Unnamed Buffalo Bills Starter Announcing Retirement due to Injury

The announcement will be made Monday. Hope it's not T-Mobile.

Let's run down the list of obvious possibilities:

  • Quarterback Tyrod Taylor sustained a concussion in the team's playoff against the Jacksonville Jaguars but if the reaction was serious enough to warrant a press conference, it's unlikely he would have been around the the noise and light at the Toronto Raptors game a few days later.
  • Receiver Kelvin Benjamin recently went under the knife to repair a torn meniscus. It's possible they found more extensive damage than they anticipated while performing the surgery, such as a partially torn ligament. (Update: John Wawrow of the Associated Press heavily hinted it was not Benjamin.)
  • Offensive tackle Cordy Glenn also recently underwent surgery on his ailing ankle and foot problem. This chronic issue could have developed into one that is debilitating.
  • Receiver Zay Jones had shoulder surgery earlier this offseason, but has said everything went well.
  • Tight end Charles Clay has a history of back problems, so much that he received days off during the season as maintenance. It could have progressed to the point of no return.

Who is retiring?

Hopefully the ownership!

We put the K in Kwality

At this point Tyrod is moving on. I have nothing against the new owners. They manipulated the situation as new owners to get the best deal that they could for their team. Tyrod made the mistake in agreeing to the new deal last year.

My money is on Chucky Clay. He's important enough to the team that he'd get a press conference, he's been in and out of injury the past 2 seasons. Tyrod took a good blow to the head against the Jags but news would have come out sooner if it was that severe and they've been talking about him in recent conversations as far as QB drafting.

EDIT: JK its Eric Wood.

I know SCOUT gets a lot of their money from clicks, but man, I feel like they could have afforded to be a little more sensitive and just let this news come out on its own on Monday when the player actually announces it.

Edit: "The mysterious player asked not to be revealed, but uh, it's Eric Wood"

It's Eric Wood, the center. He sustained a neck injury in the playoff game.
