlight of the Florida State Game
Justin Robinson did all he could to keep the Hokies in the game. He scored 26 points on 10-15 shooting including 4-7 from outside. He grabbed 2 boards, had six assists and even was credited with a block. He did still have four turnovers which is troubling but Blackshear's foul trouble is definitely what did the Hokies in. He only managed 18 minutes on the court.
In Closing
UNC is going to look to pound the paint either by pass or by drive. The Hokies have to find a way to keep the ball out of the interior. Expect to see a lot of 1-3-1 zone with defenders blocking their big counterparts from the front. This still may not prevent scoring as these bigs are more than capable of accepting a lob or directed pass for alley oops or lay ups. This matchup probably decides the game.
The offense has to be operating at a fluid clip. The Hokies should have some mismatches in terms of speed versus size on the offensive end so using that to their advantage and getting the UNC bigs in foul trouble could play a key role in a Hokies upset.
I hope this team proves me wrong but everything they have shown says that the Tar Heels represent another loss and one step closer to a lost season. The Hokies desperately need a win in this one because the remaining schedule is ACC Murderer's row.

Comments
Its GAME TIME. Need a big effort tonight to keep the season from slipping away.
That picture of Roy Williams is money.
And Duke ๐
I have low expectations for tonight after the way we've played so far this calendar year.
Bilas is such an NC homer, he just needs to shut up.
I see defending is still optional tonight
UNC already on pace to ring up 100. Stop me if you've heard this before: they're hitting open 3's.
Unusually high 3 point night for the opposing team
Roy Williams has yellow teeth.
Just referring to the photo in the article, above. Love it.
UNC's first three made 3 pointers were all made without a hand in the shooter's face (Blackshear in position to get a hand up every time). Their one missed 3, Bibbs had a hand up in the shooter's face. Again, it's not a coincidence that teams shoot the lights out against us.
Apparently Luke Maye is about to drop 70 points on us.
no kidding
Way too many open looks for UNC tonight.
UNC is clearly a team you can't give open shots to.
Having said that, there probably aren't many teams in the ACC you can do that to.
Haven't heard that in a long time.
Blackshear got both his nightly travel and dribble off of own leg out of the early. Nothing in our way now
Decent little turnaround there when it felt like it was about to get ugly, but we still missed a few open looks that could have evened this game up or given us a lead during that little recovery run. Gotta turn those "keep us in the game" runs into "taking the lead and all the momentum back" runs.
The way Joel Berry uses his body to shield the ball and kiss it high off the glass is a thing of beauty.
God, this camera angle is awful.
This ESPN broadcast sucks in a terrible way... awful camera angles, so many story lines that are apparently way more important than the game itself. Sheesh
Bilas and McDonough are actually my favorite ESPN crew for college basketball, and it's not even close. The camera angles are garbage though.
Usually that is an issue with the venue and not the broadcast team. Only so many places you can put cameras in a stadium.
Sweet three for Robinson.
It was wide as tits open. Still sweet though
Way to fight for the board
Great 12-2 (and counting) run down to the 26 sec mark. And it was fed by solid defense and aggressive rebounding.
Great finish to the first half! Loved the energy on defense tonight! Love the energy around the boards tonight! Love the energy from Buzz tonight!
Hokies looking good from 3. KBJ with no personals at the half-way mark, that's huge.
Need this momentum. Keep it up boys!
Me gusta
Buzz at the half is what I looked like after the Pitt game.
VT has looked like a completely different team on defense there at the end of the half. I hope we can keep it up
Great finish to the half. Blackshear with 0 fouls is the best stat ive seen all season.
Love the energy tonight. We look like a completely different team once we start seeing the ball go through the basket from deep. Seems like we give more effort on defense too. Gotta hold on to get a signature win at home and keep our tournament hopes alive. Lose this game and we're probably not going dancing at 2-5 in the ACC. Come on boys, hold on! Cassell is rocking tonight!
we've had only 5 turnovers. carolina has 0 points off turnovers. carolina has 6 turnovers. the Hokies have 7 points off turnovers. keep turnovers to 10 or less for the game. good things usually happen.
Anybody notice the basketball team only scored 4 more than the football team at halftime vs. UNC.
