Our tennis team lost to inferior teams at least 3 different times after
going undefeated in the regular season (at least 2-3 times USC was probably actually the better team ... but certainly UVA was the best team a few times too) before finally breaking through to win the title ... you knock long enough and you break through

You're right, but I think what people are reacting to is the abject disappointment of Ty Jerome upon realizing that the question is being asked, will always be asked, and that we now live in a world where that question even exists.
We know that pain. We know that it's about as low as you can get. We would not wish it on anyone. And I think it's difficult for some of us to watch our fellow TKPers take such delight in the utter despair being experienced by a fellow human being. He deserves our love and our empathy.
And if he wanted that, he should have chosen a different school.

When I got out, my phone was absolutely blowing up, but I was too drunk to comprehend what was going on. Just watched highlights of the game in a hungover stupor. As long as no one makes it personal about a individual then I'm fine with it. If a reporter asks a kid what they did wrong etc then it crosses the line. But asking how the team will move on, it's all good.

If, say, Kansas or Xavier had been the 1-seed to be upset, it would be fascinating. Kind of in the same way Syracuse became the first 2-seed to be upset back before anybody cared about Syracuse. Like "Hey, that's interesting." The fact that it was LOLUVA that lost makes this 1,000,000x more delicious.
Idk it's the blessing and the curse of being a high profile athlete. They got the media glory for the regular season. Now they get the shit for playing poorly. I don't see how this is any different than a pro being asked stupid questions after a heart breaking loss
You're right, but I think what people are reacting to is the abject disappointment of Ty Jerome upon realizing that the question is being asked, will always be asked, and that we now live in a world where that question even exists.
We know that pain. We know that it's about as low as you can get. We would not wish it on anyone. And I think it's difficult for some of us to watch our fellow TKPers take such delight in the utter despair being experienced by a fellow human being. He deserves our love and our empathy.

It's obvious that when he arrived home and saw all the VT swag, he immediately developed a dislike for UVA. With his dog ESP, he then transferred those negative waves up to Maryland to help out the team.

I was having a somewhat shitty morning. Then I decided to jump on over to TKP, found this thread, and damn, I happy as a lark again. I am pretty sure this UVA loss will offer decades of quick pick-me-ups. Short of some severe health issue (God forbid), no matter how bad things look from my point of view, they'll never be #1 UVA losing to #16 UMBC bad.
