Tailgate Guys partner up with VT

Sorry in advance if this is old since it says they partnered up in 2017...

This is a really interesting business idea. Has anyone used this service at another location or know how they price their service?

But seriously, I'm curious as well. I usually have a group of 8-12 people.

My crew did it last year for the Clemson game because the guy who usually brings the truck and tailgating supplies (me) had a wedding to go. I actually stayed for an hour to see what it was like. Located in the field between AJ and Pritchard across from Cassell. Nice chairs, tents, food was fine and plenty of beer and liquor. Expensive as hell, it was over $100 per person and we probably had 15 or so guys there. One guy absolutely loved it, the rest of us thought it was fine but for the money, I could have thrown one sick ass tailgate myself. The biggest issue was there was no music. Two of my friends actually went into Pritchard and paid a freshman $40 for a bluetooth stereo so we could play some tunes. Also felt kind of weird not being in a lot or close to other tailgaters. I personally like to feed off of the energy of the environment and be around alot of other happy 'gaters. It was nice just being able to walk over and use the restrooms in Cassell. I know the ladies appreciated that.

I know I won't pay for it in the future unless it was alot cheaper. I'd much rather have people toss me $20 for a parking pass, bring a 6 pack and I'll throw a crazier tailgate. This year we're all doing the Miami game and I'm hosting it again with my truck, we didn't even consider the Tailgate Guys again. I'd imagaine it would work well for large groups who don't have someone with the right setup and don't want to mess with bringing all of the goodies.

You will see this game, this upset and this sign next on ESPN Sportscenter. Virginia Tech 31 Miami 7

His decision was made after a phone call with longtime Virginia Tech assistant coach Bud Foster. All Foster told him was, "We win. They don't."

For approximately $1,500 I could throw 5 kick ass tailgates... granted I've been stocking up on tailgate equipment for a long time now...

For someone with families or a pile of people that you just don't have the capability of everyone getting taken care of, I imagine this is a great service. I, for one, am a simple ass tailgater. Flags on truck, beer, food, cornhole. Boom. Ready to rock AND roll.

Pretty sure they are just taking the vacant area across from cassell that you can't tailgate in normally, so this isn't really a big deal. But at other schools they have gotten exclusive rights on primo tailgating spots and locked out fans, really hope Whit & co are smart enough not to let something like that happen.

We used them at the 2017 Homecoming Game vs UNC. Let me just say it was phenomenal for many reasons. We had about 20 people from all over the US. This made it simple since some of us didn't have cars and coordinating a spot was not easy with parking permits, etc. They supply the space, tent, chairs, table, cooler, ice and even catering options available. The cost was very reasonable split amongst the families, I recall $350ish which included food. Tent sizes and options such as TV are also available.

One of the nicest features is the location. Its setup right across from Cassel so close to the stadium and even allowed us to use the restrooms inside.

You actually get the spot for 2-3 hours after the game as well so we came back to the spot before heading DT. Also, they clean it all up when you are done so no hassle.

In short, no doubt we will use them again next visit.

Thanks for the insight. How does parking work with them? Do you get one spot for a vehicle or does it depend on which package you buy from them?

as far as I understand it, there is no parking. You walk there from wherever you park your car. Probably allowed to offload food/beverages on Washington if you're not going with the catering.

They have a drop off point right out front to unload but parking is up to you. In our case, Uber was pretty convenient for $8 from the hotel in Christiansburg. One thing I forgot to mention was they have helpers that meet you at the drop point and carry everything to your spot. If you do have to go and park, you will come back to all your stuff being right at your tailgate.

Disregard...I clicked the link like a person with a brain.

I'm all for anything that Whit + co. believe will improve our game day experience.

I am seriously thinking about using these guys for the BC game. They just updated their site where you can see pricing. We are probably going to go with the Varsity package (accommodates 10-20 people) since we will have around that many people at our tailgate which runs at a flat total of $365 for the BC game. Some games are higher (ND, UM) and some are lower (W&M, ECU).

I asked about the catering too. Menus and pricing should be available this week as well but the rep I said the cost/head runs around $12-20 depending on how many you have.

Will keep everybody updated if I choose to go with them as well as catering.