Carolina on a little bit of a run here to start the second half. Hopefully we withstand it. And Bibbs, not sure where he's at tonight missing 2 FTs.
Buzz wearing the CFB t-shirt! I like it!
Just thought I'd mention that I hate Luke Maye.
Nice effort by KJ on that tie up. And a great play on the pick and roll a couple of possessions ago.
That missed three was a huge turning momentum. Could have been 51 -42 UNC probably would have called a TO.
First time in a while that we're actually getting stops on a regular basis because I can't remember the last time we've gone on a run against another team. Basketball is a game of runs and you can't go on one without getting stops.
Buzzrunningonthecourttoplay.gif
BuzzpattingRoyontheback.gif
THIS CROWD IS LIVE THOUGH
I think this is the team we all expected to see most nights.
When we contest the 3 we are getting misses and we are fighting on the glass tonight. A lot of 50/50 and 40/60 (KJB tie up) are coming up ours because of effort.
Buzz 100% set the record for farthest a coach has run on to the floor without getting a technical.
11 years ago we beat UNC in Blacksburg when they were number one in all the land...
KJB has played a really good game tonight. He's not scoring like in the Pitt game, but he's played smart controlled defense and, been aggressive on the boards and been effective offensively.
Holy crap I just got home and turned it on. Buzzketball is confusing the crap out of me right now.
This is a totally different team when Buzz is animated. I don't know what the stoic Buzz was in the begining of the year but I'm glad crazy Buzz is back. Seems like all the energy stems from him
THIS....been asking for this Buzz all year, and it's not a coincidence that the team kept feeding off the energy especially when it got close a few times in the middle of the second half. Hopefully this isn't a visit and the Animated Buzz has come home for good
me likes "crazy Buzz"!!!
And sweaty Buzz is a good Buzz
Bilas: "the overarching analysis is that the tar heels are simply getting overworked." ๐ฅ๐ฏ
Great crowd tonight. Need em' like this all season!
You guys have no idea how hype I am right now

LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOKIIIIIEEESSSS
I need a celebratory rail!
*proceeds to drive 4 and a half hours for a rail*
I seriously considered it. 3 hours 10 minutes from my house to Tots.
Not going to lie, sort of embarrassed by the court-storming.
Nah...I hope we rush the court every home game!!!
Sweaty Buzz is #theTRUTH!
Cassell is such a hard court to storm. Only way on to the court is to hop the ten foot wall. It's the court storming equivalent of Pickett's charge. And we all know how that turned out
yep, cuz everyday we beat a top10 team that cheats to get to that level yep.. not a court-storm worthy win at all
Buzz Williams is the greatest coach in the history of the world!!!!
(Until we lose again /s)
DOCTOR GETTING CALLED IN 4 HOURS
LET'S GOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOKIES
HOKIES!
I LOVE EVERYONE IN THIS BAR
Great win tonight. I hope this can give our confidence a boost and give us some momentum going forward.
only 9 turnovers! 10 or fewer... GREAT things happen!!!
As somebody who never got to storm the court, I hope anybody who is crabby enough to complain about the students storming the court steps on some legos.
Directly after you, some asshole bitched about it. Fuck the haters.
*hottakehottakehottake*
In no way did I bitch about it, I was just saying it was my opinion on it... you are getting too emotional about my opinion on this matter.
People are free to disagree with me, I have no problem with that.
Great win, but I wish they wouldn't storm the court.
I agree, we have had much bigger upsets that have been court storming worthy. Great win/upset but man, when I saw the students run onto the court, I was shaking my head.
Meh, let the kids have fun. Not everything has to be hyper analyzed for it's worth.
I am not hyper analyzing... It was my opinion (that others share) that it was embarrassing.
We're not the quality of program where we can say a court storm over a Top 10 win against a blue blood is beneath us.
We have done it many times before where it doesn't have that shock value as much imo. Again, great win but not worthy of a court storming in my opinion. It was a 4 loss UNC. If it was a 2 or less losses and top 5, I'll hear you out.
Lol so now we're qualifying how Impressive we need our Top 10 opponents to be in order to really be allowed to fully celebrate.
