The Browns Offseason (a little off topic)

The Browns have a gang of early draft picks and a boat load of Cash to work with, Plus they just got there QB of the Future. So if you were GM what would you do this Offseason/draft?

I would trade back both 1st round picks. They could likely trade #4 to the Bills for 21, 22, and 56. They could probably trade #1 to the Jets (assuming Cousins goes to Denver) for #6, 37, and 49. This would give the Browns
6th (Tremaine Edmunds, LB)
21st (Harold Landry, Edge)
22nd (I Wynn, OT)
33rd (Isaiah Oliver, CB)
35th (Ronald Jones, RB)
37th (Mike Gesicki, TE)
49th (billy Price, C/G)
56th (Tim Settle, DT)
64th (Kyle Lauretta, QB)
101st (Wyatt Teller, OG)

I would Also go after Sammy Watkins to reunite him with Tyrod, and Nate Solder at T esp. if Joe Thomas doesn't come back. I would also target Dion Lewis for RB depth and a CB like Prince Amukamara. With Weapons like Josh Gordon, Sammy Watkins, and Jarvis Landry Tyrod will be able to ball out. This team will definitely win at least 1 game.

Don't try to make me a Browns fan. I don't want to get sucked into the factory of sadness.

6th (Tremaine Edmunds, LB), 56th (Tim Settle, DT), 101st (Wyatt Teller, OG), Tyrod

My thought is that if you trade down with both the #1 and #4 picks, you wouldn't be employed as an NFL GM for very long.

What they need at this point are playmakers, not just hole-fillers. They can use the rest of their non-first-round picks for that.

I would consider trading one of the 2. They need playmakers but also upgrades across the board. The more picks in the first 2 rounds, the better.

$5 says they blow at least one of their round picks on a qb instead

Not sure even they view Tyrod as their QB of the future. Many reports still are saying they are planning to take a QB #1. Sounds like Tyrod was brought in to hold down the fort until whatever franchise QB they pick is ready, much like Mike Glennon last year.

So basically they're still gonna Cleveland Brown this one up and pass on Barkley. Typical.

If they do they are making a colossal mistake. Take Barkley @ #1 and a QB @ #4 if you have too. I would personally take a QB in second round. Their are at least a half dozen decent QB's coming out and none scream Franchise.

They did that last year. Look how well it worked for them.

They're going to take a QB at 1 or 4, guaranteed.

In the past 2 years the Browns have said they didn't view Wentz or Watson as franchise level players.

There is so much egg on their face from those mistakes they HAVE to take a franchise QB #1, even with Tyrod in the fold.

They got "so much egg on their face", they are going to do it again?

Yeah kept referring to Tyrod as a "bridge" quarterback

If they don't take Barkley with the first pick then they should relegated to the arena football league.

uva sucks

I agree... IMO they are in a position where they need to take the best player available no matter what position. With the Colts most likely taking Chubb, you guarantee yourself Rosen, Darnold, or Allen at #4 if they want to draft a QB then.

Unless the Colts trade down a few spots with a QB needy team, still I think the Browns could take the best available QB at 4 since none of them really stand out over the others. No reason to do something crazy for a QB this year

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

They should take Barkley #1. I understand they still need a young QB to sit the bench for a year or two, but I really don't think any of this year's QBs are worth the #1 spot.

or the number 4 spot

1-0 every week

It's that time of the year when everyone convinces themselves the Browns are capable of going 7-9 and finishing third in the division.

Newsflash: it's not happening. 4-12 or worse again, like always.

4-12 would be a move in the right direction for them

I'm taking browns over 6.5 wins, yeah. For the first time, not an annual kinda thing. DeShone Kizer/every other QB was THAT BAD.

Taking Barkley 1st is not a good idea.

1. Injury risk
2. The position is not that valuable
3. You don't get any rookie contract value by drafting Barkley 1st. He would be like the 4th highest paid RB right away.

Injury risk? RB not a valuable position? Tf?

Exactly! I've been saying since the day the Cowboys took Elliott that it was a dumb pick. Sure he's really good, but they'd be a better team with Jaylen Ramsey.

Rip his freaking head off!

Without Elliott the Cowboys would have a putrid offense. I can't see them as being that much better overall with 1 really good corner vs an All Pro level running back.

