Haven't seen it posted here, but VT is running their first annual 'giving day' fundraiser. At time of posting, they've raised over $1 Million dollars from over 3500 different donations. You can donate as little or as much as you want, to a variety of causes - I donated small amounts to Athletics, the Mechanical Engineering Dept, and Rec Sports.
Also - your employer might offer some form of donation matching - check here to see.

You know if they really wanted to make this giving day work, they probably should have contacted alumni... First I have heard about it.
I only heard about it because I'm on Twitter.
Whaaaaaat? Nah, the alumni should already know. No, the alumni should already be doing the legwork to get the word out there without being asked. No, the alumni should have thought of this on their own a long time ago, and now the alumni chapters are going to be dinged on their status because they weren't already neck deep with events surrounding it.

I got 2 emails about it yesterday and 2 the day before - Monday and Tuesday from College of Engineering, one Monday from the 'University Relations' and one on Tuesday from rec sports.
Does the Alumni Association have your contact information? I received at least 5 emails over the past few days about it. There was also an ad for it in the most recent VT Magazine that I received a couple of weeks ago.
Yeah, I actually got a call from the students updating information last month. No emails, nothing.
Where did you donate to rec sports? Student Affairs -> Other?

Same thing happened to me. I didn't select the honor wall so can't speak to that.
Looks like the Hokie Club netted an additional quarter million from this. Not bad for 24 hours.