Again, this is all stemming from my opinion. You and others obviously don't have to share it. You and other can celebrate however you want, I was just stating my opinion. UNC also doesn't feel like a top 10 team to me. Great win and all for resume, all I said is I don't think it was court storming worthy.
And your asshole-ish comment was itself embarrassing. Why do you hate fun? This team is NOT in a place to turn down celebrations like this. I don't know if you're a closet Alabama fan or what, but you need to adjust your expectations and stop being a fun-sucker.
Now is the time when everyone needs to chill out and celebrate the fact that the we all root for won an impressive game.
He's throughout this thread bitching about the fans having fun.
I am sorry you see that as an "asshole-ish" comment but I don't see it. I was just stating a simple opinion that I wish we didn't storm the court after this win. Simple as that.
Great win, but the court storming is really embarrassing in my eyes. It's not like they are undefeated or top 3 team.
Its a top 10 team that we haven't beaten since 2010.
Thats great and all, but imo that win wasn't really court storming worthy. Like I said, great win, but nothing worth storming the court.
Let the kids have fun. It's about them.
They are having their fun, but imo that was still very embarrassing. If they were, top 5 or better and/or undefeated at this point of the season, I would say otherwise.
The court storming will certainly give UNCheat fans the opening for snarky comments; those cry babies! IMO, storm the damn court/field anytime we beat LOLUVA or UNCheat in any sport!
The only team and fan base that should be embarrassed tonight is UNCheat. They got out hustled and out played and our fans were freaking fantastic and deserved to celebrate that win just as much as the players!
UNC, cry baby cheaters! Someone post the Jordon crying GIF please!
I agree UNC should be embarrassed based on their play. They play half as good as they should/can and this game is much closer.
I never said everybody was/should be embarrassed about the court storming, all I said was IMO it was embarrassing. I think their are better win (ACC or not) that are worthy of it.
no problem with your opinion. I'm just fired about that win and I almost tried to storm the court through my TV!!
HAve I mentioned that UNC is full of cheaters and cry babies!!
Signed,
NC Triad Hokie
Oh I was pumped for the win too, but not as much as others where I could see it being court storming worthy. I know this is dumb to argue about but I am for one to act like you have been there unless for the small cases of winning against undefeated (or close to it) team in top 3-5
It is arbitrary and ridiculous to draw the line at a specific number. It is an organic thing that just happens, not something that should be planned or regulated.
What exactly about the kids coming together celebrating a big win after a stretch of tough games makes you blush?
I am one to act like you have been there before with the exception of beating top 5 teams that are undefeated or close to being. UNC also doesn't feel like a top 10 team to me.
They were top 10 coming into tonight's game, and they aren't top 10 as they travel home!
based on the rankings, yes.... I was merely just analyzing what I have seen today and in the past, I don't see them ending up as a top 10 team.... probably between 15-25 imo
The last time we beat UNC in basketball, the current students were between 10 and 14 years old. They literally haven't been there before.
Yes it was a great win, really all I said is that I and I didn't think it was court storming worthy, thats it. Not arguing with anybody, just stating my opinion on it. Not saying I am right and everybody is wrong.
I have seen you posts opinions on here and some I don't agree with but I don't respond to them all knowing that it's not going to change they way you think/your opinion.
I was there in Cassell my Freshman year at Tech. Great experience! Cassell was packed and loud from warmups until the final buzzer.
You've spent this thread acting like an entitled asshole. Please don't do that.
Strictly just stating my opinion that it was embarrassing in my eyes. Great win, but all I said I wish they didn't rush the court. If you see that as being an "entitled asshole" then I don't know what to tell you.
....but we haven't been here before. This team was a dumpster fire pre Buzz, and hadn't had any real success since the 80's. Let em storm the court and have fun. UNCheat is an excellent team, they will make noise in the tourney.
But we have. Haven't beaten UNC since 2010 but we have had our fair share of top 10 upsets. Students can storm the court and have fun but again, I am just saying I wouldn't have and it was embarrassing to me (and others, friends of mine who went to VT also texted me the same thing) to storm the court..... again..... just my opinion on it.