The Browns defense is actually average to above average in a lot of stats. They couldn't score last year. Throw in Tyrod, Gordon, Landry, and add Barkley, that's a team that could actually get 7-8 wins in the AFC North

The year before Elliott they had an injured Romo and McFadden, who only started 11 games, finished 5th in rushing and averaged 4.6 ypc. The drop off to a replacement for Elliott isn't very big. Running backs are a dime a dozen.

I strongly disagree. With their o-line they have built through the draft (which most say is the best), most RB's is going to be productive. Don't get me wrong, Elliiot is a helluva running back but Demarco Murray was very good for them before Elliot

Look no further than last year when Zeke was out 6 games.

With what was essentially the same exact team as the one that went 12-4 the year prior, their offense was not good. The first 4 games he served they scored 28, 7, 9, and 6 points (1-3) And that was what I think we could agree on was at least serviceable NFL running backs playing for them. After that their season was all but over by the time he came back. If you don't have a top end QB, hen you better at least one guy that can make plays. And Dallas simply didn't other than him.

I'm sorry, I just can't see a scenario where that team is better with a shutdown corner vs. a top 3 running back.

if im them i go barkley #1 and then if you really want a qb go qb at 4. i understand (dont agree) with tyrod not being their qb of the future. and if they get barkley and tyrod doesnt pan out they could be stuck in purgatory with a team just good enough to not draft in the top 10 and not good enough to win it all. its really tough to find a qb at that point

Taylor, looking desperately throws it deep..HAS A MAN OPEN DANNY COALE WITH A CATCH ALL THE WAY DOWN TO THE FIVE!!!!....hes still open

As a Browns fan my whole life, I hope they take Barkley number one and Allen #4. With the hire of former Steelers OC Todd Haley, I think Barkley will play the Leveon Bell time and Allen has the big arm to be Rapesburger. They have Tyrod to hold down the fort until Allen gets used to the difference between the NFL and the Big Sky conference, which will take two years at least. Barkley's ability to catch out of the backfield means he won't be running it up the middle 20 times a game and should keep defenses from bringing the blitz on half the downs.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

That's what I think they'll do. As a Giants fan I wan the best QB at #2.

What's
Important
Now

I still have a hard time believing that anybody wants Josh Allen as a first round pick. Even in the Mountain West he had a completion % of 56, TD to INT ratio of 2:1, and averaged less than 7 YPA last year. I understanding taking a chance with his measurables at some point in the draft (3rd or 4th round) but the bust potential is extremely high.

Joffrey, Cersei, Ilyn Payne, the Hound, Jeff Jagodzinski, Paul Johnson, Pat Narduzzi.

I still think Bryce Love from Stanford is better than Barkley. If I am right, the Browns should be able to draft him in the top 5 next year.

Plan for the worst and hope for the best, not the other way around.

You take Barkley first and find a way to draft edmunds this equals playoffs at minimum. I think the Browns are being very smart this offseason, the draft will tell the story but the jags did the same thing a couple seasons back, I told people bortles would be good and then boom some good draft picks and they almost made the super bowl.

browns lost 10 games last year by less than a TD and that was with kizer turning the ball over 4 times a game. they aren't a horrible team they have just had horrible QB play since Bernie kosar. Im excited about the team they've put together especially if they draft barkley with the 1.

Its funny how quickly the excuses for the Browns come out the second they add Tyrod.

(1) Barkley
(4) Best QB left of Darnold, Allen, or Rosen (probably Rosen, I think two QBs will be gone by that point)
(33) Kolton Miller (OT - UCLA)
(35) Mike Hughes (CB - Central Florida)
(64) Da'shawn Hand
(114) Terrell Edmunds
(150) Tegray Scales (ILB - Indiana)
(159) Kentavius Street (DE - NC State)
(175) Colby Gossett (OT - Appy State)
(219) Cam Phillips

Other than needing more Hokies, not a bad lineup.

Could you put teams next to those Terrell Edmunds and Cam Philips guys so I can look them up?

Free Hugh

Terrell at 114 would be a huge steal, I have seen a mock with him going #40 to Denver before the combine

That seems too high to me but that would be awesome