Exactly. You just proved my point. I know it's your opinion, but the fact that the only real thing we have to hang our laurels on are some top 10 upsets sprinkled here and there and an NIT title way back when means we have most definitely not "been there."
I don't know how I proved your point. We have a good amount of top 10 upsets in years past, so we have definitely "been there" before. This isn't like 1-32 like the football team has against top 5 teams (or whatever it is).
Look, you and the others can be happy court rushing, all I said it was embarrassing in my eyes, agree to disagree, that is fine with me.
Instructions unclear. Please provide a flowchart for when storming the court against a top 10 team is acceptable.
Acceptable to some, embarrassing to other... It is what it is. Nothing serious, just stating my opinion on it that is shared by others. Like I have said in many of my previous posts, GREAT WIN! happy for coaches, players, fans, etc. I just didn't have a feel for this win to be court rushing worthy, and again, thats just my opinion.
When you're a student for 4 years at a school that is good enough to get to the tournament once a decade, any big win is worth storming the court.
Well thats you opinion and I respect that. But in my eyes, it wasnt THAT big of a win to rush the court.
If unc was ranked ranked 15-25 with same record and all, would it be court storming worthy? Serious question.
Good thing they were ranked 10th then and not 15-25
well it was a serious question just for curiosity... I wonder if UNC was like #19, would students rush the court? I don't know.
It's a pointless hypothetical. UNC wasn't ranked #19, they are a Top 10 team. They rushed the court for a Top 10 win.
For the record, I would rather them rush the court for every win. As far as I'm concerned, let the kids have fun. Sports are supposed to be fun, not a constant argument about what level of fun is justifiable at any moment.
I know it was hypothetical, thats why I said it was for curiosity. I don't care what you would rather them do. All I was saying is I'm sure they had fun regardless they rush the court or not, I just saw it as embarrassing. Whether you like that or not doesn't change the fact it is just an opinion.
I'm with you. I'm just not a fan of court storming against a team that lost to Wofford
I was not there, and have no idea what I would have done in the moment, but living in NC, I have already heard several congratulations on the great win, and the only one to say anything about storming the court was a bitter Heel. I'm not trying to argue against your opinion, just that I don't think it matters to those who are not emotionally involved for or against either team.
It's definitely easier for me to say I wouldn't have done it while I'm sitting on my couch watching the game. If I'm being honest with myself, 7 years ago, after a solid Monday afternoon of skipping class and drinking DT in Bburg before the game, I probably would have joined in. Alas, I'm a grumpy alum now and I hate seeing people have the fun that I can't have anymore
I think this win is bigger than just the ranking beside UNC on the scoreboard. In many ways, I think UNC is a more strategic rival for us right now than UVA in all sports, especially with the NC2VT movement. Really liked having that court storming, Sandman, and tribute to Beamer on national tv. I think that resonates with recruits in both basketball and football. Any win over UNC is huge for us and our regional recruiting efforts. I love it when we can show the comraderie and unity between what the football and basketball teams are both trying to accomplish.
I never said it wasn't a big win, I have established that. I don't think this has any bearings on our efforts in football in NC but still a big win. Court storming worthy? Not in my eyes.
I get what you are trying to say but let's leave NC2VT to football because we aren't going to out recruit UNC in basketball.
Excellent win, Hokies!!! Convincing win over #10-ranked UNCheat is a damn good reason for rushing the court! Enjoy it, students!
I love how Buzz pays tribute to Frank every chance he gets. I can see the Buzz truly idolizes all that he did for VT. Just awesome.
I look forward to another coach wearing Buzz gear when he's going into the HOF (as a Hokie)!
I hope Buzz ends up being VTBB's Frank Beamer
Seth repping the maroon pocket square. He really looks proud of this win.
Seth always had More than his share of success vs unc. Even the Hansborough games, he got them to the brink.

You can tell Greenberg still loves Blacksburg. Hope we can get him back on campus sometime in the future for some kind of homecoming at a game. Do they still do basketball Gameday?
"You don't simply walk into Cassell and win". He said this to the other guy post game. Seth's postgame VT comments were awesome tonite, he was defending our rep bigtime. Pwned that other guy, that was fun!
It was Jay Williams (former Dook Douche). Jay kept trying to diminish VT's win. Seth righted the ship!
Wow. That game went about the complete opposite of what I was expecting after that terrible performance against FSU. We finally played D and didn't turn the ball over! This is the team I was waiting to see in ACC play! Come on, let's get some momentum and get a long winning streak going! I love when Hokies basketball is fun to watch
Feels so good! Man, I almost love beating UNCheat as much as I love beating LOLUVA...almost.
I really needed this win after being designated one of only two "essential personnel" in my office today at Furlough, not fun to be one of two working for free out of forty people
That sucks, but hey...safe for...3 weeks.
If Roy Williams knew how to recruit big men, UNC would have won that game
I see what you did there
Honestly, I was expecting to get downvoted the fk to oblivion. I know I'm annoying
And if Buzz Williams knew how to recruit big men, he wouldn't! Because Fast beats Big when Fast has the ball, and tonight Fast had the ball!
So ideally, we just need to honor Coach Frank Beamer at every home game and have the VT players and coaches rock the Frank Beamer 25 jerseys. This should be doable, quick someone get Whit on the phone stat!
Rotating honorary No. 25 jersey for the Buzzketball player that has the best days of practice?
Or we could make a new tradition and have the best player wear this:
court storming or not? I'll let the students at the game make that decision. what was worthy of a thumbs up was the fact that it appeared that those who stormed the court respected the security line. (there may have been a few exceptions)
I turned it off soon after, but the ones that got through security seemed to be trying to get back to the correct side to party with everyone else.
Didn't think we'd stand a chance in this game after the FSU escapade.
Glad I tuned into the final 5 minutes to watch.
Oh good, my UNC coworkers are already coming out of the woodwork with their excuses for their team's playing tonight ๐ค
Go into work tomorrow like "THERE WAS A HURRICANE!!!"
I'm strongly considering it ๐
They're the worst; always with the excuses!
Don't forget to remind them that there are two undefeated teams in the ACC, LOLUVA and Wofford, bahaha!
I did hear there was a storm on the court right after the game.
Great win. When KJ stays out of foul trouble and Clarke understands that his drive and kick is the best play we are a good team.
In football we shouldn't rush the field for a win like this. In basketball I would've rushed the court for A WIN in 2013 and 2014. Enjoy it while we can.
Yes, in football, when we beat UNC, the students are too busy rushing downtown.
And man, what a difference with KJ and Clarke. Right on the $ with that comment. Wilson had some great minutes tonight. 12 minutes, 3 assists, 0 TO. That was big help when J-Rob had to sit with 2 and 3 fouls. Bede with some good short minutes in the same situation, scored a 3 ball.
Man, kids these days, having harmless fun and all that! When I was in school, we were there to study, not play! Hooligans!
Tell that to West Virginia. The worst schools are trying to ruin all the fun, but in reality it's a bigggggg liability
"Virginia Tech Upends 10th Ranked Tar Heels" as breaking news on CBSsports front page, pretty good...
Nice job boys! Feels so good to beat the Tarholes in anything; especially roundball.
Two very winnable games coming up on the road. If we can come back to cassell at 16-6 and .500 in the ACC.....
I WAS ON ESPN!!!
...It might have been on the clip in the postgame show from 2007 but I'm still excited.
Rebounded. Forced bad shots. Won. It isn't rocket science.
WRs stayed on their blocks, made the linebackers bite on the motion. Won. It isn't rocket science. /s
...and our D finally stopped a running QB!!!
Rebounded. Forced bad shots. Less than 10 turnovers. Blackshear not in foul trouble. Won. It isn't rocket science.
Can we keep these refs for the rest of the season?
They didn't call anything that was not obvious or gave an advantage.
I am glad they didn't bail out ball carriers who made bad decisions with fouls too.
Can confirm. The average rocket scientist is awful at basketball.
I resent that.
That's not true - I shoot 90% from the line albeit granny-style...
FAM!
Cassell was nuts!
Can't we all just be happy the kids are storming a basketball court and not sitting home biting Tide pods?
Most satisfying game this season.
That's what I want to see.
The real question is, "has anyone printed up 'mission accomplished' shirts yet?" After all, we did just beat the national champions.
